Book Description
Thriving in today's new speed-driven, business-oriented economy requires more than the ability to operate the newest CAD package or apply the latest engineering spec. As technology continues to evolve, aspects of design once relegated to an individual (e.g., cost, time, quality, market need, and customer requirements) are increasingly becoming the concern of every member of the project team. That's why Design Tools for Engineering Teams introduces readers to the engineering design process using a holistic, project-oriented approach. From concept through delivery of the final product, a recurring engineering scenario is used to guide readers to an understanding of how one aspect of design influences another. It becomes clear how the responsibilities of designers, technicians, and engineers overlap and interface with all aspects of the engineering and business process. The result is a book that serves as a timeless guide to making sound decisions, communicating effectively, defining and solving problems, and functioning efficiently in a team environment where change is the only constant.

Book Description
Economic Behavior and Distributional Choice brings together, for the first time, Harold M. Hochman's key papers on income redistribution and policy in one accessible volume.
The introduction describes the genesis and development of a new direction in thinking, and the papers that follow cover the evolutions of an idea: the alliance between distribution policy and distributional preference as developed through public choice theory.
This fine collection illustrates Harold M. Hochman's major contributions to the discussion of the relationship between distributional preference, income transfer policy and economic justice, including the concept of Pareto Optimal Distribution. These contributions have significantly advanced our understanding of the ways in which economic analysis can inform income distribution policy.
This path-breaking selection of writings, including a set of innovative papers on fiscal design, urban policy and addictive behavior, will be of great interest to academics, students and researchers concerned with macroeconomics and economic behavior.

Book Description
Who Leland Gregory voted for in the 2004 presidential election is his business. But when George W. Bush won a second term, Gregory had to be doing cartwheels around his computer. The humorist, after all, makes a career of recording human behavior at, let's just say, its less-than-brilliant moments.
Bush-Whacked does a thorough job of tracking the president's language mangling as well as the inept bungling of his administration:
" "And so during these holiday seasons, we thank our blessings . . ." -GWB at Fort Belvoir, Va., December 21, 2004.
" Through bureaucratic mismanagement, parts for a top-secret spy plane, originally intended for destruction, were discovered being auctioned off on eBay. -New York Post
" "(T)he illiteracy level of our children are appalling." -GWB, Washington, D.C., January 23, 2004
With his expert nose for nuttiness, Gregory includes numerous perplexing quotes, wacky anecdotes, and weird one-liners in this hysterical collection. This isn't the president at his finest, just Dubya at his funniest.

insightful.......2005-07-12
If you play the piano with a passion, read this book. It gives many insights into how pianists from the golden age of pianism gave life to music on the keyboard. Hofman, Rubinstein, Paderewski,Sauer, Busoni, Bauer, Godowsky are just some of the greats. You can gauge for yourself how piano playing is expressed in terms of an art and a science. Not just body but mind too. Advice like not over-reliance on the metronome. Use your musical ear. You would have to read the book a couple of times before you find some common threads. They sure are golden threads to spin your music. Enjoy.

Book Description
Chicks On Speed (COS) are Melissa Logan (from New York), Kiki Moorse (Munich), and Alex Murray-Leslie (Bowral, Australia). They're a band, a clothing label, a website, a record label, a design team, and a 21st-century phenomenon. This, their first publication, aims to capture their sense of freedom and spontaneity. Each page is crafted and designed in their own handwriting. The book is divided into periods of their lives: "Fake Band," "Pressing the Press," "Sell Out," and so on. Die-cut, over-printed, and assembled from many different paper stocks, this book approximates a COS scrapbook, full of press clippings, personal mementos, printed ephemera, and free merchandise.
The three members of COS met at art school in Munich and then moved to Berlin, where they reinvented themselves as Chicks On Speed, a girl-power collective. From providing a raunchy, cover-version soundtrack to parties and gigs, to customizing visitors' clothing at exhibitions (Fondation Cartier), to posing with Karl Lagerfeld for the cover of their latest album, the Chicks have invaded the worlds of fashion and music with their endearing do-it-yourself aesthetic and good-time vibe.
Customer Reviews:
Egg-cellent!!!.......2004-03-03
Yes, if you're a fan at all, it's a must-have! Just one of those things y'know! The price isn't all that steep considering all the freebies that you get as well.. Let's see... a CD fulla live tracks and early recordings, a pattern for the COS overall, a FAKE poster that's folded in an insane manner, a one of two style garment, either a 'dress' or this other overall thingy... I didn't open it. I'm a guy so I wouldn't wear it in the first place, and of course, the tote itself.
It's a suweet deal.. and the book is pretty amazing... The content of course, but the way the book was cut, it's one of a kind. All jagged on all sides, every section of the book is cut in a different manner. Funky and fun.
So that's the scoop of this book. Get it and enjoy. Like the chix said: "F*ck art, let's craft!" ...and indeed they did.
Book Description
On the February 2, 1960, episode of The Danny Thomas Show, entertainer Danny Williams (Danny Thomas) is arrested for a traffic violation by a small-town sheriff named Andy Taylor, played by a good-natured Southern actor named Andy Griffith. Thus was born one of the most popular television shows of the 1960sThe Andy Griffith Show.
From the time it officially debuted in October 1960, The Andy Griffith Show was a perennial favorite on CBS, finishing its eight-year run as the top-rated show on television. It also produced some of the most remembered characters (Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, and Barney Fife) of the era. Each of the show's 249 episodes is fully detailed here, including air dates, cast and production personnel, guest stars, and a bevy of facts about that particular episode. The 1986 television movie Return to Mayberry is covered in detail. Brief biographies of the show's major stars, producers, directors and writers are also provided.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent addition to collection........2007-01-11
This book is a great starting point for any fan of The Andy Griffith Show. There is no single book that puts together everything that a fan would want, but this one is a must have. Coupled with other books that Amazon recommends on The Andy Griffith Show, Robinson's book is an excellent addtion to a collection.
Pretty good, but no episode index!.......2006-02-18
Like another reviewer here at first glance I was disappointed after spending $35 on this...the printing looks second rate and the half-tone pictures are barely on the good side of awful...BUT...after looking through this quite a bit, it is very evident that a lot of time and research was put into it, and I think it's quite a nice book.
One glaring drawback is the lack of any kind of episode index or episode table of contents. I was looking for "The Pickle Story" and had to thumb through the entire book to find it. Hard to believe the authors would spend hours on the smallest details and not spend a little time to make a basic episode index. Took 1 star off for that.
Also, I do wish the episode guide had them in the order aired and not produced. Makes watching the DVDs and trying to find an episode a mess (further justifies 4 stars instead of five). But I do recommend it if you want detail. It has lots of detail and is very complete (except no episode index---argghhh!)
Includes info on rare pilot and the pilot for Mayberry RFD where Andy gets married and Barney is his best man.
Just THE Best..........2002-05-23
This book has everything you would need to know and most fans of this show NEED to know a lot! Buy one for you and another for a gift. Then check out the authors book about Mayberry RFD! Again very very good. You can tell the author loves the show and thats the kinda guy I want to read, because so do I!!

