Get Organized Quick!.......2002-05-14
Shaved work time from my daily work schedule instantly. The principles discussed here are simple and easy to understand/follow. A must have for anyone who needs a little (or a lot) of help with daily paper organization.

Might be useful to some.......2001-06-02
It's such a great-looking book and so well laid out, I wanted to like it but frankly this book never went beyond the obvious. It stays with the basic concepts of organization in a way that is on the level of organizing a locker in Junior High, which puzzled me. The only person I can imagine needing this book would be someone who never had to organize anything before. Perhaps a filing clerk just out of high school?
Taming The Paper Tiger.......2000-09-04
Each of us have 24 hours a day, how we choose to use them is another subject. One that this book has help to address. Taming the paper tiger addresses the life long struggle that most of us faces. Every thing from advertisments to zoo schedules. You are running out of time - start taming your tiger.

Not very good.......2007-02-13
This books try to give a simple review of the statistical technics for operational risk, but it is not so clear, not so well explained and not so complete. Sometimes I found mismatch in formulas with the current literature. Six pages for EVT is a poor way to introduce such an important field in OR modelling, and there is nothing about copula approach for modelling dependence in OR. Conversely, this book is good in explaining regression applied to OR management, and somebody can find the CD very interesting for data application.
It's about Excel statistical functions with examples using operational risk data.......2007-01-18
Remember in school when you had to solve math problems about how long it would take John to drive the 200 miles from New York to Washington if he drove at 50 miles an hour and took a one hour break for lunch? Or how long would it take John to meet Julie who was driving at 45 miles per hour from Washington to New York?
Now, would it make sense to call a book of these problems "Learning to Drive By Using Math"? That's the feeling I got when I closed Operational Risk With Excel and VBA. It's actually a good overview of many of Excel's statistical functions and it presents these in an operational risk context. However, it overemphasizes the technical and quantitative aspects of the field.
The Basel committee defines operational risk as "the risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, and systems or from external events". Of course the quantitative aspects are important, but operational risk is much more about analyzing processes and managing people and Lewis's book is weak on that aspect. To be fair the title is quite clear: the book is about applied statistical methods, not about people management.

The book is a bad resume of statistics, full of mistakes. I've a long list of mistakes if required. You'll never learn operational risk with this one.

Unspeakable Truths: Facing the Challenges of Truth Commissions
ASIN: 0745628362 |
Book Description
Today 's wars leave a crippling legacy of deprivation and suffering, of physical and structural injustice, long after they submit to peaceful resolution. Survivors of war must find ways to live with the stultifying injustices littering their past and haunting their present - acts of discrimination and violence committed before, during and even after conflict.Confronting the vexed challenge of re-marrying peace with justice out of the morass of war 's injustices is the complex but imperative task facing post-conflict societies and the international community today.Using current examples from conflicts around the world, ranging from Africa and Asia to Latin America and Eastern Europe, it argues for a holistic and integrated approach to justice after conflict. It proposes that we must address all three dimensions of injustice embedded in conflict - symptom, consequence and cause, and that subsequently we must rebuild all three dimensions of justice - legal, rectificatory and distributive, in the aftermath. This timely book explores the difficulties and dilemmas confronted on the ground in restoring these, and concludes with pragmatic recommendations for dealing with such challenges of rebuilding peace with justice after contemporary conflicts. This well-argued book will prove a valuable resource for students and professionals in the fields of peacebuilding, justice theory, international relations and politics.

Book Description
During the past five years, the PETRRA (Poverty Elimination Through Rice Research Assistance) project has explored the development of innovative extension mechanisms through a learning-by-doing process with multiple service providers. Partnerships linked government, non-government and private
sectors as appropriate. Topics addressed by the project include seed production and distribution systems, crop and soil fertility management, postharvest technologies, mobile pumps, aromatic rice and integrated rick-duck farming. The methods used include women-led group extension, whole family
approach, participatory video, Going Public and picture songs. This book examines these approaches to extension and assesses their potential for replicability and scaling-up. It includes four thematic sections with people-centered case studies and a conclusion with practical applications of the
transaction cost theory. This highly original volume will appeal to a wide range of readers concerned with agricultural extension and rural development.

