A Classic in Real Estate Investing.......2005-09-17
This is the full meal deal. Rock solid real estate investing information. Though written some years back, virtually everything in this book is relevant and useabe today. It is great for the beginner, but the experienced investor will find excellent ideas as well. Neither will be bored. I'm reading it for the second time myself.

The real deal.......2003-07-25
this book is amazing. as far as underground comix go, this is the real thing. it hits everything from isolation, to weinstein's sex life, to kittens and demons. it is a really messed up book, and really uses the comix medium to the fullest. just great.

An amazing amount of aviation info in a humorous little book.......2001-12-29
Written in light, humorous prose, I'd recommend it highly to anyone with even a little interest in aviation. Pros may laugh at the recognizable situations and anecdotes that Ken Beere wrote up.
While reading you learn about well known and lesser known avation items that stick with you because of the puns that go with them.
Having read this time after time, I only wish I could find more books by him.

Interesting but obscure stories from WW II........2006-08-01
Behind Enemy Lines, by James Dean Sanderson, contains several interesting, but obscure stories from the Second World War. It includes Lt. Col. Geoffrey Keyes' British Command raid on Rommel's suspected headquarters at Beda Littoria in North Africa, Corporal Ernst van der Veen's sniper shooting of German Parachute General Kurth Student during the German invasion of Holland in 1940, the story of Luftwaffe ace Hans Joachim Marseille, Vladimir Peniakof's (Popski) jeep raiders, and others. All are exciting and inspiring stories of courage under fire that are not well known, yet they all had some impact on the outcome of the war. A good read!

Book Description
The 20th century might be accurately described as the television century. Perhaps no technological invention in recent history has so vastly affected the American public. James Roman, author of Love, Light, and a Dream: Television's Past, Present, and Future (Greenwood, 1996), traces the evolution of American television programming from its beginnings as an experimental "spinoff" of radio broadcasting to its current role as an omnipresent and, some would say, omnipotent force of media and culture. Roman provides thematic chapters on all of television's major genres, including:
Westerns
Medical dramas
Soap operas
Sitcoms
Children's programs
Sports broadcasting
Miniseries
Docudramas
And Reality television An involving mixture of scholarship and nostalgia, this volume offers an intelligent examination of the many ways that American society has shaped--and been shaped by--television.

Customer Reviews:
good and easy.......2006-08-13
The book is good for a beginning however it has help to remine me of things that we sometimes take for granted as related to the tasks we do every day without thinking how we actually perform them or how a description of such action is worded. It has help refresh and renew my thinking on some things in MS word.I believe this book will enhance and refresh the key points of MS office.
Excellent Review for Certification Tests.......2006-03-02
This book is a wonderful review for the MOS Certification Tests. It covers all the tests - Word (both Core & Expert), Excel (both Core & Expert), Access, Powerpoint, and Outlook. Each section starts with a very basic introduction and steps through all the different tasks that might show up on the tests.
Some of these tasks are very basic (i.e. change the font color) but these tasks will show up on the Core exams so they are covered. The tasks include many less commonly used options such as publishing to web pages, merging documents, and creating macros.
I've worked through the Excel and Access parts and found them to be very well written & easy to follow. I recently passed the Excel Expert test and will be taking the Access test in a few days. I'm confident I will pass it too.
One warning...
This book is NOT designed to teach you these programs. If you are just beginning to learn the Office programs, get a good beginning/intermediate book for each program.
This book is designed to be a REVIEW of material you have already been exposed to or at least heard rumors about - that's how the author was able to pack 5 programs worth of material in one book.
If you want a good review of the tasks that might show up on the tests, this is the book for you.
Quick and Easy Learning, an Excellent Tutorial.......2006-02-23
Learning MS Office XP goes quickly and painlessly with this book. A CD containing files that you actually open and use with the tutorials are included, making it very convenient for the learner to focus on specific objectives in each lesson. Included with the tutorials on Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint are "core" and "advanced" projects you can work on after completing the tutorials in the book. But fair warning - you must have MS Office XP already installed if you want to perform the exercises in this book.
Good information, but needed better editing........2004-10-20
I got this book yesterday to study for the MOSC tests. I'm still only working through the Word section, and keep finding problems with the text. For example, steps that are sentence fragments that don't make any sense, such as "8. to the beginning of a document?" There is no other text to suggest what exactly this step is trying to ask. Also, I have found two references in the first section to images or figures that don't exist. Lastly, there is an instruction to insert a graphic, presumably from the CD, but the graphic doesn't exist.
The authors of this book collectively have many decades of experience with writing and editing books on computer software, yet these very basic mistakes were not caught. As a Technical Writer by trade, I believe this devalues the publication because it is not as useful as it should be. I gave it 3 stars to reflect this.
Great All-In-One Book for MOS XP Certification!.......2003-02-03
As a MOUS Office 2000 Master I have been looking long and hard for a book to prepare me for the Office XP exams. I did not want the expense in having to buy 5 different books as I did for the 2000 exams. This book is exactly what I was looking for. The book covers the objectives for all 5 XP application exams: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Outlook and includes the Expert objectives for Word & Excel. What impressed me most about the book was that it focused entirely on the exam objectives and did not waste time going over information that would not be tested. The information is clear & concise and for each exam objective they supplied a Skill Overview, Activity Steps and at least 2 graphical figures. Additionally, there are exercises at the end of each chapter and projects for additional study on each application. The book also contains a glossary for each application and includes a CD containing exercise & project files. I just can't say enough about how much I like this book! I should also note that as per the logo on the front cover, it is MOUS Approved Coureware. Congrats to the Authors on doing such a great job. THANKS!

Book Description
An exciting book of discovery, Teach Your Child Science introduces such subjects as physics, geology, and biology in terms that parents can easily share with their children.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful book.......2004-12-12
I stumbled on this in local library. Went straight home and ordered one while I used the library copy for a month. I am a tertiary educated scientist but this really spelt out how to approach science for young children. If you have ever told your enquiring child that "thats just the way it is" or put it down to a divine inspiration - then this is for you. There is no surer way of ruining your child's future enquiring scientific mind than these sorts of pseudo explanations for things that you are uneducated about! And there is plenty that I feel uneducated about despite having the most expensive and classical education that the UK could offer!
So many great moments. One is the author's memory of his father reading to him about dinosaurs and stopping to draw a picture in his mind of how big the stats really are (imagine his head coming into the top floor window of the house except his head is too big to get into the window). Another is that a vast no. of Harvard grads have wrong concept of seasonal climate cause. Fantastic 3D demos of earth/moon/sun experiments. My 4 year old was very taken with Gallileo which I would never have thought of discussing with her until I read this book.
This book single handedly changed the way I deal with questions from young children.
Interesting and useful.......2000-12-03
"Teach Your Child Science" is a useful and well written book.
Children are naturally curious about the world. With this book, you will help your child discover and understand aspects of astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, and phychology.
And there is much more here than many good, simple experiments. Science is more than an area of interest; a basic understanding of science and the scientific method helps us in all sorts of ways. Shermer helps you get your child on the path to rational thinking.
Shermer, like James Randi and Carl Sagan, is a strong voice against pseudoscience and the occult. He has written a book that is a building block to make your child a clear-thinking adult.
