Book Description
The contributors to this book, from the US and Japan, explore the main issues involved in the international trade, foreign direct investment, and macro/financial relations of the United States and Japan and provide guidance to policymakers for measures to help overcome Japan's economic stagnation since the early 1990s.
The book is divided into three parts. Part I contains an empirical analysis of trade diversion under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a theoretical analysis of time in determining the structure and effects of trade with an application to Japan, and an empirical analysis of Japan's changing import behavior. Part II is focused on foreign direct investment (FDI), trade, and the behavior and structure of Japanese firms. Part III deals with macro/financial issues of current interest and importance in Japan. The analytical focus of the chapters is intended to enhance the understanding of the issues addressed and to provide some guidance to policymakers in the design of measures that will improve economic efficiency and welfare and help to overcome the economic stagnation that Japan has experienced in the past decade or more.
Economists, political scientists and policymakers will find the analysis provided in this volume invaluable in understanding the Japanese economy and economic relations between Japan and the United States.
Book Description
In A Fool Moon, Will Bullas hawks (honks!) his delightful sense of humor as he portrays members of the animal kingdom all dressed up, while comically dressing down our human world. Time for a checkup with The Ducktor? How about a kiss under the Mistletoad? Chapters include Spotlight on Sports, It's a Jungle Out There and A Duck for All Seasons. There's something funny going on around here, and it's not just what Will Bullas paints, it's the pairing of madcap imagery and zingy one-line titles.

Fun, fun and more fun........1999-07-14
A must-have coffee table book. No one that has come into my home since I bought Bullas' book has failed to pick it up and laugh. A great compliment to my taste and Bullas' charm. My teenagers love the book. I've given it as gifts to friends of all ages (my mother loves his work). Thanks for offering something so special.

Valuable Piano Book.......2007-05-06
Valuable Piano Book! It features great song selections from George Gershwin, George Shearing, Fats Waller, Dave Brubeck, etc. The arrangements are quite challenging to play. This book could be better if it has the transcription and Chords. Still, It's a great book and one of the best one I have.
The Worlds Best Piano Arrangements.......2007-01-16
Excellant arrangements for the songs chosen. I was, however, rather disappointed in the choice of songs and had assumed there would be the accompanying lyrics.
That's my fault, I should have further investigated the choice before ordering.
Great tunes, great arrangements.......2001-10-20
This is one of the best piano books I've ever bought. Easily worth three times the price. I'm particularly enjoying the Eddie Heywood transcriptions, but the Fats Waller, George Shearing, Dave Brubeck and others are great too. Definitely for the intermediate to advanced pianist.

Customer Reviews:
Good but..........2007-07-20
This is a good book but not great. I prefer PMP Flashcard Quicklet by Paul Sanghera, which is very self contained and comprehensive. This book by Rita has quite a few errors and too many references to Rita's other books (not self contained)...as a second flashcard book, it's fine.
Worth the purchase, but a bit strange in execution.......2007-07-03
This review is for the audio cd flashcards. I am a recent PMP, and this was one of the tools that I used to pass the certification exam. For the price, this is a worthwhile purchase for those that will be studying for the exam and will spend a lot of time in the car.
At the beginning of the first disk, the explanation states that the cds should not be transferred to any device, which sounds like it includes transferring to MP3 players. There is no encoding restriction to prevent you from treating this like a normal cd and saving it to your hard drive or MP3 player, but in this day and age, it's a strange thing to hear. It's unclear if that's actually the intent, but it certainly comes across that way.
Rita tries to break up the monotony by telling anecdotes and tips at the beginning of each section, but this gets tedious quickly. Some of her jokes fall flat, and it becomes excruciating upon repeated plays. In addition, some of this is straight from her PMP Exam Prep book.
The bulk of the cds is recorded by a voice actor has chapters divided up by the knowledge area. The voice actor asks a question, and then there is a brief pause so the listener can attempt to come up with the proper answer. The pause is followed by the answer...most of the time. Some questions are asked, but in some cases the voice actor states that the answer is too long to be repeated, which just comes across as disruptive to the flow of learning.
In this day and age, it's bizarre to hear that the audio recordings can't ethically be allowed on a portable media device. The CDs could benefit from having some of the conversational fat cut out of them, and it would be good to hear answers to all of the questions posed. That having been said, this is a worthwhile purchase if you will be studying for certification and will be in a place to hear the cds. It's a fairly inexpensive study aid, and it certainly helped me earn my certification.
Useless....Just take good notes.......2007-06-26
This product is not worthy of your money....
These are just global review of general topics. If you read the book, you won't need these. If you need these, you won't pass the test. Don't fall into Rita's clever web of buying her stuff...which is repackaged material. It's all in the book....
Useless.......2007-06-12
There was not enough product information on Amazon site, or else
I would not have bought this item. This is not what I expected.
When you say "Flash Cards", my understanding was that it would be
index cards that I could thumb-tack on the walls in my office/room.

