Best Book on the Scanlon Plan and Gainsharing.......2007-01-25

Dr.Frost is one of the greatest change agents and mentors of leaders.
This book is not easy to read, but it contains the ideas of one of the greatest change agents. While working with Dr. Frost Herman Miller, Donnelly, Motorola, and Beth Israel Hospital were all rated in the top 50 best places to work in America. I don't know of any other consultant or professor with this track record. He also had a hand in saving Harley Davidson, and Wolverine Worldwide. This book is a must for anyone interested in the Scanlon Plan for individual and organizational excellence.

For all people who want to inform themselves about socialism and communism in very abstract way. Personally I prefer to treat an issue in a realistic way, and I think the oppinions and feelings of the situations that Orwell describes would better be understood if he had used human characters.

I have had to read this book for the English class and I must say that it is not bad. For me it was not easy to understand and so I was tired to read it. But I think that it was a good choice to read this book in class because you can learn much about the Revolution in Russia but also a lot about tyranny.

A duty toward vegetariansm.......2000-03-31

I expected a more "animal rights" version of why we should all be vegetarians. In fact, this is a very balanced explanation of how we *used to* take better care of our farm animals == they were practically under the same roof as us; there was an unwritten contract between us and the animals, that if we took care of them, they would "take care of us." but now that "animal husbandry" has become "animal science" -- and animals are no longer under our roof, this "contract" is no longer a fair contract: there is benefit for only the human and not the animal.

Bernard Rollin gives both the meat eater and the vegetarian a lot to think about with this book. I highly recommend it for all.

This volume contains articles from the 20th Annual International Conference on Soils, Sediments and Water. Primarily a technical conference, each year the platform sessions, poster presentations, and workshops represent the leading edge in environmental science and technology. The meeting promotes a collaboarative approach between scientists, engineers, environmental consultants, industry, and regulators dealing with environmental contamination.

This yearly conference began 21 years ago to inform the environmental remediation efforts of the DEP and the EPA. What started as a group of Academics providing informal assistance to the EPA is now an international conference that presents current research with the support of a high level scientific advisory board. The conference follows trends and adapts the conference agenda accordingly. The largest ever attendance at the 2004 meeting was at nearly 1000 due to the caliber of the researchers and engineers presenting at the conference. Content is especially relevant to environmental remediation professionals for acquiring current knowledge and technologies that can be immediately applied in the field.

This book investigates the anomalous magnetic field of the ocean and its connection with geological structure, tectonic evolution of the oceanic lithosphere, and magnetic properties of different rock types in the oceanic crust. The book describes new instruments and techniques of gradient magnetic measurements with three sensors, as well as the new technique of processing and interpretating hydromagnetic data on the basis of adoptive filtration and reparametrization. The text provides unique data of geomagnetic surveys carried out by Russian research vessels in different regions of the World Ocean, including submersible apparatus and ingenious theoretical and experimental technology of the magnetic modeling and investigations of the nature of magnetic anomalies. The results of systems analysis of geochemical content and composition during the mid-oceanic ridge basalt are presented.

This book is wonderful for people who love WWII. It has great pictures and wonderful accuracy. This is the best World War Two book with pictures that I have read. If you like WWII, then you should get this book.

Best All Around Reference Book on the War.......2000-01-07

I'm very sorry that this book is no longer in print. As a graduate student of history, I refer to it constantly, and I have found it to be the best all around reference book on the Second World War. It combines a day-to-day chronology of the war, biographies of major figures, and lengthy essays on the weapons of war. It is remarkably balanced in its views, and its only significant shortcoming is that the Holocaust is not given adequate treatment.

Comprehensive chronology of World War II in a single volume.......1998-09-19

Although this book contains very little in the way of photographs, it still provides an excellent day by chronology of the entire war. For a small single volume work of just over 600 pages, it contains a wealth of information that will not be found in other works. The back section is devoted to reviews of the major land, sea, and air assets and tactics used by the axis and allied powers. I particularly like the review of the British Gloster Gladiator where the book states: "The pity is that it had to be used at all."

An excellent and thorough chronology of World War II.......1997-07-06

I'm very sorry that this book is unavailable now. It is an excellent day-by-day chronology of World War II for both European and Pacific theaters, giving the reader a good feel for the flow of events. My only criticism is something common to many books on World War II: inadequate coverage of the Holocaust. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone wanting an introduction to the War
