This is a great reference for teachers at all levels. In it's well layed out pages it explores differant methods, types of students and gives practical advice on running a studio. I don't own it, but have checked it out from the library 3 or 4 times!

Great puzzles - big printing error.......2007-09-15

These are great puzzles and this book provides 6 levels of difficulty, starting at easy and progressing to the most challenging. So if you've never done them before you can solve quite a few successfully without getting too frustrated. My only issue is that each page displays the wrong number of ships youneed to locate in the grid. There should be THREE Destoyers and only TWO are shown. The grids themselves are correct, though, as are the answers. So it's a small issue but if you're new to these puzzles, that error might throw you off. It's consistent throughout the book but shown correctly in the directions at the front. Can't believe it went to press that way. Otherwise, great book, nice size, good quality paper.

This book was absolutely wonderful,I few years ago I found a single battleship puzzle in a mixed logic book and I have never been able to find another. When I ordered this book I had spent forever trying to find these puzzles again and they are still the most fun logic puzzles I have ever done. The book is absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys logic puzzles.

Love it! Love it! Love it! Love the wonderful new puzzles (totally different from sudoku) Love the paper that is is on, yo can erase without going through the paper, and love the compact size. My only complaint would be that it needs more puzzles! These are so hard to find! ; )

Almost useless........2006-08-21

I can't help but agree with most of the reviews on this page; this guide is nearly useless. The Prima (the leader in half-assing every guide they've ever gotten their hands on) guide "walks" us through a game where chest locations are off and inaccurate, enemies don't appear in the right spots, the data on the Fiend Challenges is basically: "kill the guys that um... you know, attack... uh yeah." There's misspellings in a few cases and grammatical errors. Also keep in mind: their boss strategies aren't crucial to your survival, I bearly used 'em. The only slightly useful piece of this guide is the Golden Scarabs. One note on that, once you find the 50th GO BACK AND TURN THEM IN. I made the mistake of not trudging back to town due to being anxious about beating the game. In summery: don't buy this unless you really need feel you need a very small amount of visual support. You're better off on your own.

unless you are a complete newbie at ninja gaiden, this guide is worthless. full of empty space and pictures with very little information. the worst offense? "ALL ITEM LOCATIONS" in huge print on the cover. But, as i discovered, this guide doesn't show item locations for level other than normal!! The guide has pretty much no discussion of strategy for weapons, even omitting strats for some weapons ( like kitetsu ) because they are "secret". terribly uninformed and underresearched, this guide is a greivious offense to an amazing game.

This is good for just a general guide. It provides little information on the boss fights in the game and little on tips on how to beat them. I used this and a Free game FAQ walkthrough while playing (and am still playing by the way), and the walkthrough had loads of information on item locations and how to defeat Bosses and other enemies as well. I don't regret buying this guide as it has had some benefits, but unless you have money to burn, I would get a free walkthrough and use that.

My comments:-

Use of matte paper that produce dull color quality. The glossy type used by Prima for its other game guides are much more punchy.

Poor image quality - sometimes can't even figure out what the pictures are illustrating. This is especially so when the guide is trying to show you the combo moves of the various weapons.

The book could be vastly improved with more information - such as by providing convenient lists of special items (ie. golden scarabs and weapons) and the locations/quests to obtain them. The section on the special fighting techniques also does not cover all of the weapons. The illustrations for the specific weapons are also rather skimpy.

Most of the time, the tips for the Boss fights are too brief and don't work for me. I found tips from free guides available on the internet to be more thorough and effective for tackling the nasty bosses.

Buy the Prima game guide for Ninja Gaiden Black if you just want a basic walkthrough with pictures. I bought the book but still need to supplement from the internet with information that are not in (or those that cannot be easily found) the book.

Wonderful Text. Helps to rationalize and boost understanding on why Cubans living in Miami have such foreign behaviors in the eyes of the outsider. The author takes you by the hand, and walks you step by step. Absolutely wonderful and did an excellent job at steering clear of any bias.

A fascinating and very well-researched book........1999-09-08

Havana USA is a very thorough account of post-revolutionary Cuban migration to America. One of the interesting aspects of Cuban emigration since Castro has been the perspectives given to us by the media and the government - many of them misleading. Garcia dispels these myths with facts backed up my extensive research and personal interviews. A very interesting read.

Liked It, But Didn't Blow Me Away.......1999-04-09

Not a lot of literature in this area. Clearly written for the non-Cuban audience. Author remains objective throughout. Perhaps a little too objective. Generally, I would recommend it, especially for exiles like me who may have been away from Miami for much of the period covered by the book.

How can we understand the world as a whole instead of separate natural and human realms? Joseph T. Rouse proposes an approach to this classic problem based on radical new conceptions of both philosophical naturalism and scientific practice.

Rouse begins with a detailed critique of modern thought on naturalism, from Neurath and Heidegger to Charles Taylor, Thomas Kuhn, and W. V. O. Quine. He identifies two constraints central to a philosophically robust naturalism: it must impose no arbitrarily philosophical restrictions on science, and it must shun even the most subtle appeals to mysterious or supernatural forces.
