Book Description
This insightful study provides an excellent overview of the current global employment situation, and examines the effectiveness of existing policies in today's economic climate. It presents employment realistically as a complex issue, and helps readers to see it not just in terms of income and economic growth, but also as highly dependent on national circumstances and institutions.
Throughout the volume, special emphasis is placed on issues of employment equality-such as freedom of association and workers' participation, and nondiscrimination and equal opportunity. In particular, the study demonstrates how ILO standards and recommendations, which effectively set the parameters for national employment strategies, can help improve the world employment situation by encouraging a comprehensive approach to policy issues. In a section concentrating on developing countries, the book reviews determinants of growth, labor demand, and poverty alleviation. It also includes critiques of certain policies and discusses the ILO's contribution to ensuring socially acceptable outcomes of the economic growth process.

Book Description
A STEP-BY-STEP PROGRAM THAT SHOWS PARENTS WHAT TO DO AT EACH STAGE OF A CHILD'S LIFE TO PROVIDE WEALTH FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.
If you're like most parents, you know that you should start saving for your children's future but you're just not sure where to begin.
In Make Your Kid a Millionaire, Kevin McKinley presents eleven easy ways parents can give their children a college education, a home, a comfortable retirement, and a chance to reach their goals without looking to you for money. With a commonsense approach, McKinley takes the reader from the birth of a child into adulthood and
- Guides parents through market swings
- Shows parents and grandparents how to cut their tax bills as they grow their family net worth
- Recommends "catch-up" tips to parents who haven't started saving yet
- Shows you where to find money to save
Whether you earn six dollars an hour or six figures a year, Make Your Kid a Millionaire helps your kids acquire everything that more money can provide: Time. Knowledge. Security. Stability. And it will grant you the peace of mind that comes with supplying your children with a financial head start.
Customer Reviews:
The basics made easy.......2007-09-25
I bought the book because the title caught my eye and as a parent of a young child all the information I can gather to assist her in having a head start in life financially is worth investing $13 in a book.
I consider myself an advanced investor and was lucky to have had my parents insist that I begin investing towards retirement as soon as I started working as a teen. Therefore, I have the practical experience in the power of compound interest at work and this book provided additional reinforcement on the theory of starting your investment career as young as possible.
In my opinion every grandparent should give this book as a gift to a new parent because it hammers home the need to start when your children are young. It's written in simple enough English that everyone can follow along.
What I found useful is the advice it provides parents on how to handle money issues for teens and young adults touching upon trusts, etc.
Buy it.....your $13 investment will be rewarded hundreds of times over.
Good primer.......2007-01-29
This book is a good primer for anyone who feels they are a beginner when it comes to personal finance. However, even though I have been around the block a time or two with this particular subject, I still found some things that were new to me (for instance...how to tell let the grandparents know where to send money without coming across as a money-grubber). For the price, I would recommend it to anyone.
This book is written in a conversational style and is extremely easy to read. I would caution that some of the suggestions appear easier than they actually are. For instance, it is theoretically possible to make someone a millionaire by saving tiny amounts of money for 50 years, but I challenge you to find a blue collar employee who is currently saving for their CHILD'S retirement. I also believe that some of the recommendations may not serve in the best interest of your children (i.e. can you trust them to be self-sufficient and motivated when you provide for every single financial need over the entire course of their lives?) Nonetheless, 90% of the ideas are sound and should be read by anyone with beginner's questions.
good organizational choices.......2006-06-28
Very helpful to have the sections broken down into the child's age grades, rather than only by investment vehicle. And the advice on protecting oneself from the child, as well as the child from themselves, is something you don't often see. It may seem cynical, but this is really a necessary discussion to have, even if internally.
My primary criticism is that he fails to adequately address the economic context of his investment portfolios. It would really be helpful to at least mention, for example, that bonds do better in environment type A, but not so well in B, then offer a suggested list of resources for further study. If, as the book seems to assume, these are parents not scared off by investing their own money, they will likely want to do some more research before settling on allocation.
Fun, Informative, and Educational for the Whole Family.......2006-06-01
Mr. McKinley writes in a clear, concise, and interesting manner and gives helpful advice for all parents in how to best plan their children's financial future. I have recommended this book to many of my friends who are parents of newborns, and they love it!
I LOVE this book!.......2005-10-27
I think this ought to be given to all expectant parents! This book helps us "average earners" achieve the peace of mind that comes from knowing we have secured the best possible financial future for our children. I feel so much more confident knowing that my small monetary contributions can in time build my son a wonderful little fortune. BRAVO! I can't say enough good things about this book!