Audio Flashcards for Passing the PMP and CAPM Exams, 4th Edition.......2005-09-26
Unfortunately I didn't realize this was not the study material for the PMP Certification test after Sept 25, 2005. Do not order the 4th edition as it is now out of date.
Bit expensive for 2 CDs, but very useful.......2005-09-19
The package contained 2 Audio CDs. They are very well made. They are in the format of questions and answers by each of the knoweledge areas of PMP exam. I would suggest using these after going through PMBOK and possibly another book for the exam. I used these towards the last couple of weeks. For the price charged, the CDs seem somewhwat expensive. But there is no other similar product.
Format Issues!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-04-28
I purchased the CD to listen in my car while commuting, but the CD doesn't work in my car. I have an older CD player and my car doesn't read a CD-R format. Sadly, this defeats my purpose. For the price, they should be delivering a higher quality product

Book Description
From the introduction:
On the morning of October 12, 1492, a group of Tainos discovered Christopher Columbus and a landing party from his flagship the Santa Maria on a beach of Guanahani. Russell Thornton, author of American Indian Holocaust and Survival: A Population History Since 1492, calls it quite justifiably, "one of the more important demographic events in the history of the world." Thornton, whose book was published by the University of Oklahoma Press in 1987, estimates that "there were 72 million Native Peoples in the Western Hemisphere in 1492." He notes as well, "this number plummeted in following centuries to perhaps 4 to 4.5 million - a population about 6% of its former size. That American Indians exist today and have shown recent population increases is a testament to perseverance over a dark period of history."
The history of that first voyage of "discovery" and the three others that Columbus made in his lifetime, has been glossed over for five centuries. Depicted mostly as one of romance and adventure, it is only recently that some of the hideous consequences of that "discovery" have been brought to light. The excuse proffered for Columbus is that he was a man of his time, but Hans Koning, in the final chapter of his work, Columbus: His Enterprise, contests this cavalier claim by suggesting that if this were so, then
It is to the greater glory of those men who were not "of their time": de las Casas, who in vain fought for half a century to save the Indians; Antonio de Montesinos, a [principled and fearless] Dominican friar . . . There were a few worldly men around too, who were not "of their time" . . . . Pedro Margarit, who sickened at the treatment of the Arawaks, who left Hispaniola and spoke against Columbus at Court. Alfonso de Albuquerque, who treated his subjects in Portuguese India as if they were people.

