This book is really easy to read. I finished it in one night. Great for those people looking to learn more about process mapping and process improvement. He makes it seem so simple, you'll be amazed you didn't think of reengineering before. Doesnot focus too much on how to choose the right process but if you already know what you want to improve this is a great "how to" book.

Not a good choice........2006-03-25

While the description sounds intersting, the book turns out to be a horrible read. Not only do most sections read like a rough set of lecture notes, they are also quite often poorly structured. Most importantly, the authors seem to be confused about simple concepts from mathematics and probability (like differentiability of functions and properties of expectations of random variables).

Is this book a practical joke?.......2006-12-03

This may be the most unnecessary book ever published. Written by a philosopher-turned-lawyer, it analyzes selected basic concepts from antitrust law (such as the concept of "agreement"). It's hard to imagine anyone who would read it. Antitrust lawyers will find no value in the tedious linguistic analysis, philosophers will be bored by the subject matter, and everyone else (except university libraries) will be turned off by the high price. I would recommend it only as a negative example of the trivial titles cranked out by too many university presses.

needs more "revisions".......2006-01-23

prior to reading this book, i had already taken a more difficult , engineering-oriented Digital Signal Processing class (groundwork for Geophysics) so I had a good background it in.

this book attempts to dummy down DSP concepts for the laymen (or layscientists) but fails in doing so. half of the ideas are well articulated, but the other-half are written poorly (confusingly or expounded insufficiently) or are illustrated poorly.

i imagined that if i had no background in dsp or engineering--the target of this book--i would have found it very frustrating.

since this is a textbook, most of the readers will have no choice in book selection, anyways, so tough luck :)

Skeeter Skelton was a Marine, Amarillo, Texas, police officer, U. S. Border Patrolman, Sheriff of Deaf Smith County, Texas, U.S. Customs investigator, U.S. DEA officer, and most of all, a prolific writer of firearms related stories. His writing's during his lifetime, were not just about firearms, a sometimes dry subject, when presented in technical terms alone, but included the more interesting "person" factor which set him apart from other writers. Drawing upon his backgound in Law Enforcement he was able to inform, entertain, and educate his readers in a style which was serious, humerous, and personable. Skeeters' fiction stories are included in this book as well as non-fiction material on real life characters from the Old West. If you are interested in people, firearms, and like to be entertained as well as informed, then read this book.

The Medici State and the Ghetto of Florence is a work about Italian Jews, Christians, and the institutions and policies that organized their relationship. It sets the 1570 decision of the Medici government to ghettoize the Jews of Tuscany in the context of early modern statecraft and in the climate of the Catholic (or Counter-) Reformation. While readers have had access to studies of the ghettos of Rome and Venice, this is the first study of the Jews of Tuscany available in English, and the first and only study of the Florentine ghetto based on sustained archival research.
