A Home Buyer's Must Read.......2007-05-31
Randy Johnson is the best! He's a friend to you hoping to level the playing field so one gets the best mortgage for oneself - not for the banks or mortgage companies. A truly honest and sincere business man - however that might usually sound like an oxymoron.
I liked it.......2006-11-05
I found this book (the first edition) to be informative when I bought my first house.
Saving on home mortgage.......2006-07-14
book good as far as it went. For my purposes the amortization tablez did not go far enough, The tables stopped at $200,.000.00
A definite requirement for anyone thinking about getting a mortgage.......2006-07-12
I have done a lot of research and actually took the training to become a real estate agent, so I had a lot of basic information to start with. But the book explained a number of things that I have not been privy to.
Don't Get Deceived With Your Mortgage.......2005-11-16
I live in southern California and with today's housing prices in this area I still rent right now However, at some point in the near future, I will buy, no matter whether it's a place in SoCal or an investment property somewhere else in the country. When that happens I know that I will be very happy that I found Randy's Johnson's book before I started down the road of acquiring a mortgage.
The only reason that I gave 4 stars instead of a full 5 is that I felt that the book was just a little long winded and could have been condensed just a bit. The information contained within the book can help anyone from the first-time home buyer to someone who is looking to refi to get a great deal. Randy covers the details of rates, fixed vs. variable (ARMs), points, closing costs, and gives tips regarding each to try and land the best mortgage depending on a person's needs. In addition, Randy doesn't just discuss financial topics but also discusses the mortgage industry as a whole and the importance of finding a lender/broker that you can trust.
If you ever plan on owning a home or if you already own and want to trim the fat from your mortgage, read this book. If you are unfamiliar with mortgages, read something like "Mortgages for Dummies" or some other introductory book first and then read this book since Randy assumes, at times, a base knowledge of mortgages.

Full Moon wo Sagashite.......2007-05-23
This is one pf the greatest mangas I've ever read! There are other reviews that give you the whole story line so I'll just say the minimun. This story features 12-year-old Mitsuki Kouyama. Mitsuki has a tumor in her throat, there is an operation that could save her life, but she refuses to go through with it because if she did she would lose her voice and that wouldn't do because it is her dream to become a singer. One day, two shinigami, Takuto and Meroko, show up at her house. All three of them being shocked because Mitsuki can see them, for some strange reason, and they tell her that she will only live for one more year. The shinigami Takuto, promises that he will help her with her dream and turns her into a healthy 16-year-old. And so, Mitsuki is thrown into the chaotic world of stardom. As I said before, this is a truly wonderful manga with 7 volumes total. You will not be disappointed with this series! The rest of the books are just as good, in some cases better, than the first. They go into detail about Eichi, Meroko's past, Izumi (a shinigami who is introduced later), and Takuto's feelings for Mitsuki. You would be completely satisfied if you purchased this series.
The best!.......2006-08-12
This is the best manga in the world! A great tear jerker, and bound to wisk you to the world of pain - but also love that you're BOUND to love!
best manga ever!.......2006-07-05
i really like this manga, its my fav. manga by far!^_^ when i started reading this series i was drawn in by the cute pix but by the time i finished the 1st book i was hooked!^_^ my fav. out of all the books out is book 5. when i read book 6 though, it was sort of a let down cause if mitsuki dies then it'd be a really sucky ending... anyways, i love this whole series & kamikaze kaitou jeanne & i encourage manga fans 2 buy this!^_^lol
The most amazing thing ever!!.......2006-05-20
When I saw a little picture of one of the main characters(Takuto), I was like "Hey! Kitty ears and wings!!" I asked my friend about it and she said she had the manga! Not only will you be hooked on the characters designs(which are awesome!!), you will also have a great time learning more about each character!
At first you may think that it's a cheesy story-line. A girl meets shinigami, she has sarcoma and cant sing so they turn her into a pop super star and she gets tons and tons of fans. NO. NONONO. Do NOT think like that. The depth of the story line and the connections between the characters are great.
This is the BEST manga and the BEST anime I have ever seen/ read. A must get for any shojo lover!!!!
Awesome!!!.......2006-04-23
I first picked up this book while browsing in a bookstore. Not knowing what to expect, I thought that the summary on the back of the book sounded cute, so I bought it. I read the whole thing in one day, I just couldn't put it down! So the very next day I bought the next two volumes! [hah] I highly recommend this manga! Especially if you love shojo!

