I have listened to this book several times. Zig Ziglar is just wonderful teacher. This is a short book for all intents and purpose but it will give you a solid starting point for why we need goals and how to get going with them.

This is truly an excellent audio which has been worth many times its price to me. I have listened to it literally hundreds if not thousands of times over the last twenty years and it has helped me in my life to be successful in a variety of positions, through career transitions, etc.

In this tape, Zig Ziglar uses stories, reasearch nuggets and powerful metaphors to drive home his points in an extremely powerful way. He is very present when he speaks and the tape is not only informative, it is funny and entertaining.

This is a perfect tape to listen to over and over again while you are commuting. This is how I used it for many years. As a personal growth coach who does a large amount of public speaking, workshops and one-on-one coaching -- I feel I am in a good position to judge the merit of what is out there.

Zig is a Christian and this might not go over well with some audiences. However, he doesn't push this agenda, but he does at different points use some illustrations that come from the bible. For example, in one section he quotes the bible about money saying, "he who seeks silver, will never be satisfied with silver" and goes on to explain how you can never have enough money, UNLESS the money has you. I think that's a very wise statement and it's not money itself that is bad, but how you use it. The point he seems to be making is that are you a good steward of your money, which I think it a relevant point that requires guts to make in the current business environment. In fact, I would suggest it's an essential point.

Cognitively, I probably knew most of what was in this audio. However, I know it differently now at a deeper level because of using it. This tape is done in such a way that the ideas sink in deeply and become a part of you. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Also, in addition to working in psychology, I was also a marketing person for Xerox when they were Fortune 25. I went through their International Center for Management Development and won their Team Xerox Spirt Award. The point of me sharing this is that I know what it takes to train sales and marketing people and I recognize a good and practical resource when I come across it. I don't think you can go wrong with this audio, especially at the price they are offering it at.

Great for First Time Ziggers - Not good if you have other Zig.......2006-11-06

I have purchased other Zig tapes and really enjoy them. I thought this was going to be something new. It's not. It is the same stories all over again. I also do not recommend the CD if you are going to be using it as a car audio. CDs can't just stop, be ejected so you can listen to something else, and put back in like a tape can.

Got this to supplement pilot training on GPS. Provides lots of information not found in "basic" GPS books without all of the techno-bable (well there is a little, but not too much).

Great Book, Keep your computer with you!.......2003-12-02

The book's content is excellent! I have found it to be very useful for quickly getting up to speed on the topic. The book is sectioned into logical parts and does a great job providing reference material to allow anyone to become familiar with the GPS in a short period of time.

I would however caution anyone atracted to the e-book version of this book. The PDF file is locked and cannot be printed, saved or otherwise converted to a "portable" format. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR COMPUTER WITH YOU TO READ THIS BOOK. Note, one cannot even use Adobe's "cripple" Palm reader to read this e-book.

NO returns on e-book so buy the hardcover version.

GPS text book without any equation.......2002-07-24

1- The first thing is that you can read the book from the beginning to the last page without any difficlties.
2- There is no equations in the book. Equations sometimes let books boring.
3- You can gain more information about GPS from this book.
4- Figures are very clear.

GREAT BASIC REFERENCE.......2002-05-09

If you are a geodesy expert looking for a mathematical treatment of GPS theory, look elsewhere (there are several good books). If you are looking for a good collegiate-level descriptive text, this is a great choice. Clear, concise, and with all the latest info including WAAS, RTK, and similar topics. Reviewed for content by Dr. Dave Wells and written by an expert in the field, this is a super reference.

Best organization of all introductory GIS texts.......1999-04-22

This book has the best organization of all the GIS texts I've read. Other texts have either too little or too much on some topics (especially GIS project management and GIS analysis). This one has an excellent balance. A little more on data sources would have been nice. The British authors use a few terms American students won't recognize, but it reads very well. I'm recommending it right now over other overviews of GIS.

This book introduces the basic principles of GIS from the perspective of a new user. Topics are covered with enough depth so that the book will also be beneficial to longer-term users. The writing style, graphics and case studies are presented in a simple and easy to read format. The book could be used as a text for a course or read by anyone interested in learning the fundamentals behind GIS technology. There is also a web site for the book that will allow readers access to current trends in GIS and URLs for case studies.

