If you are looking to learn Assembler, this is definitely the text for you. It kind of breezes over the basics. I would like to have seen more example circuits.

I thought the projects might be something for real world use. This seems to me more a like a college textbook. Each project is just something else to do with the pic itself.

This a great book, easy to understand and follow. I have to apologize. When I wrote about this book, got confused with another I bought at the same time. I think it was About "Pic basic and basic pro". This is a great book, if you are new to pic's this is the book to start.

I found this book useful for me. I had no previous experience with PIC microcontrollers and got some confidence to take my first steps after read the book. The sequence of lessons sometimes was a bit tricky but as soon as you take the author's rhythm the things go flawlessly.

A very good introductory book for PIC Assembly Language.......2006-09-10

I didn't find a whole lot of worthwhile updates in this book, versus the original. HOWEVER, since this book is much cheaper than the original, I strongly recommend it over the first edition.

What this book does very well, is to introduce one to PIC Assembly Language. Though it chooses the 16F84 as it's main introductory chip, the same Assembly Language can be used on other offerings from Microchip.

My only disappointment with this new edition is that Mr. Smith did not change his example chip to another, more affordable PIC. But this is of no consequence to learning what he has to teach, and it's a definite keeper.

I have read chapters of this book outloud to friends over and over and over. It's drop dead, laugh out loud funny. With lines like "Contrary to popular opinion, the Fruite Brute was not Gay" and chapters analyzing the evolution of Cookie Monster's decades of Odes to Chococate Chip obsession, how can you go wrong?

This book is an indepth look at junk food and its culture. It brings up philosophy dispensed by The Cookie Monster. Everything you ever wanted to know about gum, chocolate, cookies, candy and cereal. Celebrity quotes on their favorite junk foods. It is interesting as well as one of the funniest books I've ever read. It is perfect for the beach or commuting on public transportation. This is a book that will be passed from person to person and re-read many times. I can't recommend it more highly. It's perfect for what it is aiming to be. An amusing exploration of our nations real favorite past time.

If you are a fan of Desperate Houswives, then this is for you. It's choc-full of various bits and pieces all relating to the show.
With chapters such as The Tangled Wisteria Lane, The Housewives, Desperate Husbands, The Houseguests and Episode Guide to name a few, there is something for everyone here of interest. There are great pictures (mostly stills from the show), quotes from various characters and information regarding the way the program is made. There are in-depth interviews with the cast and their profiles and on and on.
I was given this today as a gift and it's so ideal because I'm a fan. So if you are looking for a gift too, or just a treat for yourself, then pick this up because it's very good and there is a lot of fun reading to do.

Anyone who loves "Desperate Housewives" and wants to get as much of the inside scoop as possible should be getting the DVD and this book. While the interviews and profiles of the ensemble cast detailed in the book make reading about the "Desperate Housewives" experience gratifying, it is so much more as it takes us on the joyride of reliving much of the show's endearing moments by capturing all the crazy one-liners and quotable quotes. From Edie's infamous "FYI" to Susan in retort; to Karl's "The Heart Wants What It Wants"; to Julie's advice to Susan, "I always assumed I'd have sex for the first time before you had it again"; to Rex's indignance to Bree, "You're in the NRA. Difficult.......2007-07-27

Even though I have used Illustrator for several years, I found the steps and tips a little confusing. I bought this book to increase my knowledge.
It wasn't too helpful, especially when steps are skipped, and the tips don't correspond with the instructions. In one area the instructions read, "expand and ungroup, (about a million times) to delete the wireframe." Didn't work for me.

Not for beginners. Tips and adjoining windows don't seem to match. Projects were helpful in teaching you to be able to use the techniques for your own projects or creativity. But on the whole I don't feel the book was worth the price.

Three great things about this book!.......2006-07-10

There are three things that I really like about this book:
1. There are good illustrations that showcase step-by-step transformations of how each technique and tool was used to get to the "end goal"
2. There is a companion website that is fun to browse and helpful if you want some guidance with Adobe Illustrator but don't have the time or money to take a class
3. The tips on the Blend tool were especially helpful for me; they gave me new ideas for what I could be using this tool for when constructing illustrations

My personal preference for the style, layout and 'final' projects the book takes you through were not especially inspiring or attractive to me. For me, the layout of the book made reading it hard to follow and difficult to get engaged.

A well written book, but I would reccommend that you peek through it at a local bookstore so you can see if it fits your style or not before you go out and purchase it.

worth every penny, and then some.......2006-02-01

I'm usually under intense deadline pressure, and the learning curve for a particular technique can sometimes cost me valuable time. I just don't have time to really play with Illustrator, and thus a lot of the cutting edge features - particularly those that have emerged and evolved over the past two or three revisions - have unfortunately eluded me at times. While there are other books that touch on these features, 3D Effects in particular, there is no book anywhere close to Illustrator Gone Wild. The WOW book is a beautifully composed book. But it isn't an intense exploration of cutting edge design techniques like Gone Wild is. This one has been very helpful to me, allowing me to pick up techniques more or less verbatim, or riff in a related direction. Nice going, Dave and Mark.

From the supplier: The nature of the relationship between resort owners and managers is changing. The long-term, 'no-cut' management agreement of the past that gave management companies tight control over the property they manage is gradually giving way to shorter contracts that call for managers to share fiscal responsibility for the property. Owners are increasingly demanding greater control and are watching management more closely to see if the expectations they included in the contract are being met. This growing trend could gain added momentum from the recent ruling of a California court of appeals that applied agency principles to the hotel industry. According to these principles, the principal (the owner) always has the authority to fire the agency (the management firm).
