This book on legal ethics is the premier text that examines the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, the ABA Code of Judicial Conduct, the American Law Institute's new Restatement of the Law Governing Lawyers, and the case law. The book is analytical, concise, and thorough. Empirical studies show that many lawyers are unaware of even basic information about legal ethics, the law governing lawyers. Older lawyers, who draw a disproportionate number of malpractice suits, often have neither formally studied ethics nor kept up with developments in the law. Many malpractice suits arise out of ethics violations, such as disqualification of lawyers for conflicts of interest, multi-disciplinary practice, and the attorney-client evidentiary and ethical privilege. The Ethics Rules are laws typically adopted by court rules in the same way that the Rules of Civil Procedure are law. These Ethics Rules are just as complex as the Civil Practice Rules or the Evidence Rules. Many of the Ethics Rules cannot be known through some sort of innate or hereditary awareness automatically infused in ordinary human beings once they are admitted to the bar. In particular, they highlight the need for cooperation, and the participation of farmers, as a strategy to cope with agri-environmental issues and resource management problems.

As the title says, your basic NMR spectroscopy catelog........2000-12-09

NMR spectroscopy is a powerful tool for chemists interested in structure, dynamics and function of molecular systems. The success of this technique has lead to a proliferation of experiments yielding a wealth of data about chemical structure ranging from small molecules to not-so-small proteins and beyond. The authors have compiled a core of NMR experiments that will serve a student new to the field or an old-hand who has forgotten the phase-cycle of a particular pulse sequence. The book is sectioned into 14 chapters with the 1st two being introductory ( What is a NMR spectrometer and why is it sitting away from everything else? or If I have radiation dampening do I need to get a mop?). The next 10 chapters take the reader from routine spectroscopy experiments to a variety of 1- and 2- dimensional liquid NMR experiments with and without magnetic field gradients. The last two chapters introduce the reader to some basic 3-dimensional liquid sequences and solids NMR spectroscopy. These two subjects could have been extended but I imagine we will see that in the next volume, 150 to 300 NMR experiments. There are 160 (according to my count) different experiments and measurements discussed and each is organized to familarize the experimenter with the purpose of the experiment, the procedure to perform it, and some expected results for the experiment. The authors have wisely included a readers observation area for each section. This allows the utility of the book to grow as the reader gains experience with each NMR method. This book should be in any NMR laboratory and would be an added help to any course using NMR spectroscopy. I know any undergraduate organic chemistry course should get an attendance boost from experiment 8.15 where the students would determine the alcohol content in polish vodka. (As a student I would have suggested a more hands on approach.) The final upshot is this is an great compendium and should be a staple in any NMR laboratory period.

100 and more basic NMR experiments is an essential book for anyone working in an NMR lab, who occasionally has to do more than a repetitive basic 1D protocol. Braun et. al. cover everything from a brief introduction to a spectrometer, to calibrations and standard tests, right through homo and heteronuclear 1,2, and 3 dimentional nmr.

Each experiment is set out with a schematic of the pulse program, phase cycling,and processing parameters, as well as literature citations and practical examples. It is particularily useful for users of Bruker spectrometers, as a lot of the nomenclature is identical to those of the Bruker instruments.

People who have never done a heteronuclear 2D experiment could get an acceptable spectrum with very little other lterature.

I have been a fan of Mr. McManus' short stories for years. It turns out that his talent is endless! In this full length novel we are introduced to Bo Tulley, Pap, and a pet spider! This is a great escape read! I was a bit worried that if Mr. McManus switched from humor to mystery writing that I may be disappointed by the serious approach. I need not have worried. This is a well told story by a writer who can handle any genre!

Meet Sheriff Bo Tully, a stickler for the law. Of course, he'd rather give someone a right than read them their rights, snoop rather that bother with niceties like bothersome search warrents, and with real bad guys, he's just libel to shoot first! But the Scraggs never were no account and now Batim, patriach of the clan, has a dead man on his ranch. Not unusual, but Batim says they didn't kill the guy. Somehow, Tully believes him. So begins the solving of the mystery, but in Blightmore County, you do things the Blight Way... Quoth the Raven...

Bo and Pap make for a delightful read.......2007-04-07

Bo Tully is a widower and the sheriff of Blight County, Idaho, as was his father. Bantim Scragg's and his sons are not known as law-abiding citizens so when a call comes in that they are reporting a body on their fence, it gets Tully's attention. When more victims are found, clearly not locals, the crime takes on a different focus.

Patrick F. McManus is a well-known author of humorous outdoor adventures and a columnist. To his repertory, he now adds mystery writer. This is a delightful book in a different setting and interesting police work. Blight is a very small Idaho town where everyone knows everyone and the weather is an element not to be ignored. All the characters are wonderful, particularly Bo and his father, whom everyone calls "Pap." There is gentle humor, a good mystery and an unexpected ending. I liked that the mystery included both locals and outsiders. I've not read McManus before, but I shall look forward to reading him again.

I got hooked on Patrick McManus way back with "Never sniff a gift fish", and I now own them all, but I was concerned that a murder mystery might not appeal to me like his other works. Boy was I wrong! Same comical style, some new characters, and the sheriff is really ole Patrick McManus himself, just like the older books he wrote. I can't wait for the next one to get to my home, and it is being shipped now. If you liked his work before, you'll love his new books.

This book is great, as are all the other books written by Patrick McManus. One reason I think his books are so good is because I have had the same, or very similar, things happen to me in the great outdoors.

This book is more of a mystery. It combines humor with mystery for a great story. I only wish McManus' books were more frequent.