A refreshing book.......2000-06-16

This book provides a pleasant alternative to the more classical books by Edmonds, Brink and Satchler or Rose: it's much more fun! The large number of illustrations (127) helps the reader to grasp some fundamental aspects of angular momentum. All the basics of this subject are covered. The reading is facilitated by the fact that many proofs are left as exercices (and can be found in more classical treatments of the subject). For those who have Mathematica at their disposal, the programs that are included in the book can fruitfully by used for further exploration of the properties of angular momentum.

As indicated by the title, this event caused quite a sensation. The Gardiner family had moved from Seneca, New York, to the lovely little settlement of Spirit Lake on the Iowa frontier. Local Indians, apparently feeling deprived of provisions, descended upton the settlement, killing the men and children, and capturing fourteen-year-old Abigail and three other women. She endured a terrifying ordeal of brutality and hardship on her six-week journey to the Sioux village where she was sold to another tribe, who in turn took her to Minnesota for ransom. Lorenzo Porter Lee had just arrived in St. Paul at the time fourteen-year-old Abbie Gardiner was delivered by the Indians to Governor Samuel Medary of the Territory of Minnesota. Colonel Lee was commissioned by Governor Medary to accompany Abbie to Fort Dodge with the hope of finding her sister, Eliza. It was while he was with Abbie on this trip that Colonel Lee learned and set down many of the lurid details she related to him. A classic captivity account.

A Must Read for American Historians.......2004-03-07

I don't know how much professional historical training Tom Lewis has had, but, he has written one of the most interesting works of Colonial American histography that I have ever come across in "West from Shenandoah".

The beauty of "West from Shenandoah" is that it is part histography and part personal journal.

One of the most interesting aspects is early in the book when Lewis raises the possibility of genetic memory in a very deft way, so as not to come off as kookie, or trite as in the sense of deja vu.

I do have some very minor quibbles with Thomas Lewis, but, they have to do with my viewpoint as a Pennsylvania Dutchman.

For example, a few years ago, I was standing on an overlook in the Blue Ridge above the Shenandoah Valley, when I was approached by another Dutchman. This gentleman says to me, pointing down into the valley, that's my farm down there, and in my 64 years, I've never been up here before.

Lewis does characterize the "Dutch" as Lutheran, which he would have a tough time proving, because there were no Luthern churches that I know of on the Virginia frontier which would have included modern West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. The "Dutch" mostly subscribed to that odd blend of Calvinism & pietism that we today know as Methodists or Presbyterians.

In the final chapter of the Journal Lewis names some folks of Scotch-Irish ancestry---I'm sure this was a little add on suggested by his publisher for the Scotch-Irish audience. It probably can't help commercial sales, but, it does detract from the histography.

There are treatments of a number of equations of classical continuum mechanics, including relativistic versions. There are also treatments of various equations arising in differential geometry, such as in the study of minimal surfaces, isometric imbedding, conformal deformation, harmonic maps, and prescribed Gauss curvature. In addition, some nonlinear diffusion problems are studied. Analytical tools introduced in this volume include the theory of L^p Sobolev spaces, H lder spaces, Hardy spaces, and Morrey spaces, and also a development of Calderon-Zygmund theory and paradifferential operator calculus. Difficult topics treated in a comprehensive manner........2000-05-10

One of the most important and subtle features of mathematics is the great difference existing between linearity and non-linearity. One always tries to linearize whenever possible, because linear problems are easier to solve, but unfortunately the world is not linear, and we have to learn how to deal with non-linear problems.

This volume discusses thoroughly some very important cases of non-linear PDE's which are important in mathematical physics or that possess intrinsic theoretical interest.

The contents are: Function space and operator theory for nonlinear analysis; nonlinear elliptic equations; nonlinear parabolic equations; nonlinear hyperbolic equations; Euler and Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible fluids; Einstein's equations.

A little bit more advanced and speciallized than the other two volumes, but still useful for a broad community. A graduate student with a solid background will find it perfectly acquaintable. Includes lots of excercises and references.
