Easy Paper Masks.......2001-08-15
This is a great product for the money. For someone like me who has little patience in constructing things and following directions, these are great! They are extremely easy to put together, seem durable, and my six year old loves them!

Great New Angle On The Bard!.......2004-06-11
For those who may find Mr. Shakespeare somewhat of a chore, or even a bore, check this zany, humorous, but historically accurate book out. Was the Bard Politically Correct, a humdrum Family Values Man, an anti-Semite, or anti- Moor, (Franch, German, Dutch,Italian)..How many murders, infidelities, etc. can be found in the great WS. Starting with Titus Andromicus, among the bloodiest plays ever written, and working thru Hamlet, Othello, Caeser, on and on, this is a great way to learn about views of the the bard thru the ages, and touches on timeless censorship and political / church issues too! Give it a read! Plus excellent for browsing!
Wonderful!.......2000-09-30
I loved this book! I'd definitely recommend it for any college student studying Shakespeare; it'll give you a break from all that dull, monotonous criticism. Even though it's a "humor" book, it does have some intriguing info on what double meanings are found in Shakespeare's plays. You might even find some useful information for research papers (the book even includes a chapter entitled "Racism in Shakespeare"). Great for linguists, Shakespeare fans, and students alike!
Shakespeare's reference to "Horned men".......1999-08-21
It is mentioned in the book that horn could be slang for erect penis and that the "cuckold isn't horny enough". Also quoted was Othello, "A horned man's a monster and a beast".
Perhaps some light could be shed on the "horn" reference.
I have often heard the joke in Russia about a man having "horns". Ofcourse, I didn't understand what my acquaintances were talking about so I asked what "horns" means? Well, after a good chuckle, they told me that "horns" are what a man gets when his wife cheats on him. Then they would take their two index fingers, invert their hands and turn them upright on their head to show me exactly what they were talking about. To them this was all quite halarious. It was a reference totally new to me though, lol.
The reference is quite active in Russia where young men, often married are forced to join the army for two year by universal conscription. I've heard it dozens of times.
So it would seem that the reference "horns" has lost that nuiance in the English language but, still maintains the original Shakespearian nuiance in Russian. Actually, perhaps the term "horns" is still used in the same way in British English!?
Just my two cents. Hope I didn't bore you (haha, no pun intended) too much.

Michael Macrone socks it to the Immoral Bard.......1998-11-26
Those who were forced to study Bill Shakespeare at school will love Michael Macrone, who shows that Bill was as rough as guts and should be called the Immoral Bard, not the Immortal Bard. As well as spreading blood and gore all over the floor, with enough stabbings and hackings to make Sam Peckinpah green with envy, Bill is politically incorrect, being racist, sexist, "anti-Semitic" (though they didn't have that category then)and bawdy enough to make a sailor blush. Bill gets away with it because many of his archaisms are unknown to modern readers. Macrone spells it out, and tracks down his bawdy, blasphemous side which the Bardolatrists choose to ignore. Macrone could also have explored the fact that Shakespeare is a rotten historian, but maybe he does a sufficient demolition number as it is. There is one word of caution;though Bill was down in the gutter with the worst of them, while there he had a glimpse of another side stars. He could write on two levels, for the sophisticate or the yobbo. He could wallow in the gutter, but also lift his mind to the stars. But overall a useful corrective to Bardolatry

Pokemon Stadium.......2001-07-22
Its a great giude for any body. It really helps you too.
This books is a major disappointment!!!!!!.......2000-11-22
I bought this book thinking that it would be really good like the other Prima Pokemon guides. Their Silver/Gold guide is very comprehensive - with more information than the Nintendo guide. But this book is awful. The Ninentdo Version is so much better. If you want a good book for Pokemon Stadium get the Nintendo Guide book. They have full stats on all the Pokemon in the back including which HMs and TMs each Pokemon can use and their skills and their weaknesses. This book only tells you the the type of Pokemon and what it evolves to. My mom can tell you morea about Pokemon and she knows practically nothing. So don't waste your money! DONT BUY THIS BOOK. I am returning mine!
There is a hidden advantage to buying these books...........2000-08-09
My son was willing to"plod" thru these types of books when they were waaaaay beyond his reading level in order to improve his game. So even though I can't say exactly how the book was I an say my son way more than willing to increase his reading ability to master this book. How bad can that be? This book had a motivating effect on my sons ability to read... my opinion way that that was a good thing in my son's case.
Cool Book.......1999-07-03

