Book Description
Karen Salmansohn knows that men are just larger, hairier boys, with more expensive toys. Author of How to Make Your Man Behave in 21 Days or Less, Using the Secrets of Professional Dog Trainers and Even God Is Single, she now shows women how to gain the upper hand in any relationship.
Illustrated with glee by Gary Baseman, I Don't Need to Have Children, I Date Them is essential humor for contemporary women. First, it proves the similarity between big boys and little boys. Consider: Both share a major breast fixation. Both have trouble dressing themselves. Both think The Three Stooges are funny. And both love to be told, You are . . . soooo big! But this is a reason to celebrate, not fret; once you master a little child psychology, you can fix any boo-boos in your relationship. It's all a matter of nifty tricks, like Food and rest can solve most problems and Never ask questions your boy can reject.
Because boys will be boys. Even when they're grown men.
Customer Reviews:
Hilarious book with some good insights.......2003-08-30
Some guys might be offended by this book, but if you're a woman, you could pick up a few tips in dealing with your significant other. Despite the title and pictures, and the fact that it looks like a children's book, the book does offer some valid insights into the male animal. I have a couple of other books by Karen Salmansohn and really appreciate her sense of humor.
Fun for Psych Majors !!.......2003-01-20
Well, I was a psych major in college, and now a single working woman in a big city. I laughed (better than crying) my way through the "23 Child Psychology Techniques to Use on Boys of All Ages." I used to do babysitting during college, but I've had enough of that. Very entertaining and real, this book.
Brave and Insightfully Funny Approach to American Sexism.......2003-01-08
OK, the negative reviews should convince you to get this book -- obviously Salmansohn's humorous insights are really perceptive because she is hitting some of the big targets in the male-dominated American culture. And some of the targets are complaining ... both men and male-identified, patriarchy-serving women. A key point of feminist analysis is that anti-women sexism is so deeply rooted in American culture that is has been internalized as a value by most men and many women while they were growing up. Absurd, exaggerated, counter-stereotypical humor is a great tool for excavating these unconscious cultural assumptions. And it is fun !! So don't miss the point of the author's humor. And don't miss her latest, How to Change Your Entire Life By Doing Absolutely Nothing. Salmansohn's humor and insight are national treasures. Every culture needs its critics if it is going to change, improve, and flourish.
A stupid book.......2002-04-18
...After reading it I became physically ill from the incessant anti-male ...[feel] throughout the book! ...
Another book to throw into the fireplace.............2002-04-15
I dont care what excrement this woman writes I`ll never feel bad about being a man,but I`ll definitely always be relieved that I`m not a woman! I knew alot of ladies were filled with irrational and juvenile hatred of men,but I didnt realize to what extent! I mean what a waste of emotional energy.I guess I shouldnt hate the writers of or readers of books like this but pity them instead.I can tell you this much,"girls" are just as exasperating to we men! May god condemn Karen Salmansohns soul to the eternal flames of hell.

Beyond Ordinary Science Fiction
New Screenplay Describes Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Immortality in the 28th Century
KAOHSIUNG HSIEN, TAIWAN---Welcome to the 28th century. Author Dr. Charles Tandy will be your guide through this futuristic universe. In his new screenplay, Timeport 1: Truth Quest, Tandy goes "beyond ordinary fiction into a new genre."
A tale of time travel, sex, and cryonic hibernation, Timeport 1: Truth Quest steps beyond extraordinary anti-war stories such as Catch-22, Full Metal Jacket, and Saving Private Ryan. Dr. Tandy's new brand of fiction belongs to a new genre of writing: anti-death literature. In the words of the famous novelist Alan Harrington, "Death is an imposition on the human race, and no longer acceptable."
Tandy's adventure story includes the following incredible cast of characters:
h DeeDee MacMurphy: 20th century founder of the cryonics movement; 28th century religious leader; is proud of her generous endowments.
h Jesus of Galilee: religious leader in the early 1st century
h Leesa Quine: 28th century Director of the Office of Time Travel
h Miles: 20th century guide dog for the blind
h Pierre Teilhard: French accented religious leader both in the 20th and 28th century
h Sal: Seductive dancer in the 1st century; Jesus once asked her to marry him
h Ursula Golding: talented astronaut in the 21st century; in the 28th century known for her miniskirts
h Val Romero: Latin American police officer in the late 20th century; in the 28th century a renowned time traveler
While Timeport 1: Truth Quest is Dr. Tandy's debut work of fiction, he has been an accomplished scholar and teacher for many years. After receiving his Ph.D. in Philosophy of Education from the University of Missouri at Columbia (USA), Tandy became a visiting scholar at Stanford University (USA). He is currently Associate Professor of Humanities, and Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Philosophic Studies, at the Fooyin Institute of Technology in Taiwan.

