This manga is interesting, really long, and so beautiful. The drawings are elegent and kind of dream like. You wouldn't think they would work as well with this kind of story as they do. I highly reccommend this volume for all manga fans.

Newtype and Animage are my favorite anime mags, and now I get to read the amazing FSS manga that appeared in them! For years I stared at the pictures and tried to imagine what they were saying to each other...well, not any more. Now I get to read about the adventures of the Headliners, Fatimas, and the Emperor, all in English!

This is a must for any manga collector to have, serious or not! You won't regret it!

I have been purchasing Newtype for years, and have always wanted to read The Five Star Stories. But I am just learning to read Japanese, so it was slow going (when it went at all.) But now, thanks to the wonderful people who printed this English language version, I can now read the story that I have admired for so long!

The art is superb, the story is exciting, and the characters draw you in and hold you there. I like how Mamoru Nagano has mixed the mythology of various countries and combined them with the technological driven dreams of our time. He has put an interesting spin on a cliche'd situation, and that is great! Kudos to you!

It may be hard to understand at first, but once you get into it, it's great!

I would love to be able to describe the plot to you, but I'm not sure I can remember that much of it. That's not to say that it lacks a plot--my memory is just incredibly bad.

Anyway, try it for yourself! The books are relatively cheap (at least where I bought them, so that's a plus.

Terrific art, gripping story, entrancing characters, and mythology all together in a reasonably priced package? What more encouragement do you need?

Katchmerites Rejoice!.......2002-07-05

The late George Katchmer of Millersville, PA, was beloved by the readers of Classic Images. And no wonder. For more than a decade Katchmer profiled the stars, villains, heroines, supporting players and even riding extras in silent westerns. Yes, SILENT westerns, a niche in film history covered by hardly anyone at all. Month after month, the reader could find career profiles of everyone from Walter Ackerman to Chief Yowlachie. According to his legion of fans, Katchmer was meticulous to a fault. That, however, remains debatable. In this writer's opinion, George sometimes gave up a wee bit too soon. As the time, to list but one example, when he announced that "nothing could be found" concerning data on starlet Virginia Lee who, unbeknownst to Katchmer, was still alive and interviewed in the very same issue of Classic Images. (Blame for this faux pas, however, probably rightfully belongs to the editor of the magazine). Sadly, such caveats reappear in "A Biographical Dictionary of Silent Film Western Actors and Actresses," a complete collection of Katchmer's thumb-nail bios through the years. We learn, for example, that 2-reel cowboy star Curley Witzel "is a question mark." But in reality, Witzel has been profiled in such magazines as "Wrangler's Roost" and by this writer ... And, once again, "nothing could be found" regarding Virginia Lee, who, in fact, was interviewed for a very recent McFarland book, Boyd Magers and Michael Fitzgerald's "Ladies of the Western." Why the three stars, then, I hear you ask. Well, because this handsome book comes with literally hundreds of portraits and scene stills of the profiled actors and actresses, making identification so much easier for further research. George Katchmer, his son John and McFarland should be heartily congratulated for including this many wonderful and quite rare illustrations. In fact, George even scared up a remarkable photo of the apparently so elusive Mr. Witzel!

This book really helped me to understand QuickBooks Simple Start much better than I expected. You really need this book, if you have Simple Start. Everything is explained in a clear manner and it's very easy to understand the program. If you are stuck, I suggest you buy the book. It will come in handy for any problem you may be having or may have in the future.

It was a privilege to learn the subjects of SEM and TEM from the the author of this book himself (David Joy). This is an excellent book which starts from the basics and it depends on the researcher how deep he wanna go. The book provides in depth analysis as well if required. Great resource book.

Excellent text.......2000-10-12

Goldstein et al have written a book that serves as an excellent introduction to the SEM, and is also a formidable reference. When I took SEM at NC State University, it was taught from this book. Between our professor and this text, I learned the ins and outs of the SEM, and I keep the book within arms reach whenever I'm at work.

Goldstein covers everything from the basics of operation, through image formation, sample prep, usage in particular fields of study -- everything!

If you get one SEM book, get this one.

A very good text book to own.......2000-09-22

This is an excellent textbook for graduate students majoring in Materials Science. The text is easy to read, and accompanied by plenty of photographs and schematics, is easy to understand. Covers almost every aspect of SEM and X-ray micro-analysis e.g. underlying science, technology, and practical use. Each chapter begins at a basic level and gradually develops the subject to intricate detail, and depending on the level of study one may skip chapters or part of a chapter.

Excellent resource for Electron Microscopists.......1999-02-20

This book, although not the newest textbook on the market, is THE textbook to have if you are looking for the history, theory or applications of electron microscopy and x-ray microanalysis. Well written, thorough and packed full of well-designed diagrams illustrating the principles described. I've used this textbook in classroom and laboratory settings with excellent results. Looking forward to the next edition!

Karen R. Jones' very specific title, Wolf Mountains: A History Of Wolves Along the Great Divide, will hold special appeal to those interested in American and Canadian wildlife conservation in general and wolf conservation efforts throughout Canada and the United States in particular. Karen Jones provides a blended focus on Canadian and American national parks, and the wolf's place in their ecological systems, including examining interactions between wolves and people in four Rocky Mountain regional parks. The different terrains and histories of these Canadian and American parks (including the Yellowstone National Park), makes for a fine foundation for surveying the history of human/wolf encounters from early to modern times.
