I purchased this because it was "suggested" by the "others who bought, also bought" feature on Amazon. WOW! I'm glad I did! From the first page I was navigating the fretboard in a 'new' way. A great supplement to any other fretboard techniques you might be using now. Quick paced instruction and self testing that I think would be relevant to any guitarist who still considers him/herself a student. I'm very glad I purchased this and feel my playing has improved substantially since I started studying this book.

Learning the guitar fretboard .......2007-07-26

I found this book to be very through and I am able to move through it at a nice pace. You can tell it was put together by a teacher with years of experience. He has provided the tools and the explanations to go with it. I highly recommend this book to any guitar player that does not know the fret board. I have been playing for 30 years and am finally learning what the notes are that I'm playing. This book has provided the missing piece to my ability to learn songs much faster.

If you ever wanted to learn the guitar fretboard this book will get you there. So bite the bullet and take a step back to move two steps forward, you won't regret it. I wish I had done it 30 years ago, better late than never.

What I was looking for!.......2007-07-22

This books makes it clear: this is just the beggining! However once you've completed it, you know you've made a step forward. It gives you very good tips to find your way around the fretboard, and deserves its name of workbook: it is like a crossword book! Full of exercices, you feel like you're playing a game! However, if you're looking for a theory book, that's not it. The advices at the end of the book to make you keep on going mastering the fretboard are very interesting, it is overall a very good tool, a good a start or, for people like me, another reason to say to yourself "why didn't I figure this out before"!

The book provides a detailed introduction to gcc compiler. After reading this book, compiling a source code and writing script files should not be a problem. Nice intro to using optimizer and other options of gcc

Good for starters but nothing more than that.......2006-12-20

If you don't know anything about gnu gcc compilers this is a good book for you. However, as you go on you realize this is the most basic information and you need to resort to other books for more depth. Would recommend for starters but don't rely on it to understand how to setup and learn the inner structure. You will however understand how to use the compiler and what the compiler flags mean.

good handy book... for the price you pay it is a steal

very informative on the compiling and building process.. if you are new to gcc/g++ then this book will give you a clear view of the workings underneath

Crisp, Clean and very very well written!.......2006-07-02

This is an excellent book if you are new with command line compiling with C/C++. It shows you step by step commands and switches to learn. More importantly, it gives you a no non-sense explanation of what is happening during the process. After reading this book, you will have a clear understanding of compiling, linking, objects, libraries, make utility and where everything fits in. I wish I would have picked up this book when I was studying C Programming. Its targeted for beginner's new to command line compiliing using GNU tools. New C-Programmers using IDE GUI tools may expand their horizon with the command line details.

Intro to GCC a winner with me.......2006-03-23

This book enabled me to start writing and compiling my own programs right away. Previously I had learnt C and C++ but was using RAD and not compiling from the command line. I found the gcc manual command line options just too overwhelming to sort out. With the book I found it was much simpler than I thought. There are lots of very simple examples of things which you can use as starting points for your own programs. Things which might cause you problems are also explained. The book covers the basics but has a list of other books for more in depth explanations of the debugger and the like.
I heartly recommend this book.

Seeking to transcend the hoary insistence on East-West dichotomies, this collection looks for transformations in cultural and political organization across Eurasia that were both more general and more psychologically significant to pre-1830 actors themselves than the problem that has obsessed twentieth-century comparativists, namely, the origins of a unique European industrialism. Specifically, it contains nine coordinated essays which explore the proposition that the integration of isolated units to form more cohesive systems in France, Russia, and other European countries ca 1000-1830 corresponds in important respects to integrative processes in parts of Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Japan.

The collaborators of this project show, in varying degrees, that political centralization in these areas reflected and inspired the creation of vernacular literatures at the expense of more universal languages. They illustrate that societies in widely separated areas, with no obvious links, became more literate, mobile, specialized, and commercial at roughly the same time. And they point out that administrative development in many of these same areas showed curiously synchronized cycles. Finally, having defined Eurasian parallels and sketched their limits, they push on to explore the underlying dynamics of these discoveries, scrutinizing the role of guns, global climate, markets, new information networks, institutional pressures, and sixteenth-century messianism.

Insofar as similarities between some European and Asian areas exceeded those between different sectors of Asia, this collection invites historians to reject continental perspectives in favor of more thematic, contextually-specific categories. But at the same time, it raises the possibility of a broad "early modern" period for Eurasia at large.

The contributors are Mary Elizabeth Berry (University of California, Berkeley), Peter Carey (University of Oxford), James B. Collins (Georgetown University), Valerie Kivelson (University of Michigan), R. I. If you have no experience in the field of dentistry, but you want a biological or chemical background to the subject, this is the book to get. Other books were too advanced for my level of knowledge (undergrad interested in dentistry); however, this book is structured like a general biology textbook (very comprehensive and understandable). I strongly recommend this book if you are interested in dentistry, the science behind dentistry, prepping for dentistry school, or if you merely want to know your dentist's lingo.

This is an excellent text book. The text is very clear and organized on every topic and easy to read with good diagrams and pictures. Each page gives you a wealth of information.
Each chapter starts with chapter outline that guides the reader through the book and makes it more organized. It covers topics such as Cariology(The lesion, etiology, prevention and control), Biomaterials, Fundamentals in tooth preparation, Instruments and equipments for tooth preparation, Composite restorations, Amalgam and Metal restorations and a lot more in greater details. The quality of the book is also good and the price tag is reasonable.

An exceptional book!.......1998-08-07

I am a second year dental student at the University of the West Indies, School of Dentistry, Mount Hope Medical Sciences Complex, Trinidad, W.I. This book was a recommended text on our reading list. I used the book to prepare for my recent dental exams, and as it turned out I managed to top my class...I guess this is a reflection on how student oriented this book is.

I really enjoyed reading the book. It was never a bore, and the illustrations were very helpful in visualising what was being narrated in the text.

I highly recommend this book to all dental students and I also feel that those already in practice should have a view of this book to refresh their minds.

There is much knowledge to be gained from this book as it provides the beginning student with a firm foundation upon which to build on.