Book Description
What makes these puzzles so special? Not only does each one illustrate some of the most classic theories in math, logic, and perception, but they’re eye-catching too. Stare at brilliantly hued concentric circles, inspired by the “video active” paintings of the Parisian artist Isia Leviant; if you continue to look long enough, a spinning white blur will appear. Or imagine that you have a drawerful of socks in different colors—7 red, 7 yellow, and 7 green pairs. If you pulled some out in complete darkness, how many would you have to take before you’d be sure of having a pair in each color? Or solve word puzzles, paradoxes, and the mystery of the rolling photo cube.

Customer Reviews:
Are you into the details?.......2004-09-25
This is a 5 star book because it takes you down to the lowest level of detail without losing you. This is primarily due to the book's excellent organization where each chapter builds on the previous ones. Although it calls itself a reference, it's an excellent sequential read to learn what TCP/IP is about under the covers on Windows Server 2003.
The devil in the detail.......2004-03-04
I'd like to say that this is a good book for the general reader who wants a broad overview of networking protocols.
But nobody buys a book like this for browsing and unfortunately it falls short when it comes to the nitty gritty details that anone working with these protocols needs.
What is the point of providing extra detail if these details prove to be misleading or in some cases even contradictory?
I know this looks like a frothing rant so I guess I need an example:
page 389 in table 16.1 the DHCP Broadcast bit in the flags entry must be set if the client does not have an IP address.
Then for the rest of the chapter all examples show the bit unset.
I know its pedantic but these books are bought for detail like this.
So in conclusion it may look good on the shelf but cannot be trusted for everyday use.
Great TCP/IP book.......2003-11-10
As an Microsoft MVP, Microsoft presented this book to me and I've read it carefully, I found it's a great book of TCP/IP protocols in Windows Server 2003. If you want to be a professional of Windows Server 2003 TCP/IP protocols and services, buy and read this book, it's great really.
Excellent reference.......2003-10-27
I find myself going to this book more and more. A great TCP/IP reference.
Boring and Important.......2003-05-09
Are TCP/IP protocols and services fun topics? No. This is not a "fun" book. But, if you need to know how an IP protocol works, this is a great source. Davies and Lee cover the critical protocols in deeply and understandabley.

Book Description
"For more than three hundred years the legend of 'the man in the iron mask' has held a place on the stage of human enquiry and debate. From the time of his incarceration during the reign of Louis XIV right through to our modern day, the awful fate of the man condemned to live a lifetime with his face encased in iron has inspired, depending on the era, anger, horror, pity and fascination." So opened the New York Times review of the first edition of The Man Behind the Iron Mask. John Noone's masterful account of the mystery presents all the known facts of the prisoner's existence chronologically as they have been discovered, including the famous legend immortalized in the nineteenth century by Alexander Dumas in his sequel to The Three Musketeers, and into modern times with the supposed discovery of his skeleton in an old tower in Cannes in 1977. Noone also offers his own intriguing solution to the identity of the Man in the Iron Mask, telling the story of this mystery of enduring strength like no one else has.
Customer Reviews:
A New Look at An Old Mystery.......2004-11-17
John Noone deserves much credit for originality. His proposed solution to the riddle of the "Masked Man" is, without a doubt, the most ingenious (and darkly hilarious) theory to date. Like all the earlier "solutions" to the riddle of this unfortunate man's identity, his theory is based largely on conjecture, but the tale he spins is so outrageous and unexpected it is, curiously, the most convincing answer yet. I would love to see other "Maskologists" do their own research into Noone's theory to see if it could be either strengthened or refuted.
Whether you personally find his conclusions compelling or not, the background information Noone relates, with its many peculiar twists and turns (such as the stories of the still-mysterious "James de la Cloche" and France's most unwelcome dinner guest, the Marquise de Brinvilliers,) make lively reading for anyone interested in history's more dark and perverse corners.
And the Iron Mask is....?.......2001-07-26
I found this to be a detailed look at just about every theory that has been expounded about the Iron Mask. The great part was reading each new guess, agreeing with the author on the possibilities, then realizing that it couldn't possibly be that person because Noone then demolishes the theory. Highly enjoyable, and a read that hopefully will put away the tiresome "Twin Brother of Louis XIV" theory for good.
Great writing but wrongo deductions.......2001-01-03
This is one of the most complete compendia of theories as to who was the Man in the Iron Mask. However, at the end, Noone totally negates all theories in favor of his own: that the MITIM was...well I will let you find out for yourselves. It is a silly end to a great book.
The MITIM is one of the enduring mysteries of French History, in itself fascinating even without the secret that has been hidden for 350 years. Will someone ever solve it? Perhaps.
Did Dumas really know who the man in the iron mask was?.......2000-03-11
Excellent! This book is a must for anyone interested in the "Man in the Iron Mask". Mr. Noone reveals some very interesting theories and possibilities as to who the MITIM really is. I STRONGLY recommend it!

Book Description
The authors discuss all key aspects of the design of barrier systems, including leachate collection, natural barriers such as clayey aquitards, clay liners, geomembrane and composite liners and so on. They have integrated the engineering and hydrogeological considerations and the design of waste disposal facilities to provide a sound base from which engineers can work. There is also a comprehensive view of modelling as related to practical landfill design, and key studies give examples of actual field performance.