The Paradise of a Wonderful Read.......2007-05-31
To me, literature is a term used to describe books that are truly worth every reader's time and is significant enough to be remembered for a lifetime. The Paradise of Revenge is, without a doubt, literature. The benevolence and corruption of the human soul is seen through the eyes of young Josefina Camarillo. A devoutly religious girl, all Josefina wants is to become a wife and raise a family of her own. Her dreams of purity are shattered on one brutal night in which she is raped and forever disfigured. Innocence lost, Josefina loses all hope in her life. In her sorrow, something sinister stirs within her psyche, something with an insatiable thirst for revenge. Mentally battered, Josefina begins to lose control of her mind, unable to stop the darkness that lies within all of us. Add this with a courageous young wife and mother who takes on a judicial crime family guilty of framing her spouse for the rape and disfigurement of a vengeful Josefina. Selflessly, she willingly risks her self respect and life to prove her husbund's innocence and to bring his accusers to justice. A wondrous web of truth and deceit is spun, leading up to the irreversible repercussions of revenge. A complex, thought provoking tale with a generous share of surprising twists can be found within this astounding read. Woven within the story are believable, sympathetic characters, attention grabbing conflicts, and plenty of insight regarding human nature. For those who not only search for a good read, but also seek true life revelations, look no further. In my sincerest of judgements, The Paradise of Revenge is a must read.
A Fascinating and Shocking Expose of the Justice System.......2007-03-22
"The Paradise of Revenge", by Richard Lee Orey is both fascinating and shocking inasmuch as the plot revolves around the worst kind of corruption known to decent citizens: a corrupt justice system.
The prologue grabs the reader's interest by introducing the despicable travesty of justice as seen through the eyes, thoughts, and dialogue of the evil-minded and hated antagonists. It creates a mood that prepares the reader for the horrible, traumatic, premeditated assault on an innocent young woman, in which the perpetrators of that assault later frame a decent unsuspecting family man for the crime. The man's wife, wanting to find a way to free her innocent husband from prison, gets caught up in a terrible scheme, perpetrated by the crime organization, which turns her into a prostitute.
The young rape victim of the violent assault suffers immensely, and eventually marries a man who offers her hope until the marriage turns sour. Deep inside her is such a strong need for revenge, she becomes two personalities that are marked by good and evil. The contrast describes the decent man's eternal struggle to choose good over evil and how experiences and emotions can lead to wrong choices--which in this instance, the victim's choice of committing a terrible wrong on another innocent victim, the son of her accused rapist.
Mr. Orey is a master of words, and his use and control of the English language is no less than extraordinary. His ability to describe people and places is superb, and many descriptions rang of poetic merit.
After reading "The Paradise of Revenge", I must state that the book is not for the faint-hearted or for anyone who is opposed to graphic sex. Greed and lust are at the core of the plot that centers on an organization of people within the justice system who trump up criminal charges against innocent men in order to coerce their wives into joining a lewd Prison Widows Club. The women are blackmailed into working as prostitutes; thereby filling the pockets of the crime family running the organization. In order to exemplify the overall purpose and effect of the crime organization, and the degradation felt by the victim and the coerced women, Mr. Orey consistently writes explicit sexual scenes throughout the book.
The suspense is ripe and the reader's interest peaked with the actions of all the characters, according to how they relate to each other. The resolution was handled extremely cleverly, and the introduction of McKinley Clearwater, a man of moral strength and fortitude, indirectly impacts the lives of the main characters by effecting a surprise resolution and redemption.
All in all, Mr. Orey has written a very interesting story that probably is a spin-off from incidents that actually happened during his twenty-six years in the courtroom as an official court reporter. For anyone who believes that our justice system is inviolate, "The Paradise of Revenge" will serve as a wake-up call to the fact that evil can rear its ugly head most anywhere that man resides.
Love, sex, psychosis and faith........2006-12-22
When young Josefina seeks only God-sent love, we're given a graphic "I'm
there" set up and expose' of the trauma suffered by victims of physical and emotional sexual abuse. In reading this story with the backdrop of organized crime, I experienced violence, romance, sex and loving from radically different viewpoints--the physical and mental torment of the raped virgin, the anguish of the forced prostitute, and the paralyzing fear and humiliation of a seduced young teenage boy. The Paradise of Revenge is really an epic and complex love story with lots of twists and turns and steemy adult scenes which intensify the storyline. In the dramatic conclusion, the evildoers are brought to justice and dear Josefina finds her God-sent love. Guess who? This is a Don't-put-it-down page turner, a story that really struck home with me. This book is not for the immature or timid reader, but I loved it. A real eye-opener! I can't wait to read it again.