Customer Reviews:
Acceptable book.......2006-11-12
The book was generally useful and informative. There was a slip in one of the opening Chapters (Part 1 Task 5: Instead of File, Preferences, General, it should have been "Edit, Preferences, General") and the print was too thin in the dialog boxes printed though a pictureque view was attempted to be given to the reader, a magnifying glass may have to be used in later parts of the book specially in Part 5, but on the overall, a real god guide for a beginner. Notwithstanding these small observations, I would still reccomend the book for beginners.
Great base for a Photoshop beginner.......2003-12-15
I am a beginning Photoshop user and I found this book to be great help. For an advanced Photoshop user, this could only be a simple reference book. It does not go into extreme depth with explanations on the many possible uses for each tool or function found in Photoshop. As the title implies, this book is used to teach how to use the application and its tools. It is well organized and starts with setting up Photoshop and ImageReady and progresses to teach the use of the tools found in Photoshop. It does this by the use of Tasks in every chapter. In the tasks, the tool or functions (like filters) are applied to (color) images with step by step instructions on what is happening and how to control what is happening to the image. The tasks are short and clear, usually only 2 pages in length. At the end of the tasks, additional how-to tips are given to understand 1 or 2 other ways to use the tool/function just taught. The use of full color to show the photographs in the examples along with the Photoshop menus and controls help to convey the lesson to the reader with simple visual understanding. I've read the entire book and now better understand and use Photoshop CS, but still use this book as a reference on how to do something when I just can't remember.
It succeeded on what it set out to do and I love it.

Book Description
From balancing the checkbook to figuring out how long to cook a turkey, this revised edition of the incredible bestselling math guide (100,000 copies sold) provides easy answers to everyday practical math problems.
Customer Reviews:
disappointed.......2006-07-19
Not what I was looking for, small print and not easy shortcuts. I know how to do the math the long method. I was looking for things you can do in your head for a rough estimate.
It adds up..........2004-09-09
As a student in college and graduate school, I had far more math than this small book covers, so in fact it is not the be-all and end-all of all mathematics texts. Alas, there is not a quadratic equation or a Fibonacci number listed in the index, nor will one find here the secrets to factoring polynomial equations. However, as my students in Algebra have often observed, one very rarely has to do those sorts of things in 'real life' (with the less than delicately phrased question, 'When am I ever going to need this...?').
For most everyday purposes, however, this is an entertaining and generally non-threatening overview of mathematics principles. There are three main sections: The Mathematics of Personal Finance (money matters!); Outdoor Math; and Indoor Math. In the first section on personal finance, the authors Kogelman and Heller look at the primary uses of math in most people's lives - how to figure out raises and taxes; how to understand bank addition and subtraction, particularly as it relates to balancing the checkbook; how to figure out returns on investments; and how to calculate interest on loans, from mortgages and automobiles to credit cards. This book will in many instances save the reader more than its purchase price. The information adds up!
The second section, Outdoor Math, includes issues as diverse as sport and travel to restaurant dining and gambling. How do you calculate a tip? If the menu says that a 15% or 18% gratuity is added, how can you be sure it was done correctly? If you travel, how do you make sure your exchange rate for money is a fair one? In the games and gambling section, the authors do not give you a perfect plan for counting cards at blackjack or beating the house at Atlantic City, but they do give you some insight into probabilities and risks. Odds are that this section will help.
For the final section, Indoor Math, the authors again return to some crucial, everyday applications. How does one figure out if bills are done correctly? Are you really using that much gas and electricity? Do you save anything by closing a room or shutting off the hot water heater part of the day? Also, practical matters like figuring the square foot measurements for carpeting, comparison shopping for better values involving math, and understanding news reports and media (just what is the difference between 'average income' and 'median income', anyway?).
Kogelman and Heller write in an interesting and accessible way, without jargon and without abstraction -- everything is grounded in real-world applications and is meaningful to the reader. Math can be your friend! This is a good companion.
Good for the occasional reference.......2003-03-13
I don't use this book much but it is good for the occasional reference. I used it for the Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion when my baby was running a fever and the only thermometer I could find was Celsius.
A good book for Pre Algebra and fun to read.......2000-10-17
I wouldn't say it's the only math book you need but it has a lot math facts for student starting Algebra and for Grow ups to it's one of those around the house math books but kids well learn there math from this book