pokemon stadium 2 Official Nintendo Player's Guide.......2003-07-03
ok, i have to vent somewhere. this is a review for the "official nintendo player's guide," not "prima's official guide," which this is supposed to be a review for. since it's out of print, i can't review it directly, but it is for sale in the z-shops area, or whatever it's called. anyway, these 2 books have the exact same picture on the cover, just different title/text. who knows about the interior. but the one i'm talking about is pure garbage. half the team combos they suggest are bad match-ups. thye could be good, but it's a 50-50 coin toss over half the time. the only reliable part is the classroom competition recommendations. about 1/2 the rest is REALLY bad. a decent player could have written a better book. the writers should be lynched, and i really hope they read this. i would give it 2 stars, because the classroom strategies work, but that should be a given...the bare minimum to even be considered for a rating. so i give it more than it deserves...a 1. please don't waste your time with this book, unless you're looking for a quick route to the crazy farm. if you're serious about using the book for its intended purpose, this horrid book will drive you insane!!
Destroys the Meaning!.......2001-07-20
I have to start out by saying that I am not impressed. Basically, a lot of this book just repeates stuff that the game already tells you. Other than that, it tells you specifically what Pokemon to use! The whole point of being a "Pokemon trainer" is to assemble teams that suit you, not the game! If all you care about is beating the game, then this is very helpful (which is why I rated it three stars). But if you enjoy trying out different teams or beating the game with your just your favorite Pokemon, then this is not for you.

It Works!.......2002-04-08
This really helped me figure out how (including tips and hints) to play the game.
This is a really great book!.......2001-04-01
Before, I was stuck in the Poke Cup Master Ball stage and needed help to get past this psychic trainer. Grrrrr! No matter how hard I try, even if I use my mew from Gold, I can't get by this psychic trainer! His espeon beats me every time and he always always brings the espeon into battle with him! I got Mew from a Pokemon Gold and Silver mall tour my mom took me to and the super duper nice guy installed mew onto my Pokemon Gold cartidge for Game Boy and it is level 100 and I can beat almost any enemy I encounter except this aggravating psychic trainer! Grrrr! This book was the answer and it tells stats on all the trainers from all the cups including the new ones and it tells about the school and the lab and the mini games and that kind of stuff. It also tells about all the Pokemon and attacks. I don't like how you can't use items in the game and also your uploaded Pokemon don't gain experience on this game while battling. I also don't like that you can't use an uploaded Pokemon in the mini games. You have to play with the preset Pokemon for each game. Thanks a lot for this book! Now I'm finally past that grueling psychic trainer!
good golly !.......2001-03-31
This book is surprizingly good, it has tips and strategy to help you with all the different cups. This book tells you how to beat everything in the game, what all the "secrets" are... and teams that they think you should use, they even have their "unbeatable" teams... but over all this book is very helpful, i should be through the game in no time at all.
Customer Reviews:
No tutorial.......2006-01-03
While this book is well written and provides an overview, it is important to note that there is absolutely no tutorial. If you are expecting an instructional section that is set up as a series of steps that progress through levels of difficulty and understanding that provide a working knowlege of the subject (as is implied by the word tutorial in the title)you will not find that in this book.
A very nice book.......2005-09-26
Excellent coverage - I learnt a lot and the examples are very good as well.
Good overview.......2005-08-29
Good overview of the .NET technology. Although it is a bit out of date...
Returned Book to store.......2005-08-04
As a software engineer moving from VC++ to .Net and C#, I did not see the value in this book. Yes, I wanted to understand the .Net environment, but the pertinent subject matter contained in this book was readily available in other books such as "Programming C#" by Jesse Liberty.
The first few chapters are OK, but the author drags on and subsequently put me to sleep. After covering the material that I was most interested in, he moves on to Web programming issues, which are not relevant to my work.
To be honest, I read the first few chapters, skimmed the next few, saw the web info, and returned the book. Maybe I did not give it a fair shot, but I did not see it being useful reference material to hang on to as I navigate thru the world of .Net and C#.
Excellent resource.......2004-06-14
Great flow and excellent content in this easy-to-read and easy-to-follow book on .Net. Highly recommend it for technical managers as well as business users interested in an introduction to .Net

