Book Description
Kiyomaro Takaminé is a brilliant junior high student whose inflated ego (and tendency to blow the grading curve) has made him a major target for teasing at school. So his father sends him a bizarre birthday present--a strange little boy named Gash--to help him make friends and reform his bad attitude. Gash brings with him a mysterious red volume of spells, and Kiyomaro discovers that Gash has magic powers that are unleashed by reading from the book! But there are more surprises to come, and Kiyomaro's destiny is about to change forever!

Cute or Foiled?.......2007-04-20
Zatch Bell! is for all ages, which is considered rubbish to teenagers and adults alike. In my opinion, this manga has some potential, and likeable characters. Although I have no idea how the Japanese version is like, I enjoy this manga all the same.
Basically, it's about a teenage boy receiving a child for his fourteenth birthday; things get more complicated - or rather, exciting - in later volumes.
Rather funny, actually, I cannot explain this manga accurately. It's just something you should see for yourself, now isn't it? This manga only receives three stars, for the fact that I don't enjoy it much anymore. Ironic, is it not?
I recommend this manga to all ages, and for someone who wants to see some cute and clean characters. But if you absolutely hate (with such an intensity and with a passion) hyperactive children and senseless situations, then back away from the computer monitor...
Oops! Viz did it again.......2006-07-08
To any fan of Konjiki no Gash Bell, do not buy this manga. Viz Media has edited what could have been great. All of the names are either completely changed or shortened. All the names of the spells are shortened. Viz would even dare to mess with the artwork and give undearwear on "Zatch" in the beiginning of the book. Well Viz, I give you 1 star for this one. This is not what Makoto Raiku wanted us to see, and I would highly recommend watching the fansubbed episodes of the TV series instead of this manga on [...].
This is so awesome!.......2005-12-29
I love this manga! Here are the main characters:
Kiyo
Kiyo is this genius who skips school because he thinks it couldn't teach him anything. He looks down upon everyone except his dad as an ignorant fool. EVERYONE.
Zatch
Zatch can't really think of a negative and he looks at everything positively. He doesn't really have any limits and can cause trouble everywhere. Zatch changes Kiyo's personality and helps him make friends.
I am not giving you any spoilers to the manga. Read it yourself.

An Interesting Look At The Making Of The Movie.......2003-03-31
This book details the behind the scenes look at the making of Dick Tracy. IT shows how Warren Beatty came up with the idea to take the comic strip and transfer it to the big screen. How he had to make the Universal Studios backlot look like a comic strip world, and the intense casting and choreography that came with the job. The intriguing special and visual effects and just how difficult it was to come up with some of the costumes and film some of the effects shots. It was a very long drawn out process for everyone involved, but it paid off very well in the end as the film became one of the top box-office grossing films of 1990. This book is definitely interesting to read especially if you're into wanting to know how movies are made and the techniques used. This book covers all the bases, and I give it an A+!!!
Book Description
What makes a good school? A prominent Harvard educator looks for the answers in six schools that have earned reputations for excellence: George Washington Carver High School in Atlanta; John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx, New York; Highland Park High School near Chicago; Bookline High School in Brookline, Massachusetts; St. Paul's in Concord, New Hampshire; and the Milton Academy, near Boston.