Customer Reviews:
Good Choice.......2007-10-05
Although I already knew most of the basic stuff in this book it was a great fall back. It was very easy to follow. It did provide additional details I was not aware of. I built my first computer and everything worked perfectly all the way up to the installation of Vista (Not the best operating Program stick with XP Pro, I hope the service pack makes its much better and Microsoft stops with the "Big Brother" tendencies of this software).
time/technology marches on.......2007-08-31
It's nearly impossible to write a book like this that isn't dated a few months after it's published, and this book is no exception. This would be fine if the book were a little more technical or specific, but it's really just a broad overview of the basics of building a computer in 2005. I would have rated it higher back then. Perhaps a new edition with an inclusion of more up to date technology, speculation on impending technology's impact, or treatment of more advanced concepts such as overclocking/temperature management/bios tinkering is in order.
Great starting place.......2007-02-07
An excellent review for first time DIY PC builders. It won't help you decide on the specific components for your system, and its a bit behind the curve technically (ie., PATA vs. SATA drives), but overall its an excellent summary of the process of building your own pc.
I used it as a guide, then used web resources (many provided in one of several useful appendices) for further research, chose my components, purchased them and successfully put together a high end gaming pc. This was a great project, and this book was very helpful in making it a success. It is not a standalone resource, however.
Out of date.......2007-01-25
This book is now pretty well out of date. While the process is still relevant, the technology has nearly all been surpassed and is obsolete. Oh, well...
Excellent Book for First Time Builder.......2007-01-10
I am a software developer but have never built my own computer. I decided to do it as a fun project.
In addition, I also find that "store bought" computers in my price range ($800 - $1000 for CPU) are nearly impossible to upgrade since they use such cheap components.
Even if you know a bit about computers (I knew an average amount) I would suggest reading the entire book as you pick up great tidbits of information along the way.
This book gave me the ability to make very smart decisions in buying and building. For instance, I ended up spending more money on my motherboard so I'd have the ability to upgrade substantially in the future.
The book is very good about helping you weigh your options regarding whether you want to build an inexpensive computer or building a box for the future; that is, one that will still have current components in the future and is easy to upgrade.
Not sure if the advanced builder would get much out of this book-- definitely targeted towards the novice.
This book made my first build as easy as pie. I can't wait for the next upgrade/build I get to do.
Book Description
Building a computer can be a very rewarding experience. You can learn a lot about computer hardware by building a computer. Aside from that, you get a totally personalized computer that no OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) could match, and there is also the opportunity to save a lot of money in the process. The only downside is that you won't have any technical support number to ring, or any centralized warranty service (each part will have its own warranty/return policy), so there may be a chance that you will have to pay more for service (if you don't repair yourself). So now you've been sold on the merits, read on to find out how...

Hubby loved his gift........2007-09-10
This was one of the 'how to' books I bought for my husband for his birthday. He had been remarking how he was tempted to build his own computer! Just last night he said he was ready to put his newly built computer in a permanent place - thanks due to several times referring to these books and got the answers he needed! He was glad to cross compare what one book said and how another might reword the same topic. Bottom line: A Computer Was Built!

Book Description
This is a book for anyone interested in history, what it is and where it comes from. Engaging and challenging, it confronts us with the many "histories" that exist and have existed around the world, from the Zulu kingdoms to Communist China. The Use and Abuse of History takes as its starting point the way history is taught to children. The different narratives that constitute the histories of countries as diverse as India, Iran, Trinidad and the United States make for fascinating reading in their own right. What makes this book so valuable, though, is what these narratives tell us about the societies which created them - how much is history distorted in order to condition the minds of those who are taught it? A pioneer in its field that has become a key text of contemporary historiography, this is a book that poses fundamental and disturbing questions about the use and abuse of history.

Fascinating introduction to the German Jewish experience........2003-11-18
Dr. Richarz provides the reader with an opportunity to understand the German Jewish experience from the subject's vantage point and in their own (translated)words. Her anthology demonstrates the many facets of German Jewish experience from the eighteenth century until the Holocaust. The contributors speak of their own and their families' degree of religious observance, the psychological and economic effects of state-sponsored discrimination, as well as the geopolitical maneuvering that Jews in Europe, and in particular German Jews, had to do in order to preserve their too often despised communities. This book is a must read for persons interested in any aspect of modern German Jewish social history.

Book Description
Recent radical developments in genetics focus on a revolutionary new type of "synthetic" biology, which aims not just to understand how living things work, but to build them from scratch. At the same time, new research shows that Neanderthal man was a distinct type of humanbut not our ancestor. The DNA record is an imperfect time machine but it can help reconstruct our pastand, almost inevitable, shape our future, as mankind will almost certainly soon be able to redesign itself. But how will such work be guided? What is needed is a manifesto for life, which acclaimed author Adrian Woolfson delivers in An Intelligent Person's Guide to Genetics, his examination of life and its future possibilities.
Customer Reviews:
Delightful and charming.......2005-03-20
A charming romp through the history and future of life. Woolfson contends that synthetic life is inevitable and that we are at the cusp of what he calls a new Enlightenment, which is every bit as significant as the periods of profound intellectual change which converted modern society from a religious to a secular mode of existence. He uses a panalopy of wonderful anecdotes drawn mostly from the Victorian world, descirbing the antics of a host of colourful characters such as Professor Henry Pepper's ghost and strange talking machines. He even discusses the possibility of making fairies and mythical creatures from scratch. This is not a 'genetics for beginners' book but more a cultured exposition of the most interesting and important parts of genetic and genomic theory. I did not expect all of this so was unexpectedly delighted. I highly recommend it!

Book Description
This lucid and concise examination of the difficult moral issues of today explores the nature of ethics and how we make moral decisions. Options expressed in this highly controversial book have caused uproar among thinkers and campaigners of different persuasions. In no uncertain terms, the renowned philosopher Mary Warnock explains in this book how to distinguish right from wrong in areas ranging from euthanasia to genetic engineering. Drawing on vivid examples from her personal and political life, Warnock illustrates difficult cases to make her point succinctly and persuasively, and with intellectual rigor and keen insight, she clarifies where her views agree and depart for those of contemporary ethical philosophers in the academic mainstream.
