I think the content of the book is absolute Business 101 information, anyone who dares to say he is a businessman(or woman) should know.

Informative, easy written, simple and easy to understand style.
Information even if aged still remains valuable, the book is available free online, however I passed by a cool version that comes as a bonus in a Great Package, a guy saying he is the Marketing Wizkid is offering on www.moneygoldenrules.com

Read a great review of this in the Financial Executives International magazine. However, I found the book too general. Lots of platitudes and obvious, ivory tower statements. Not a whole lot you could actually apply to your compliance efforts.

"Profitable Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance" is well written and easy to read. Northrup quickly demonstrates an extrordinary grasp of his topic. He carefully uses his knowledge of process-improvement methodologies to guide his readers to achieve SOX compliance economically and painlessly. He also shows how organizations can leverage the COSO framework for improved enterprise risk management and create a culture of continuous process improvement. I have already put some of his ideas to work and have realized measurable gains for several of my clients.

Metamorphic rocks make up the largest volume of the Earth. They systematically change their mineralogical composition as a result of tecto-thermal events. The outstanding feature of the 7th edition of this book is the large number of phase diagrams showing the stability relations among minerals and groups of minerals found in metamorphic rocks. The diagrams help to determine the pressure and temperature conditions under which a given collected set of metamorphic rocks may have formed. More than half of the chapters have been completely rewritten or revised. All figures have been edited and improved and recent advances in the field such as multiequilibria thermobarometry and pseudosections were incorporated in the text. The bibliography has been revised and extended, new research publications have also been included. Petrogenesis of metamorphic rocks is probable the best textbook available for students of metamorphic petrology. In a short, concise form it introduces the reader to the principles of metamorphic petrology as well as to the evolution of different rock types under changing metamorphic conditions.

Excellent source for anyone studying metamorphic rocks........1999-06-02

This book is divided into two sections. The first section deals with the basic princiles of metamorphism, including composition of source rocks, types, processes and condidtions of metamorphism. A very detailed description on the construction of metamorphic projections is also included. Part two covers the metamorphism of different rock compositions including ultramafic, mafic, carbonate, pelitic, and granitoid rocks. This section is very detailed, without bogging down with specific examples of metamorphism.

Most textbooks in igneous petrology have intended to avoid discussion of potentially controversial petrogenetic models. However, this is precisely the sort of information senior students of igneous petrology require. Dr Wilson has drawn on 15 years of research and 10 years of teaching experience in writing an account of what is now a well established understanding of the processes involved in environments of magma generation. She provides full discussions of the major-element, trace-element, and radiogenic isotope characteristics of magmas generated in different tectonic settings and she deals with the information derived from such data concerning magma source regions and their ascent trough the Earth's lithosphere. Additionally each chapter contains a summary of geophysical data relating to crustal and mantle structure and the location of magma reservoirs.
The modular format of the book will facilitate its use by all students, researchers and professionals with an interest in igneous petrology. A basic knowledge of geochemistry, mineralogy, phase diagrams, regional geology and global tectonics is assumed, but such advanced topics as trace element and isotope geochemistry can be omitted initially if the reader's background is inappropriate. The text is profusely illustrated and the bibliography contains over 1000 carefully selected references.

Marge Wilson graduated in geology at the University of Oxford. She then spent a year at the University of California, Berkeley, and subsequently studied the petrogenesis of nepheline syenites from the Gardar province of Greenland, leading to a PhD from the University of Leeds. Her research has focused on island-arc, oceanic-island and intra-continental plate tectonic settings.

I took Marge's class at Leeds and had to use her book a couple times there, but it was only recently that I read most of it all the way through. It is helping so much in my thesis work and research; I strongly recommend the book for anyone doing any sort of igneous geochem!