A nice person.......2007-06-11
At the end of her book Sarah Lightfoot confesses that "the social scientist engaged in portraiture should recognize the potential impact of the work on inidviduals and institutions." Encapsulated within that sentence are most of the things that made me dislike this book.
Ms. Lightfoot wanted desperately to find 'good' in American high schools. She traveled from New Engliand to the Midwest to ferret out this goodness. She openly states that she doesn't care for the negativity that so many writers display in their books and articles about the US secondary education system. She was determined to find good people doing good things. She found them.
Unfortunately the reader is left, after reading "The Good High School" with hundreds of doubts, reservations and questions. Occasionally Ms. Lightfoot peers down dark corridors at the schools she visits; she hints that not everyone is happy, contented, dedicated professionals. But just as she spots potential trouble she quickly steers her narrative back to the sanguine, uplifting, hopeful fairy tale she set out to write.
In Sarah's world all teachers are divided into three groups: bad, good and 'stars'. She reveals that some of the schools she visited steered her to the latter group yet she doesn't seem to find this unsettling. And never does she dare to nuance her judgments about teachers. Could it be that a teacher could be a 'star' in the eyes of administrators and something less to some of his or her students? Could a teacher be good at discipline but bad at pedagogy; a star when it comes to honors students but a chump with non-college-bound kids? Sarah doesn't say. Such distinctions would spoil the nice, two-dimensional (good and evil) world she lives in.
You won't be surprised that the only person who comes in for unmitigated criticism in this book is Jonathan Kozol. She makes no reference to writers like John Taylor Gatto, John Holt, Herbert Kohl or Frank Smith. None is listed in her bibliography. She relates in her last chapter that the book is "portraiture' based on research with an aim toward objectivity, yet no data is produced and little or no supporting evidence is ever given for her assessments of the people and institutions she evaluates.
Sarah Lightfoot is a nice person, obviously. I recommend her for the job of paving the road to hell. She'd be a natural.
An inspiration for shaping organizational change........1999-03-18
Sara Lightfoot is an incredible author that writes with style, candor and vividness that allows one to experience the context as though he/she is actually involved rather than examining the process vicariously. The author recognizes that it is important for readers to be able to place these high schools in context, visualize the terrain, the community and the people. Lightfoot has done this by working through the inside out, much like an artist painting a portrait capturing the essence of truth with a myriad of dimensions. Lightfoot offers a penetrable look inside high schools whhile exploring the inherent goodness of schools. She provides a description of "goodness" as not being static nor an absolute quality that can be measured as a single indicator of success of effectiveness but a mixture of parts that produce the whole. This mixture encompasses less tangible, more elusive qualities that can only be discerned through close, vivid description, through subtle nuances, and thhrough detailed narratives that reveal the sustaining values of an institution. A quality that is evident of Lightfoot throughout the text is that she looks for the"good" in all six schools, even though they are not equal. All too often, rersearchers get caught up in identifying a cause or over-emphasining the negeative aspects while allowing the "good" qualities to go unnoticed. Lightfoot goes the extra mile is this respect by bringing forth the good in each school. It is through work such as this that researchers can learn many transferable lessons that can be utilized in a wide array of research studies. With this in mind, I give Sara Lightfoot's book, The Good High School, a five star rating.

A fair book.......2000-06-07
What effect do Novas have on our world? After reading Aberrant: The Storyteller's screen, you'll have some idea. Unfortunately, it just may not be enough. Kraig Blackwelder makes a heroic attempt to cram all sorts of good info into a book that is a mere 72 pages long. In it, you will find some pretty good detail about the world of 2008. Novas are mortals, heroes, and Gods all rolled into one Quantum-charged package; It's natural that there would be businesses built by them, comics based on them, and people to worship them. The Stroyteller's screen gives us something to work with. The pre-made, self contained story "Permanent Vacation" is excellent; easily one of the best for a fledgling Storyteller or a group of new players. Enough key players are given, especially for the Nova-only club "The Amp Room," that the section is useful even if you have no intent on running the story. Plentiful flavor text fills out the book, but it does seem to fall short at times. The bottom line? You can run a game without it. That's pretty much true for any supplement book in any Roleplaying game. Some people will love it, others won't. Technically, I believe it deserves another half-star, it's definitely worth a read.
Some like it some don't.......2000-04-01
As is usual with the White Wolf line of products they offer the screen to cover "the information you do not want them to see" together with a booklet that contains a few interesting facts of the setting (just to help you understand this world better) as well as a small adventure for starting players. A word of advise: if any of your players has bought a lot of powers with the tainted option (it is cheaper that way but can be abused very easily) you should beef up the antagonists, regular characters would sweat and cry to finish the story but a powerful nova just would wipe them like dust. The screen provides tables which are not very useful overall, but good enough to help you out of the problem. My opinion? If you are short on money better buy more useful books, buy if you like to use screens it is O.K. to have.

Excellent Comprehensive J2EE Review, and More!.......2007-09-24
I primarily purchased this book for Review for SCEA exam.
It provides a complete review of Architecture, J2EE Overview, Documentation, Design Patterns, Security, Internationalization, Protocols, and impotantly, Case Study.
Reading these chapters and working the Case Study, helped me understand the entire overall concept as well as, enough details so I could understand my short commings. Therefore the references listed in this book to other books with more details are very useful.
I think that this book is very important for the technical people getting ready for SCEA test, but it is MORE:
1. It can be great help for managers to get an excellent understanding, and
2. It is also great help for detail code developers to get a good taste of the overall and higher level view of the entire J2EE!
I hope that the authors are working on the next revision.
Too Expensive.......2007-07-29
Too Expensive for such a short book. Its like a review of a real book.
Very useful.......2007-01-15
If your primary objective is obtaining the SCEA certification, this book is a powerful guideline for passing the SCEA exam. It contains interesting tips that can help you.
However, if your objective is collecting information about take architecture decisions, you must read more specifics books.
It is greate book.......2006-11-11
It is very good book for the people who would like to understand the exam's subject.
Very simple book.......2006-11-03
I purcahse this book with some other expectations.
The book cover all the subject in the exam but in a poorly way.