* Provides instructive end-of-chapter exercises and appendices
Customer Reviews:
Hooray for Hartmann!.......2004-05-20
Simply put, this is the only assigned text I kept from my college years. It's compact size and overall readability are excellent. Although intended for advanced undergrads and beginning graduate students, it's still a great reference for multi-disciplinary scientists, basic global circulation modellers, researchers, and professors. The appendices are particularly noteworhty, especially the list of English and Greek symbols commonly used in just about all the physical sciences, and the derivation of SI Units. If anything, the book is pricey (as all in the International Geophysics Series are), but this one is worth it.
The standard of comparison for global systems science........1999-10-03
This is the most thorough, most rigorous, well-written textbook in global systems climatology that I've seen. If you're bright, interested, and aren't allergic to equations (you don't need to read them to understand the book, you just have to not freak out) then this text will teach you more about the planet as a dynamic system than any other that I've seen -- plus, unlike most texbooks, it's not chuck full of stupid mistakes. I've used it in my upper division climatology class since it came out.

Book Description
The increasing power of computer resources along with great improvements in observational data in recent years have led to some remarkable and rapid advances in astrophysical fluid dynamics. The subject spans three distinct but overlapping communities whose interests focus on (1) accretion discs and high-energy astrophysics; (2) solar, stellar, and galactic magnetic fields; and (3) the geodynamo, planetary magnetic fields, and associated experiments. This book grew out of a special conference sponsored by the London Mathematical Society with the support of EPSRC that brought together leading researchers in all of these areas to exchange ideas and review the status of the field. The many interesting problems addressed in this volume concern:

Book Description
Although the origin of Earth's and other celestial bodies' magnetic fields remains unknown, we do know that the motion of electrically conducting fluids generates and maintains these fields, forming the basis of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and, to a larger extent, dynamo theory. Answering the need for a comprehensive, interdisciplinary introduction to this area, Mathematical Aspects of Natural Dynamos provides a foundation in dynamo theory before moving on to modeling aspects of natural dynamos. Bringing together eminent international contributors, the book first introduces governing equations, outlines the kinematic dynamo theory, covers nonlinear effects, including amplitude saturation and polarity reversals, and discusses fluid dynamics. After establishing this base, the book describes the Earth's magnetic field and the current understanding of its characteristics. Subsequent chapters examine other planets in our solar system and the magnetic field of stars, including the sun. The book also addresses dynamo action on the large scale of galaxies, presents modeling experiments of natural dynamos, and speculates about future research directions. After reading this well-illustrated, thorough, and unified exploration, you will be well prepared to embark on your own journey through this fascinating area of research.

Feeling Is the Secret 1944 by Neville.
Customer Reviews:
Feeling is the Secret 1944.......2007-09-09
If you enjoyed "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne "Feeling Is the Secret" is a must read. A little book with valuable information which teaches you how your subconsciou helps you achieve your goals in life.
Feeling Is The Secret 1944.......2007-05-13
This is an interesting book, demonstrating that these thoughts about our abillity as co-creators have been with us for a long time.
The Secret explained by Neville.......2007-04-15
This could be considered the "poster child" for books that supply you with the minimally required essentials, leaving out absolutely everything else.
It's all about the omnipotent Force behind *Feeling* (which was repeated over and over in the movie, The Secret)
This slim work of Truth and Wisdom, in a Power-packed pamphlet of a book, gives the gift of the profound Truth behind how your External circumstances are created.
[The book's main points:]
- How the Subconscious only accepts what is impressed upon it with Feeling.
( some other books on this topic don't mention subconscious, but indirectly states that Feeling manifests what is "felt about")
- The importance - and Power - behind the practice of falling asleep while dwelling, with Feeling, upon your desired objectives as you fall into slumber
( Page 34: "This is the way to discover and conduct your wishes into the subconscious.
Feel yourself in the state of the realized wish and quietly drop off to sleep." )
- If it's challenging, during everyday life, to live "from a mood/feeling" state that your desires are already fulfilled, then Neville advises to use the power of prayer and/or sleep, so as to leverage the powerful receptiveness of your consciousness when your conscious mind is relaxed, so that your subconscious is more easily impressed with the new Feeling-backed belief)
Neville is the writer that started me off originally with these teachings of how to Consciously create. I wasn't used to his usage of Bible scriptures, because I wasn't very religious, and still am not.
However oddly enough, his mastery of the symbolism of the various tales and verses in the Bible and how they, in disguised form, unfold 'the Secret' of the Kingdom that is within us, and has been there the whole time, is what sold me on his works.
Though I have this particular slim book by publisher Kessinger, I actually first read "Feeling Is The Secret", while reading Resurrection, which contains F.I.T.S. as one of it's mini-books.
Your Options, if interested:
1. Go the full measure and get this one as well as other excellent minibooks, contained in Resurrection
2. Or The Neville Reader, which also contains this mini-book and most of what's contained in Resurrection,
(since Resurrection is unavailable much of the time)
3. Just purchase this slim volume on its own (see picture of the book's spine for some perspective). I enjoy having it sitting around, with this bright yellow cover and the very blunt reminder as the title.
