an intriguing account of the drug that shaped the eighties and spawned many to turn their backs on shallow materialism and work toward a more enlightened and "cognitively aware" life.

Explores the known or rumored dangers and offers an intelligent approach to diving within your own nervous system as an informed neuronaut bent not just on hedonism, but on coming through the other side with enlightenment.

Read along with the works of Shulgin for a more sensible version of drugs than the one your government feeds you!

All about Ecstasy.......2001-04-17

Through interviews, anecdotes, extracts and analysis, this book looks at the cultural impact of the drug Ecstasy from its early days in the gay club scene through today. Excerpts from newspaper articles, interviews with those involved in the early club scene are great. The 15-page bibliography is unbelievable, as is the list of 50 or so Web sites.

The authors have done an admirable job at not taking sides on the ecstasy debate. They give treatment to medical information, police and government reports, newspaper accounts as well as the comments of users. This approach makes the book more important and long-lasting than a "isn't this cool" book that links music and E in the club scene only.

Cover is worth the price alone.......2004-11-11

This is a charming historical snapshot of the late Nicholas Saunders' extended volume of research into MDMA. Highlights include a poignant tale of rekindled love, and an eye opening essay on Euoropean Football (Soccer) hooligans gone mellow on X.

Admittedly, this is not the #1 best book on MDMA available on the market. It is dated, and "Ecstasy, the MDMA Story," by Bruce Eisner is my preferred handbook to MDMA from that era. Still, Saunders' book is fairly well researched, gives a more Eurocentric angle, contrasted with Eisner's USA focus, and promises to be the flashiest, most spectacular looking book on your shelf. The front and back covers, as well as the entire spine are created out of a magnificent color changing glittery, shimmery paper. It is a very shiny paper, so hold the book up to your face, and you will see a striking self image, floating amongst the rainbows.

Texas never ceases to fascinate me and this book just adds to that charm! My whole family has enjoyed it, from the 17 year old all the way up to old fuddy-duddy granddad.

Has Good Overview. Could be better.......2003-07-16

It covers many topics around Visual Studio.net. Its coverage of Debugging(Chap 3), Macros(Chap 8) are good.

One missing piece is Web Services with Visual Studio.net. I didn't find any related information in it. Also, serveral times, when I needed some information about Visual Studio.net, I couldn't find it in this book. Though I've been using VS.net for several months, I never needed most of the information in this book.

Lots of good material.......2003-07-06

I have to admit that when I picked up a copy of this book, I was expecting a rather out of date re-hash of much of Microsoft's Visual Studio documentation. I was pleasantly surprised. Even though Visual Studio .NET 2003 only recently became commercially available, this book is written for the new IDE (rather than last year's model). The book goes through the basics of projects, debugging, and even macros (in addition to a wide range of other topics).

This book follows the basic flow a programmer would follow when setting up and creating a project in Visual Studio, which makes it easy to follow along (especially if you are new to VS.NET). After a discussion on setting up a project (including the differences between the various project types), the reader is presented with a discussion on debugging tips and techniques (including debugging configuration in the project's properties). Since web projects are a little different from creating a Windows application, there is a whole chapter dedicated to configuration and debugging of a web application. Other chapters include a discussion on how to perform database work through the IDE, and instructions on developing installation projects.

My absolute favorite chapter, however, was on Automation, Macros, and Add-ins. In this chapter, the reader learns the basics of creating macros that integrate directly into VS.NET. If you are familiar with recording macros in the Microsoft Office applications, you will be pleased to learn that the syntax and functionality is similar (although instead of writing macros in VBA, they are written in VB.NET). There is then further discussion on automating the IDE to perform scheduled tasks (like automated builds).

Nice overview of Visual Studio.......2003-04-15

The book deals with mostly an overview of VS .Net features. They give a general guideline on how to write VS solutions / projects - components - scripts, amd how to debug programs. I bought the book mostly since it's the only one I found that discusses VSIP. I did not find a lot of information on VSIP 7 pages long chapter which barly discusses an overview. The book authors tried their samples on both VS 2002 and VS 2003. I would not recommend this book to people who are brand new VS users or experts on VS. I would recommend it for some users how are looking for some extra shortcuts / functionality here and there. I'm giving this book 3 stars since I would have expected a bit more in debth analysis and more samples.

Lots of information.......2003-04-10

I found this book to be very helpful for researching the tangled web of the Merovingians, however, it has one infuriating problem and that is the author assumes the reader knows Latin. There are many key passages given from documents and medieval histories in Latin with no translation afterwards! I hope this book will be reissued with the Latin sections translated.