Book Description
This lavishly illustrated text represents the publication of a theory of biological self-organization based on the discovery of a unique geometric configuration with the property to generate the shape of all animal and plant form.
The theory of biological self-organization maintains that body form results from patterns arising in living tissue due to simple mechanical forces rather than by genomic code; the genes are responsible only for individual traits.

Classic crackpot stuff.......2007-08-31
The author can't seem to defend his err "scientific" idea in the venue of science so he's taken to launching lawsuits to silence critics. This will comfort the Christian soul troubled that real satan-worshiping scientists just keep on producing real stuff that cures and improves lives while ID types write web pages and letters to the editor. "Ohhh look, Ethyl, this book says DNA and was written by a godly man! Boy!"
Anyway, classic crackpot stuff.
Complete nonsense.......2007-08-30
Apparently this crackpot failed high school biology, but let's make sure that doesn't stop him from writing a book and then suing a REAL biologist who also refers to Pivar as a crackpot. Every single concept in this book is readily falsified by...wait for it...EVIDENCE! Do yourself a favor and read the works of people who are not crackpots. Biology and evolution are amazing scientific venues, read up and inform yourself about them. Ignore the ramblings in this stupid tome.
Oh, btw, Pivar withdrew that frivolous lawsuit after Mr. Irons, legal counsel for PZ Myers (the evil biologist!), summarily destroyed the nonsensical legal action. Mark one down for the good guys.
Class junk science.......2007-08-29
I haven't read this book and I don't intend to, the only reason I've even heard of it is because the author proved his idiocy when he tried to sue a professional biologist for giving his nonsense a bad review. Apparently a large part of his argument in this book is that Stephen Jay Gould disagreed with the main body of evolutionary biology, which isn't true. In short this appears to be yet more anti-evolution lies and misrepresentation from an intellectually dishonest failure of a "scientist".
This is what happens when you have acess to a word processor and a large amount of LSD.......2007-08-28
Wow, people can actually just write down any sort of rubbish, claim it to be scientific, and sell the result on Amazon for an incredibly inflated price, AND have the ability to sue anyone who writes a negative opinion?
Does anyone know any contact information from the author? I'm keenly interested in knowing where he buys his hashish.
Not good science, or good science fiction.......2007-08-28
After a brief reading of this book, I feel that it should be pointed out that the author has succeeded beyond my highest expectations in putting words into print.
Nothing more, though. I don't believe this work would hold up to the most cursory of peer review, and suspect the author will fail at legal review, as well.

Book Description
The book, a study of policymaking for conservation in Latin America, employs comparative analysis to explain the policy process in three countries--Argentina, Chile, and Costa Rica. Case studies and examples of important policy decisions made in the three countries are employed to help illuminate variations in the policy process from country to country. The analysis is set against the constant conflict between demands for economic development and conservation. Hopkins has selected important examples of policy problems in the areas of conservation, national parks, and environmental protection in the three countries and set these against the political system in each country for comparison. The cases range from the controversial issue of Lago Chungara in Chile to Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica to the Yacyreta hydroelectric project in Argentina. The study aims at beginning to fill an important gap in the literature on national parks, conservation, and environmental protection in Latin America. As such, the volume will be of interest to students of contemporary Latin America, policymaking, and environmental studies.

Jack has hit the most crucial aspects of LA conservation.......1998-09-23
Deftly researched and eloquently written.... I'm extremely impressed with Dr. Hopkin's analysis of the situation in Latin America's parks, reserves and overall environment. A must buy for anyone remotely interested in conservation south of the U.S.- Mexico border.