Natural rights pre-empt man made rights.......2004-08-29
The attempt to interfere with women's natural and biological right to perform the function for which they alone are capable, the ability to bear children, must be the ultimate male misogynistic insult. Making child birth a hardship by failure to support the programs that honor this unique female capability is the equivalent to exclude females from society, and make them irrelevant to survival of human culture. Forcing them to choose work over the poverty of having children and putting children at risk is a total conversion of the natural order of the universe. Preventing them from caring for the children they make and to insure the safety of the children they have is dangerous to both, and favors the imperialistic pursuit of profits over the validation of mankind. Accepting a 50% divorce rate putting women in poverty, and accepting gay marriage threatens to turn mankind into an exercise of convenience and comfortable lifestyle rather than dignify the principles of creation by honoring the natural right of females to sexuality, to prevention, and to pregnancy as their biological right by virtue of their biological makeup. Ignoring that choice, women have been made little more than pawns in the industrial machine through which men justify the pursuit of profits to the exclusion of all else, and not intended to become the foundation of family formation and sustainability. When women are urged to find comfort in female companionship rather than male companionshp, the basic Godly contract of natural creation has been altered. Preventing women from sustainable work that puts them and their children at risk ignores the basic right of all human beings basic survival rights, and part of the larger scheme of ignoring those rights in favor of imperialistic schemes.
The Best Source on Women's Rights in the USA!.......2002-06-13
This is one of the best books on women in politics that I have ever read. It's an excellent source and gets right to the point.

Book Description
OECD countries have started to reform their agricultural policies in the last decade. Many countries have also implemented agri-environmental measures that are directly aimed at improving the environment. What are the changes in land use, farming practices and input use resulting from these reforms? What have been the effects on the environment: soils, water, air, biodiversity, wildlife habitat and landscape? How have regional and local conditions influenced the environmental outcomes? To what extent have agri-environmental measures contributed to achieving sustainable agriculture? And how could such measures be made more effective and cost-efficient? Through examining concrete policy experiences from OECD countries, this study concludes that agricultural policy reforms can improve the environment, provided they are accompanied by appropriate environmental measures.

Book Description
This book examines the motivation for electron scattering and develops the theoretical analysis of the process. It discusses our current theoretical understanding of the underlying structure of nuclei and nucleons at appropriate levels of resolution and sophistication, and summarizes present experimental electron scattering capabilities. Only a working knowledge of quantum mechanics and special relativity is assumed, making this a suitable textbook for graduate and advanced undergraduate courses.
Download Description
The scattering of high-energy electrons from nuclear and nucleon targets provides a microscope for examining the structure of these tiny objects. The best evidence we have on what nuclei and nucleons actually look like comes from electron scattering. It will also provide a valuable summary and reference for researchers already working in electron scattering and other areas of nuclear/particle physics.

Book Description
This is the first book on the general history of U.S. sociological research methods. It provides systematic archival, documentary and interview data that question conventional views, showing that the extensive work done on sociological theory gives only a partial picture of the history of sociology. Research practice is affected by many other factors. This detailed study develops our understanding both of the history of social thought, and the settings in which social research is produced, raising wider issues of method in the history of ideas.

Description:
This paper presents the results of glaze-paint and slip analysis of 161 White Mountain Red Ware ceramic samples (AD 1275-1325) from east-central Arizona. Time of flight-laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (TOF-LA-ICP-MS) analysis is used (1) to establish viability of the technique for measuring chemical compositions of glazes and slips, and (2) to establish a methodology for inferring this structured variability, specifically delineating the presence of specific pigment mixtures or ''recipes'' used by prehistoric potters in the Greater Southwest. These data bear on archaeological questions about craft production, exchange, technology, and social organization.

Book Description
As the pace of human development accelerated and centers of civilization developed in the most fertile and cultivable areas of the world, wildernesses were regarded as unproductive and wasteful: forests had to be cleared, grasslands plowed, and wetlands drained to accommodate the world's
growing populations. Even after the cataclysmic changes of the Industrial Revolution, there still appeared to be plenty of wilderness left to be plundered for its wealth of natural resources. As the scale of global environmental destruction has magnified, it has become increasing clear that the
world's wildernesses must be preserved. This study reviews the distribution of the last natural refuges around the world and explains why they are vital for the health of our planet. It traces the process of global destruction from early historic times through its mass acceleration since World War
II, and evaluates the steps that have been, and are being taken, to conserve and protect the world's fragile ecosystems. Lavishly illustrated with over 200 full-color illustrations, Nature's Last Strongholds is an important reminder of the ephemerality of the Earth's beauty.
