got this book as a christmas gift. what a treat! it is in full color with challenging puzzles for those kinds of people that are good with spatial abilities.

It is a close call when trying to decide if the most beautiful aspect of this book is the extent of the detail of the images of the puzzles or the puzzles themselves. The coloration, contrast, orientations and three-dimensional aspects of the images are astonishing and the publishers are to be commended for spending the extra resources to achieve the high quality. Many of them even have realistic looking shadows.
The puzzles fit into many categories, some are putting structures together to make shapes, others are identifying and categorizing the orientations of collections of objects and some require that you move objects to achieve a specific orientation. I was able to solve some within a few seconds, others took a few minutes, where I needed to draw explanatory figures and some I simply got wrong. Solutions to all are included, but only the minimum of explanation is given.
The prettiest set of puzzles that I have ever seen, this is a book that artists can enjoy. It could serve as a textbook in how to correctly create images for books.

This book is the ideal one to people that have to understand the principles of project management, but with focus in IT. Even though it can not give you a complete overview of project management principles (for this, you have to use PMBOK, from PMI), here you can find all the information necessary to manage IT projects.

Where Are the Files?.......2007-03-27

I am currently on Chapter 8 of this twelve chapter book. So far, it's a clearly written review of IT Project Management with usefull apendices for connecting the subject matter to Comp TIA Project+ certification. The bad news is the publishers and author did not review the enclosed CD to assure that all of the files the author refers to are on the CD. So far, I have found four missing files, two of them are needed for completing review exercises at the end of chapters. I searched both McGraw Hill/Osborne and Joseph Philip's websites for the missing files, but could not find them.

The text itself is a good selection for anyone studying for the Project+ certificate, but I cannot give an above average rating to a project management product that does not deliver all promised deliverables.

Personnellement (et à ma propre surprise!), les 2 premiers chapitres (Starting & Researching the Project) m'ont étés les plus informatifs.

This text is for the technical manager. It breaks down your project management duties into narrower, more specific tasks. Like putting together a project team. Which involves determining what tasks need to be tackled, and finding those people qualified to do so.

Project planning is shown using various graphical approaches like network diagrams. These and other types of graphs are vital in letting you plan a schedule and then measure adherence to it.

Quality is also prominently discussed. There are suggestions on how to measure these in the deliverables. Unlike manufacturing, this can be difficult. The book only touches upon the complexities here. You should look elsewhere for a more thorough analysis of quality measurement.

Very Good Exam Prep and Fundamental PM knowledge.......2005-10-12

I used this text and the SelfTest Test Engine (PKO-002) - I took the Project+ exam today (10/11/2005) and passed - No Problem! I'm definetly adding this book to my reference shelf. Thanks for an excellent treatment of the subject matter and subject exam Mr. Phillips.

One Man's Views.......2005-07-07

This book is poorly written, but far worse is that the author, while making numerous generalizations, cites almost nothing (four pages of notes). A collection of one expert's views without evidential support, John Weiss' book is practically useless to those doing serious research into the Holocaust.

An excellent analysis of Anti-Semitism in Europe........2004-01-27

The book is well-balanced and easy-to-understand exploration on Anti-Semitism in Europe, especially in Germany, Austria, Poland, France and Italy. In the opening chapter, the author points five origins of Anti-Semitism, that is, confrontation with Christianity, commercial reasons, denunciations of Jewish liberal and progressive movements, (biased) influences of Anthropology (Eugenics), and ethnic nationalism; however, the author offers an excellent account of the histrical process of Anti-Semitism from late nineteenth century to th Holocaust. It is also interesting that the author explains why and how Anti-Semitism made a difference among countries mentioned-above; what seems to be the most significant is the reasons why only in Italy Anti-Semitism did not prevail. Far from any prejudice, a very lucid work!

Statistics text for people who understand statistics.......2000-05-03

Kuehl covers a lot of statistical designs, and provides great examples and practice problems. However, the book is not "user friendly" even for student who have had several semesters coursework in regression analysis. Also, the author tends to change his notation from chapter to chapter without telling the reader, thus creating great confusion. For example "r" or "k" could signify replicate. Some sections are poorly organized.
