Unfortunately, the book is now obsolete. The software is now known as Orcad Capture, version 9.2, and Orcad Layout, version 9.2, there are little similarities between the current software and the processes described in the book.

García Mainar's critical study of the films of the late Stanley Kubrick includes analysis of all but his last work, Eyes Wide Shut, and offers both a formal analysis of the films based on style and narrative pattern, and a theoretical, postmodernist approach to ideas presented in the films. Narrative and stylistic patterns in reviewing Kubrick..........2000-05-01

It's about time someone would write up a profound review onsuch a profound director. Such a book should be almost the cinematiccontra to the excellent review, "Rhetoric of fiction", by Wayne C. Booth, where he examines the question: "Where does the real story lie?", to which th answer is, ofcourse, in the reader/viewer's mind, and not on the screen, or in the pages of the book. But this book is not such... Such examples are lacking in the book, which is very interesting, there's no mistake in it, but it doesn't examine the purpose of such narrative and stylistic tools, but only very broadly points them out.

Still, very good.

I had a hard time classifying this book, since it's part autobiography and part research. From the title, it's obvious that it's partially about sex. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book, especially with that book art.

The writer is a Toronto journalist, so she's writing about places that I've been to, books that I've read, movies I've seen. It's interesting to see how the same set of events can affect people in very different ways. I don't agree with this writer's opinion on everything, but I do respect the research, care and time she's put into her book.

The topics covered in this book are dating, lesbian bathhouses, the definition of the word "slut", cyber-sex, transgendered men (women who want to become men), pornography, prostitution/escorts/strippers and marriage. It's an odd assortment of topics, especially since she chose to end the book with a discussion of marriage. Ms. Chiose admits that she considers personal freedom to be quite difficult to reconcile with marriage. But, goes on to discuss its merits and weaknesses.

If there's one theme that I could identify in this book, it would be female sexual choice. Ms. Chiose seems to be very stuck on the idea that women and men have very different choices available to them, though I don't agree with this. I hesitate to peg this book as a feminist book, since there are obviously degrees of feminism, though this book probably isn't on Martha Stewart's reading list!

A contempory and detailed account of "the chess match of the century", GM Gligoric sets the scene in a very readable introduction to the match and to each game. Detailed as his annotations are, as a very mediocre player I found that they were a tad difficult to follow and could be a bit dry in places, but were still followable and gave an excellent idea of the twists and turns in each game. If you're curious about the specific match or interested in the games of Spassky or Fischer I highly recommend it, but it would take a lot of self effort I suspect for an average player to use it to significantly improve his game.

Good book for review.......2005-10-05

I worked with PC's for 10 years before reading this book. I already knew about half of the information in this book, but it helped confirm what I already knew and fill in the gaps for the other half. I didn't order this book from Amazon.com, I bought it off the shelf from Fry's Electronics. After looking at the other books they had on the shelf, this one seemed the most straightforward. Unlike other books written by Microsoft, I still have this one in my reference library.

Good book as a supplement.........2005-08-12

I've looked at a dozen A+ certification books along with reading the reviews about them. Every one of them seems to get mixed reviews. They run the gauntlet from being the best book on the subject to being the worse. I bought the "All in 1 guide to A+ certification" by Mike Meyers, which while it has some flaws, seems to be fairly thorough. Of course, I haven't taken the A+ exams yet, so I could be WAY off. I just bought "Faster Smarter A+ Certification" and so far, It seems pretty decent, It has some things that the "All in 1 guide" doesn't while it lacks some of the information that's in the "All in 1 guide". Hopefully, between the 2, I'll pass my exams!

I passed hardware part of A+!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-08-09

The intent of this book is try and give the absolute 'bare bones' minimum information you need to just pass in the easiest format.- It does that. I ended up with a 810 out of 900(pass is 510), and the 1 other book I used I did not receive until 2 days before I wrote the exam.
My experience today was: 15 questions were 'brain dead easy'; eg 'identify the Serial Port in the picture' 40 questions were stuff from the book; eg commen i/o port addresses and IRQ's, laser printing process, port speeds and bus styles, commen CPUs. 10 question were commen experience stuff, 8 were not in the book, that i had to get elsewhere, and about 5 I got wrong! good luck

Good 2nd book.......2005-03-11

I first read Michael Meyers all in one book, then reviewed the material with this book. I found this one to be a great refresher to have, but don't attempt to grasp the concepts needed if this is your first book and you have no PC experience. Otherwise, it's a great study tool.

DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!.......2005-01-29

If it wasn't for the fact that I have nearly ten years experience dealing with computers, I probably would have failed the A+ exam. The editing was terrible, with many illustrations not matching there description, especially in chapter 10, where none of the illustrations even match the section they are in. In addition, the book did not cover about 20% of the hardware exam. Furthermore, the practice CDs don't work without email support from Microsoft, which is slow to say the least. If you have some experience and are using this book to supplement some form of training, then it's not so bad...if you can find it for free.

I purchased this book and found it to be invaluable in passing the Network+ exam. The book followed the exam objectives in order and was clear and precise. However the CD had some loading errors, but I contacted Microsoft and explained the problem, and the sent me a link to fix the errors and it worked fine. Also purchased test questions from VN Publishing and passed the exam with a 758 score the first time. And thats with no networking experience at all! Thanks!!

I passed with 793 out of 900 after only about 6 weeks study. This book formed the basis of my study and I found it pretty good. The only warning I would give was that there were about 2 or 3 questions on the exam I couldn't answer, but I suppose that is normal. It was easy to read and I especially liked the last section for studying just before the exam. The included cdrom test was actually quite closed to some of the questions on the exam but I'd suggest getting another source for the questions as there is a bigger exam pool than 110 questions.

OK for an Overview.......2003-09-29

This book is OK for anyone who want to gain a rough overview of the Network+ Exam topics.

However, this book doesn't provide you with in-depth knowledge of the different Networking Technologies.

If you want to get a serious, strong exam preparation, there are other Network+ Exam preparation Training Books who perform this task much better.

Additionally, this book describes the different technologies in a hard understandable way. So the lerning process is not well balanced. That is why i rate the book only with 2 Stars.

Too much information.......2005-01-25

The author of this book is obviously a considerable scholar -- but he provides us with so much detail on areas related to the Theatrum that it is difficult to focus on his own stated aim : telling us why the atlas was "a watershead publication; it changed lived and altered perceptions for ever". Plus, he has positioned the chapters dealing with the atlas itself at the very back, so we only get to it after wading through Ortelius' life and times and many associates in exhaustive detail. Also, I would have liked to see discussion of some of the current historical map contraversies -- like the Piri Ries maps, or the possible Portaguese discovery of Australia.

Hard for me to maintain my initial enthusiasm.