Customer Reviews:
too many errors.......2007-07-23
The book has a lot of errors, but is actually good in some areas. The CDROM is unbelievable. It is as if it were a first draft of the book. The practice exams on the CD make no sense at times and are worthless as a study aid.
very good book.......2006-11-16
The overall quality of the book is very good. The JMS chapter is particularly terrific.
a bit informatin here and there.......2006-08-28
The book has some useful information about J2EE here and there, but since this is a book serves a guidance for the SCEA exam, most of the contents are either too shallow or irrelevant for that purpose. Don't expect that you can rely on this book only and pass the exam.
There are some errors in the self check questions, but most of the time, the answers given are the oppsite of the correct answers to the question asked and I believe these are editing problems.
Copied from Sun Documentation.......2006-05-25
The statements in the book reads as a SUN document. So if you dont want to take the trouble to sit in front of a computer and search through all the links for certification objectives in SUN website, you can purchase this book.
Poorly written book with many redundant and confusing info.......2006-01-05
I am using this book for J2EE study. After reading chapter 1 and 2, I have to say this is one of the worst tech books I ever read. The materials are harshly composed, often without a consistent and clear framework on various topics (what an irony on a book about a framework). From time to time, I have the impression that the authors just pulled some paragraphs from various articles and piled them together. This gives me the further impression that the authors don't really understand those subjects well enough to distill the essentials out and present them in an organized manner. Unless you are already an expert in those subjects, you will find yourself confused by this book and walk away with more questions than before.
Definitely not recommended for anybody.
Book Description
Drawn from great speeches, constitutional documents, philosophy, private letters and diaries, religious works, and histories, the 300 extracts in this collection mark defining moments in the progress of humankind through four millennia on its path to political, religious, and intellectual freedom. This volume affirms human achievement on every page. Among its many and diverse voices are Anne Frank, Plato, Lillian Hellman, William Wordsworth, John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, Tom Paine, Sir Walter Raleigh, Demosthenes, Florence Nightingale, Winston Churchill, St. Francis, and Jesus. Their words find the sense in the variable course of human events, and their truths survive the vicissitudes of history. Arranged chronologically, the documents present centuries of truths that have set men and women free. Among the anthology’s highlights are the last speech of Socrates, on his condemnation to death in 399 B.C; Nelson Mandela’s 1964 speech from the dock; Emile Zola’s “J’accuse,” Peter Millar on the tearing down of the Berlin Wall; Thomas Paine’s “The Rights of Man”; Mary Wollstonecraft’s “Vindication of the Rights of Women”; former slave Frederick Douglass’s open letter to his former master; Lion Feuchtwanger’s letter to X, on the Nazi confiscation of his house; and Abelard writing to Heloise on eternal love.

This is a faith-building and eye-opening exploration of the scientific and literary themes in the opening chapters of the Bible. With attention to everything from theories about the age of the earth to the extent of Noah's flood, there is something for everyone in this readable, informative look at Genesis 1-11. The author attempts to show science and the Bible ned not be pitted against one another in the minds of sincere, informed believers.

Yes.......2004-12-15
This book by Doug Jacoby is really good. I don't know why the previous reviewer gave it a low rating and still enjoyed the book. At any rate, this book will inspire your faith. You will learn to approach and understand Genesis in a different light. Doug Jacoby is not dogmatic at all. He is open and presents his thoughts clearly. He even gives you his e-mail address if you have any suggestions. This book is a classic for understanding Genesis.

Genesis From The Pen of Jacoby.......2004-05-28
Dr. Douglas Jacoby is one of the best speakers and writers in the International Churches of Christ. The ICOC has been making many changes over the past few years and Jacoby is one of the leaders encouraging these changes. His writing style is graceful, biblical, and he differs where he has to with the standard interpretations.
This book is an updated version of THE GOD WHO DARED. The book explores the first eleven chapters of Genesis. Jacoby takes a theistic evolution approach to Genesis 1-2. While I differ with him over this issue, Jacoby is clear that he believes God created all things and by His Word they are held together (Hebrews 1:1-3). The book offers great insights into Genesis and will encourage you in your faith.

Book Description
The maintenance of the world's rich variety of plants, animals, microorganisms and ecosystems has at last been recognized as a critical need for mankind's survival and prosperity. The issue is no longer the concern of a small group of nature conservationists, but has entered the agendas of major organizations such as the World Bank, the Brundtland Commission, the World Health Organization and FAO. South African scientists and administrators have a unique resource of information, understanding and experience in the field of biotic diversity management. This volume assesses the conservation status of southern African biota and ecosystems, the value of biotic diversity to southern African people, and approaches to the evaluation, protection and monitoring of biotic diversity in the region.
