Nice Guide for Beginners.......2007-06-16

The author writes a nice overview of the entrepreneurial process. It's basically for novices but it does a good job for this audience. The only problem I have with this book is that it is too basic and is therefore non-unique because it is so low-level. Regardless, I must say that for the right audience, it does a fine job over giving the big picture.

If you are advanced or aspire to become advanced, I would recommend "The Startup Company Bible for Entrepreneurs" but only for high-tech entrepreneurs. Even this author has recommended it.

This is a delightful little book that contains a wealth of useful and helpful information and ideas on starting a small business and ensuring that it is viable and succesful. The book is well written and easy to follow and interesting to read.

This is a must read for entrepreneurs, particularly budding ones as the information the book provides is very practical and can help you avoid making costly errors. The book covers a wide range of topics including the start-up process, marketing the business on a small budget, cash-flow forecasting, among other things.

The book is an excellent companion for the entrepreneur that is well worth having.

This book does a terrific job of presenting some of the most important issues entrepreneurs face when embarking on new ventures, touching on topics such as the business plan, funding, team building, and cash flows. Using simple, yet stunningly accurate models of the entrepreneurial process, Steven Gold distills complex subjects into simple, practical, take-away messages. The classification of entrepreneurial personalities (professionals, pragmatists, and inventors) is something I think we can all relate to. I find the metaphor which compares building a new company to making "stone soup" equally compelling. There are countless books out there for budding entrepreneurs, but this one is no fluff. It gets right down to the nuts and bolts so you can concentrate on your business.

Dr Riccardo Rebonato is Director and Head of Research at Barclays Capital. He is responsible for the modelling, trading and risk management of the European exotic interest-rate products. He holds Doctorates in Nuclear Engineering and Science of Materials/Solid State Physics. Before moving into investment banking he was Research Fellow in Physics at Corpus Christi College (Oxford). He has published papers in several academic journals in finance, and is a regular speaker at conferences worldwide.

Good but a little bit superficial.......2007-09-18

This is an excellent reference guide to interest rate option models, I used it extensively with Implementing Derivative Models (Wiley Series in Financial Engineering)while I was writing my masters thesis. Although it is a good reference, it lacks deep demonstration of how the equations are derived, throwing a lot of them assuming that the reader is an expert on the field. So in some models the book tends to be too superficial, but as I said it is an excellent reference of IR Option Models.

It's a recommended reading for our finance/numerical mth course. I have not got a chance to read through the whole book, but looks to be a good starting point for the subject matter.

The book places more emphasis on an intuitive grasp of the complex mathematics involved, though this must mean giving up rigour to an extent.

Most comprehensive book wirtten on this topic.......2001-11-06

It is really a pleasure to read this book. While covering the most important topics it remains focused on the essentials. Whenever you have to deal with a concept in the literature about fixed income instruments you are not aware off Rebonato is always a good reference to start with, similar to Hull's or Wilmott's book.

Rebonato addresses consequently practical implementation issues (although not coevering the technical details of the implementation algorithms - read the original papers for that!) that are frequently missing in so many academic publications. This makes it to one of my favorit books on my book shelf. I am looking forward to his next book on intrest rate derivatives.

Good on Several Levels.......2001-07-11

Rebonato covers the material on different levels, providing not only full mathematical formulations, but also the English version of the math along with explanations of significance of the topics covered. This book is excellent for those with the mathematical background to understand the math, and is easy to follow for those with less than rigorous mathematical background. I would recommend a good foundation in general option pricing (at least an introduction to Black-Scholes and lattice modeling) prior to reading this book. Futures, Options, and Swaps by Kolb and Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives by Hull would be good preliminary readings. Rebonato does a good job in discussing the various modeling techniques, along with the strengths and weaknesses of each.

Most law and development books focus on "what went wrong". Eyes on the Prize is an exception: it focuses on "what went right" in Singapore's transformation from squalid colony to successful growth-oriented, capitalist state. It questions the efficacy and nature of the role of law in the forty-year transformation, in the light of traditional and neo-traditional theories of law and development. It has not been the "rule of law" as such that has contributed to Singapore's development. Rather it has been law as the embodiment of "mature policy" of a goal-oriented, politically stable, educated, largely non-corrupt, communitarian and authoritarian state bureaucracy, which was grafted onto the remnants of the previous colonial administrative structures. Dr Carter examines Singapore's economic development in relation to labour law, land law, and intellectual property law, testing these against key aspects of law and development theories. While analyses of the former challenge the law and development convergence theory, that of intellectual property law uncovers the transforming impact of global influences such as the WTO. As such, the book provides a novel and balanced account for the student of law and economic development.

It wrenches our hearts, then sends our hopes for these neighbors soaring. Perhaps because of this book there will be other Randys and Tinas and Josephs and Jamesons who are willing to journey to the center of the city and love their neighbors.

Excellent Book..!!! Highly Innovative..!!!.......2001-02-21

This is an excellent book both for a teacher as well as the student. It extensively uses modern technology for explaining the complex phenomena in Physics.

The Authers have called it Physlets i.e. Physics Applets.

The applets presented are highly interactive, and allow the student to interact and fully understand the behaviour changes by changing various parameters.

It gives an excellent grasp of the topic under discussion and also gives a sound understanding of the concepts using visual medium.

The authers need to be congratulated for their highly innovative and pioneering work simplifying the pedegogy of learning/teaching physics.

Large number of illustrative examples. The reader can develop his/her own Physlets.

Highly recommended.
