I decided to give this book a chance in providing me essential elements of a typical intraday technical trading system. Sure I wasn't expecting a copy-paste daytrade system that suits everyone.. if there ever was one...
It's just, if you're starting out in daytrading (asuming you've been doing numerous of position & swing trades) looking for honest information, this book does the job. Eclectic but essential and honest. The actual job of creating a profitable system, simple or complex, still is yours.. .

Decent book.......2002-09-08

This is not your ordinary trading book, but one that teaches some real "usable" techniques. The book is broken up into chapters written by different people, so the tone of voice will change frequently. The prize of this book is the Seleznov breakout method, which anyone can use to trade profitably for life. That alone is worth thousands of times the price of this book. I'd recommend this for any serious amateur/semi-pro level short term trader who may be lacking a consistent trading system.

Strategies you can use.......2002-03-15

I have read many "trading" books, and find this one a pleasant suprise. Section Two includes a good source of trading strategies that work, each one written by people who actually trade. Strategies covered include 1) pure price action by Gary Smith, 2) breakouts by Mark Seleznov, 3) seasonals by Steve Moore, et.al., 4) patterns by Mark Etzkorn, 4) springs and upthrusts by Hank Pruden, 5) Bow Tie patterns by Dave Landry, and a few others.

The strategies include a good summary of setups, entries, stops, and exits. These summaries are general enought that you can program them in most any backtest software you use, not just Tradestation or C++. I use them to backtest with TC2000 and TC Companion.

The book also has very good information on risk mangement, the mechanics of trading and the mindset of different trading styles.

The great thing about this book, is that it is a well integrated compilation of tools and techniques from a variety of well known and/or highly successful traders. The editor did a wonderful job of taking this diverse group and integrating the book into a very logical and usable flow.

While it may be too much for the pure beginner, this book will be most appreciated by the intermediate to advanced trader.

Eclectic, but useful.......2002-01-02

This is an eclectic book. It doesn't focus on a major theme and is a collection of different people's views plus the author's.

I would not recommend this book for beginners who want to learn the basics because I don't feel the foundation is thorough.

It is a good book for those who want to see how others trade, their diverse techniques, and their opinions on trading. Also of value are the risk management techniques.

A more appropriate title would be: Different techniques by various traders and other trading tips.

Good Book - Like it.......2001-05-03

This is a good book that tells it like it is. It made me stop and think before I risked my money in the stock market. It was written by a group of writers who seem to know their stuff. It talks about a subject which many day trading books do not! It is risk mgmt. If you wanted to learn about NASDAQ, this is a good book. If you wanted to learn about the NYSE, I would read another one. The thing though is the diveresity in topics covered in this book. I do recommend it to begginers and intermediate traders. Beware that after reading this book, you may end up postponing your plans to trade in a rush.

This book analyzes the intricate logical process through which the quantum theory was developed, and shows that the quantum mechanics thus established is governed by stereo-structural logic. The method of analysis is based on Mituo Taketani's three-stage theory of scientific cognition, which was presented and developed in close connection with Yukawa's theory of the meson. According to the three-stage theory, scientific cognition proceeds through a series of coiling turns of the phenomenological, substantialistic and essentialistic stages. The old quantum mechanics is shown to be in a substantialistic stage, followed by the quantum mechanics in the corresponding essentialistic stage.

The authors of these essays, who include Robert Sardello, Thomas Moore, and James Hillman, attempt to explore these virginal demands in greater detail.

Just as in Joanne Stroud's "The Olympians: Ancient Deities as Archetypes", this novel deals with the Jungian concept of archetypes. An archetype is a similar representation of a concept present in every person's mind despite cultural and difference in generation. Common archetypes are those of a god, a hero, man or woman which are present in every culture. The difference between simple categorization and archetypes is that an archetypal image is percieved as in dreams, visions, and fantasies. The book is divided into 8 parts, each dealing with social, cultural or psychological perceptions of this "virginal archetype." The book does a very in depth job of providing different points of view and opinions about virginity. Even though the different essays may be read separetly, I would recommend reading all of them and then trying to formulate your own opinion. If you are not interested in virginity as a subject, it is still interesting read from a psychological eye-view.

For much of the Middle Ages, the Lara family was among the most powerful aristocratic lineages in Spain. Protégés of the monarchy at the time of El Cid, their influence reached extraordinary heights during the struggle against the Moors. Hand-in-glove with successive kings, they gathered an impressive array of military and political positions across the Iberian Peninsula. But cooperation gave way to confrontation, as the family was pitted against the crown in a series of civil wars. This book, the first modern study of the Laras, explores the causes of change in the dynamics of power, and narrates the dramatic story of the events that overtook the family. The Laras' militant quest for territorial strength and the conflict with the monarchy led toward a fatal end, but anticipated a form of aristocratic power that long outlived the family. The noble elite would come to dominate Spanish society in the coming centuries, and the Lara family provides important lessons for students of the history of nobility, monarchy, and power in the medieval and early modern world.

In northern Castile, in the coastal mountains fronting the Bay of Biscay, are a number of small farming villages now bound in pastoral poverty but which a thousand years ago were the original domain of the Lara family who supplied the earliest counts of Castile, beginning with the successes of Gonzalo Fernandez de Lara in the Reconquista, and who remained influential in neighboring León until late in the 14th century, when they lost a serious confrontation with the crown. This monograph provides a straightforward survey of the national political aspects of the family's history, especially their role as favorites during the long reigns of Alfonso VII and Alfonso VIII in the 12th century. The author omits both the web of client relationships they established (a complex subject all on its on) and the branch of the family that established itself in Narbonne.

I've always had an interest in European history, and so it was only natural that I would give this book a read, especially since I had Dr. Doubleday as a Professor at the time. I must say that I thought it was well-crafted and well-presented, with special attention paid to how the Laras came into prominence and what they did to stay there. They truly were a much more dominant force in medieval Spanish politics than I think even most history buffs realize. I highly recommend this book, but the one thing that prevented it from getting the fifth star is the [money amount] price tag. Come out with a paperback and see how it sells.

This publication won, not just the best publication in hemostasis, not just the best publication in hematology, but in all of medical science (Assoc American Publishers, 2002). A well deserved award.