"Vikings sail far west." "Fierce fighting rocks capital of Aztecs." "Fire devastates London." "Horseless carriage frightens the cattle." "Clinton survives impeachment." Millennium Year by Year tells the history of the last thousand years in the form of modern newspaper articles. The articles cover everything from military history, political changes, and scientific discoveries to cultural milestones and obituary notices. For example, headlines from 1949 include: "Russians have the atomic bomb," "Pauling describes sickle cell anaemia," "Orwell's book foresees a grim 1984," "China establishes People's Republic," and "Actor Ronald Reagan earns more than the U.S. president." This updated edition now contains images from late 1999, including the worldwide celebrations on December 31.
This lavishly illustrated book is difficult to put down--not surprising, when each turn of the page reveals gems like "Glass discs offer new eyes for old," "Bavarian sells brown jeans to U.S. miners," and "Black powder is changing warfare" ("A black powder invented in China is likely to revolutionise the nature of warfare for ever"). Some of the choices are odd; it's unlikely that an artist who had sold only one painting would be remembered in the newspapers: "Van Gogh, beset by gloom, kills himself" ("one day his mystical and original art may become fashionable, although it seems unlikely today"). That said, Millennium Year by Year is a beautiful book, perfect for browsing, that will thrill any history buff. --Sunny Delaney
Book Description
Completely revised and updated to include international millennium celebrations!
Customer Reviews:
Good Basic Overview of history.......2006-07-05
From a mainstream point of view. However it is far too Euro-centric to be considered a truly "global" history. This book would receive a higher rating from me if it had said it was a "Western" or "European" chronicle of history but in general it left far too much out of the non-European world. Constant attention was also focused on the "important" people: kings, queens, nobles and what not. I would have preferred to have seen more focus on everyday people and some small snippets on what the life of average, common people were like.
All in all, a decent Euro-centric history book with nice layout, design and photos (hence the 3 stars, really 2.5 but since I cannot do that I decided to be generous) If you want a very basic look at mainstream Western history then this will do; if you are looking for something deeper or more global-oriented then you might be a bit disappointed.
Most engaging history book!.......2002-01-25
Each page reads like the each year's top headline news, complete with colorful illustrations and photos that bring to life historical events starting in year 1000 A.D.
Very informative, and pulls you in to keep reading about people, places, art, medical and technological breakthroughs, wars, coalitions, etc.
Short news articles for easy reading. Any budding student of history will find this to be an excellent resource to learn about world history.
Anyone who looks through these pages will gain more appreciation for the contributions, achievements and sacrifices of earlier generations, as well as the extreme conditions in which they lived. One also becomes more aware of how barbaric wars were waged by leaders propelled by power and greed.
As we witness events that unfurled following the tragedy of the attack on the World Trade Center's twin towers, this book helps explain what prompted the Bin Ladens of the world to wreak such destruction.
Yet, there is a wonderful balance of the beauty of what man has created, evidenced by the near-frenzy of building cathedrals, the incredible works of art one may not even see again, and other examples of the magnificence of the creative and inspired spirit.
Excellent addition to any library, or for coffee table book browsing.
So Much Great Information.......2000-01-03
I would thoroughly recommend this book for anyone. Great read and a lot to read. Will keep you going for a long time, until the next millennium rolls around!
To keep it in stock...........2000-01-02
I first saw this book on Amazon.com looking for a gift for a friend of mine who was a history nut. I bought it for her. I also bought one for my friend who is a Spanish teacher. To quote her, "Thank you so much for the book. It was the hit of Christmas! Everyone wanted to read it!" I told my mom what I got a few friends from online, then she said she wanted one.
So I actually went out to the store and looked at it. The newspaper format, in color, year-by-year, ranginging from 4 years compiled together in the beginning to two pages or more for the 1900's was easy to read and enjoyable. You know how everyone goes to the year that they were born? Well, that is what my mom did when I bought her one for Christmas too!
