If you can commit to setting aside 15 min three times a week to begin
securing your financial future, pick up this practical, simple workbook inspired by God's words and refined in the fires of Carolyn
Castleberry's own 'school-of-hard-knocks' experience.

Avoid joining the "women 35-55, 1/3 to 2/3 of whom will be impoverished by age 70. Note women live 7 years longer than men," so we need to be involved. However, Carolyn offers hope and direction by encouraging us to "take time to carefully learn and consider our ever-growing number of financial options." She admits stumbling through trial and error, even though the author was a business major in college and a nationally-known news reporter.

Carolyn Castleberry draws MUCH from scripture, personalizing the
Proverbs 31 woman by naming her Proven. She talks us through fear,
offering peace of mind by asking God's guidance. There is room to write our action plans as we read and grow in knowledge to "create, consider & invest."

The author urges us to question those asking for OUR money and shares
simplified worksheets for budgeting and getting out of debt. Her
definitions and explanations for Winning the Credit Game, Real Estate,

Refreshing! Practical! .......2006-07-14

I just graduated from graduate school and I was looking for some help with managing debt...basically grabbing a hold of my finances in a way THAT WORKED. Obviously, there are thousands of books out there that advise on debt, finances, credit, etc., but when I came across this one - something was different. This book is practical and it makes sense. I felt as if I were having a conversation with the author. Really!

Simply the Best in its League.......2007-05-23

I have been looking for a book like "Analysis, Manifolds and Physics: Part I" for a long time. It combines all the features I think a book for physicist interested in mathematics (or vice versa) should have. It is very clearly written, it gives precise definitions, it states the important results and it omits the proofs.

It consists of eight parts: 1. review of fundamental notions of analysis, 2. differential calculus on Banach spaces, 3. differentiable manifolds, finite dimensional case, 4. integration on manifolds, 5. Riemannian manifolds, Kählerian manifolds, 6. connections on a principle fibre bundle, 7. distributions and 8. differentiable manifolds, infinite dimensional case.

The selection of topics and the way they are structured speaks for itself.

I really like this book. It contains all I want and have to learn about mathematics.

an inspiration.......2002-03-10

This is the book that inspired me as an undergraduate to learn and appreciate, to a large extent, how physics and mathematics cohabit so beautifully. I continue to see, to this day, as a graduate student, how many of the recent developments in theoretical physics have been inspired by new mathematics and conversely. I still refer to this book on occasion, since it is laid out in a style that is amenable to mathematicians (such as myself!). It's an excellent read, and I highly recommend it (even as bed time reading!) Best regards, A.

A must have desk reference and educational tool.......1999-09-29

This was the most reliable (and compact) source of mathematical information that I could find. I used it (almost exclusively) to teach myself what I needed to know to do my PhD thesis in General Relativity with Torsion fields. It is very overwhelming to look at the book the first time. But give it time. It is well written and inviting. The only draw back for me was the very small print.

A treasure for physicists.......1998-08-26

I use this book constantly. At first I thought it was good only as a reference, but now I know it is possible to actually LEARN any of its subjects from scratch. I particularly like its chapters on manifolds, Lie Groups and bundles. Connections on a principal bundle is extremely well done, with a translation to physics (gauge theories) performed in detail in an exercise (so to speak). Some time ago David Ruelle said that the physicists needed a presentation of recent mathematics in the form of Bourbaki's "Fascicule des resultats", a synthesis of the subject with complete definitions, examples and theorems clearly stated, but with the proofs ommited. This is it, except that in this book most demonstrations are not ommited, only those too complicated. The whole book is extremely readable, if you concentrate, turn out the TV, etc. A precious book.

THIS BOOK PROVIDES AN INTERESTING AND MORE BALANCED ACCOUNT OF THE RISE AND FALL OF THE AZTEC EMPIRE. MR.KOCH TAKES THE READER ON A JOURNEY THAT PROVIDES BETTER INSIGHT INTO THE MOTIVATIONS OF BOTH THE AZTECS AND THE SPANIARDS TO DOMINATE THE LANDS OF MEXICO.

Great story sloppily told.......2006-04-08

There is no denying that Peter O. Koch is a great storyteller. His newest historical novel is easy to read and offers interesting theories of the motives and actions of the main character of the tragic events in Mexico in the early 16th century. Despite the list of notes and consulted literature, it is certainly not a historical study. The author is shockingly inconsist in the spelling of names, not only Aztec names but Spanish ones as well (has the editor been asleep or what?) and his use of sources is dubious. He used William Prescott's more than 150 years old account of the conquest of Mexico as his most trusted source - as if historians have been in limbo for all these years. The second part of the title of his book is simply wrong, because it is not what the book is about. However, all these faults would be acceptable had the author gone through the trouble of studying the story more in depth. In particular his account of the amount of human sacrifices made by the Aztec is not based on facts and a repetition of a lie started by Cortes and his soldiers. If he would have read Peter Hassler's excellent study 'Menschenopfer bei den Azteken', he would probably have developed more sensitivity to the Aztec side of the story. What we are left with is a book that is entertaining but a mere repetition of many of the falsities that have been told in the last five centuries about the Aztecs as a bunch of murderers who seemed to have enjoyed ripping people's hearts out. The enormous atrocities of the Spaniards perpetrated during and after the conquest and the infectious diseases introduced to the continent have produced a number of casualties many thousandfolds higher. Maybe that is what Koch's next book should be about - just to restore the balance a bit.