Enjoy it. Keep it in stock! (I noticed when I first bought it it was only available 2-3 days from Amazon.com. I thought my friend would get it by the New Year. Well, she got it by Christmas (and I only paid for 3-6 day UPS)! It was one of my GOOD experiences with Amazon.com. And, now it says it is available within 24 hours. Good Job Amazon.com!)
Savor History........1999-12-29
How better to look back over 1,000 years than to settle down with Millennium Year By Year's interesting and entertaining selections that can be read in short time slots. A primer to past events. Selected stories will surely send readers seeking more knowledge to related books that offer greater depth of the subject matter. If the past is your thing, I suggest also reading lesser known LIFE WITH NOAH. The book is a keeper -- a nice repast from the documented political history of the last millennium. Thoughtout time interesting characters have often sought isolation from civilization for a variety of reasons. Of all so-called hermits, Noah John Rondeau had a magnetic attraction that drew hundreds of people to seek out his isolated diggings along the Cold River in the Adirondacks, the earth's most ancient mountain range. Readers don't need to be outdoors' minded to enjoy nature and to experience what life was like far from the cookie jar. An abundance of vintage photographs enhance an already good read.
Customer Reviews:
Incredible Book On World History.......2007-09-13
I am a high school student, and I use this book in my Gifted AP World History class. Now, normally, I am not exactly a fan of social studies courses, but this world history course, and hence, this book, are quite fascinating. I won't get on the topic of the hours of work assigned from outlining and doing all sorts of tasks for supposed maximum retention and comprehension, which are, unsurprisingly, less than fascinating. Despite these hours, the book itself and the content in it is a very authoritative and accurate view of world history. It hits all of the major points and does a very god job of presenting the material.
good but not mine.......2005-09-30
the book was in great condition but i have returned it because i requested the wrong book.
Customer Reviews:
If you love history.......2007-09-02
If you love history, this is the book for you! Goes over everything in DEEP detail!!! This is a COLLEGE book so it's definitely hard to read and understand but you will definitely enjoy it!
Boycott this book.......2003-12-16
This is an OK book, but unfortunately Bentley's predatory practice of reorganizing the same information or renumbering the chapters every year or so keeps students buying the expensive paperback, selling it back for far less to bookstores which then cannot sell it. The contents of the book are indistinguishable from other editions; you don't need the newest one.
If you need this book for a class, buy a used one and refuse to support Bentley's intellectual laziness.
Awesome book!.......2002-09-07
We order a used version of this book and are amazed by how good of condition it came in and all! It was great and a personal note was included in the box which made it all the better!
Book Description
From the Beginnings to 1500, Chapters 1-22 This groundbreaking world history text has, in its first edition, become a market leader by offering a fresh, global perspective on the past. The text is unique in approach; covering the world as a whole, examining the formations and development of the world’s major societies (“traditions”), and also systematically exploring cross-cultural interactions and exchanges that have been some of the most effective agents of change in all of world history (“encounters”). In addition, the authors have taken great care in constructing a coherent vision of the past that is not weighed down by a mass of detail, thus enabling instructors to incorporate additional readings of their choosing. Finally the text emphasizes that historical processes work themselves out through the lives and experiences of individual human beings, opening each chapter with an account of individual experiences that illuminate themes in that chapter. The second edition includes scholarship updates throughout and revisions to organization and content.

The WORST history text I've ever had the displeasure of reading. My poor professor had just started, and they had selected this for history class without his consent. We hardly ever used it after the first 2 months. Professors, seriously, choose a different book. There are hundreds better than this.
