Difficult to play, but fun to have!.......2003-06-21

You don't need to play the piano to enjoy this book. With 8 pages of picture, it's pretty enjoyable. Plus it has the lyrics, and the different stage ending for "cell Block Tango".

AMAZING!!! THE BEST YET!!!.......2003-06-13

I have the Broadway Vocal Selections, and that was just fabulous, but this one is by far my favorite. Kander and Ebb (Cabaret) are the kings of Broadway. And this one has my favorite Chicago song, "Cell Block Tango" which i loved on stage and loved even more on screen. These songs are the best, and I hope broadway shows get better and better, because in my opinion, these two gentlemen have set the bar...and it is high!!

Chicago: A Musical Vaudeville.......2003-05-18

The script behind the smash hit broadway show "CHICAGO!". Complete with original cast list, synopsis at the beggining, characters and descriptions, and lyrics/libretto included in the text of the show. A wonderful play that wraps you in the wrath of two young women, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, in a murder scaldal trying to escape with the help of sleezey lawyer, Billy Flynn. A great read and fantastic musical. Availabily my be difficult as it is out of print (I bought it used) so you can buy it from the publiser, Samuel French online from the website by the same name (samuelfrench.com) Thanks for reading!

The notes are accurate, except that if you haven't listened to the recording, you may not know that most of Roxy's songs are supposed to be sung down an octave. This is not written anywhere in the book, however.

Great, But a few Wrong Notes.......2004-01-18

I absolutely adore the music of Chicago, and was so glad that I was able to find the sheet music for the musical (especially Mary Sunshine's "A Little Bit Of Good" since it wasn't in the movie). However, I was disappointed to find a few notes that weren't quite right. Just a few flats that weren't put in, but still, it's almost as if they didn't even think to play the songs before the published the book. In addition, Funny Honey has the full first half of the song, but the second half (when Roxie isn't so happy with her husband) isn't included. Also, Billy Flynn's song, "All I Care About" is a little tricky to play in 12/8 time. Over all, a great book, but not quite perfect.

I'm a regular Bob Fosse Fan. I believe everything he touches turns to gold, so this definetly is golden. The music pieces are one of a kind..."Nowadays", "Foxy Roxy", ..."All That Jazz". If you are looking for A vocal selection to sing for any reason, this has a WIDE variety of songs for Men And Women. It'll "Razzle Dazzle" YOU . . .

The Book Of One Of Broadway's Best.......2000-10-05

Kander and Ebb, who wrote the lyrics and music to this as well as Cabaret, Steel Pier and many others, are two of the most talented in the profession. Chicago is my second favorite muscial, losing out to Kander and Ebb's dramatic work Cabaret. Chicago is the darkest, funniest musical. The lyrics are cynical and the music is catchy. Particularly good is the song sung by the character Mary Sunshine called "A Little Bit Of Good" which is the only optimistic song in the score and is very much so, being so sacchrine that it's funny. Another favorite of mine is "Mr. Cellophane," which, when sung right, can be hilarious and, when cohreographed correctly, is even moreso. The score is perfect in my mind. "And that's good, isn't it great, isn't it fun..." it sure is.

It's a big book but it can be bigger. Some sections are too small, like cels and others. It is still very good guide and full of high quality pictures. Introduction is great! If you are a Simpsons collector then you have to own this.

A virtual smorgasbord of Simpson memorabilia........1999-03-21

If there is anything that has been released about "The Simpsons" it is safe to say it can be found here. Getz takes an in-depth look at merchandise from the earliest days of the show to the more recent items. Particularly useful are his sections on "The Simpsons" comic books and trading cards. However, other areas are not neglected. If you have always wanted to see "Simpsons" items from around the world then here is your opportunity. This is a much needed book well worth its price.

What a great book! Robert used pictures and prose to capture the spirit of Simpson collecting. Although I have a lot of the items he featured in his book, the ones I don't have I want even more! It is worth a slow and careful read, over and over again.

I stopped by a local bookstore and finally found the Unauthorized Guide to Simpsons Collectables. I found it to be packed with fun product information, beautiful, sharp color photographs throughout and just plain fun to read! If you love the Simpsons and/or collecting, you'll love this book! I fully recommend it!

I have for a couple of months tried get the product Sound Advice on Compressors, Limiters, Expanders, & Gates (Instantpro Series)
by Bill A. Gibson. Everytime I order it you send med EQ, Reverb and Delays from the same series. I now have 3 copies of that, but still none of Sound Advice on Compressors, Limiters, Expanders, & Gates.
As soon as you send med the right book I will be able to review it.

'Limited' information, even for a small book like this.......2005-08-20

I always start reading 'tutorial' books by examining the table of contents. This looked promising. But An hour and a half or so later I finished the last page feeling disappointed. Expanders and Gates are mentioned only briefly, while the rest of the book deals with compressors and limiters. What can you tell? Most of the material is repeated 4 times or more. I think this whole book could easiliy be rewritten in 40 pages. As for the CD examples: some are helpfull, but they are most of the time not very convincing.

Written for the small-unit combat leader, Col. Malone's no-nonsense reviews of what inspires and motivates individuals within units, as well as his easy-to-use 4-part typology and checklists for how to deal with individuals and units, are highly-recommended. This will definitely hold a treasured spot on my leadership bookshelf for years to come.

This is great once you get past the stories.......2007-04-18

The author had a really good opportunity to write a fantastic book-- there are stories about delegation in there that opened my eyes to new possibilities in employee development and the unique relationship between the strategic level (management) and the tactical level (supervisors/NCOs).

Where the book fails are the war stories. The author makes liberal use of war stories in his material that are marginally on topic but I feel do not address the issue of small unit leadership. If anything, the war stories discuss the effects of NCO's and CO's doing NCO work; it doesn't state how to lead either from the position of a Colonel (which I would think equivalent of a VP/GM) or explicitly state his goals for his NCO's (supervisors). I honestly ended up skimming through the first half of the book looking for something useful-- eventually the author does get to the point and the book begins to expand on his thesis; I found the fluff annoying. I personally wouldn't have bought the book alone; I ended up purchasing it as a group deal with the Three Meter Zone.

That having been said the book goes over some very interesting points in how to develop NCO's and team leads; it also goes into the psychology of group mentality briefly and there are some very good insights to be had there.

Now that I've gotten the base information from the book it's sitting in a corner of my bookshelf-- I might pick it up again if I need to correlate information with the Three Meter Zone. This book unfortunately doesn't stand by itself as a good business model-- though realistically, the author hadn't intended this so I can't fault him for it.

Gets to the point.......2007-01-22

A tiny, little book - but packs alot in there. This little book clearly conveys its messages via very easily understandable examples. Sometimes it is a bit too combat-centric, but for the most part, is applicable to most leadership roles.

Great For Non-Military Leaders, Too .......2007-01-18

I was an NYPD supervisor (Sergeant and Lieutenant)and found this book very helpful. Even if you *aren't* in a military or law enforcement organization, this book can help you. It talks about leadership and personnel management issues that apply to *every* supervisor or leader in *every* business or profession. For example, Malone breaks down personnel into 4 categories:

*Willing and able - Tell this person what to do, and when you want it done by, and leave them alone.

*Willing but UN-able (such as the "new guy") - Help this person with training and coaching to do what you want done.

*Able but unwilling (the classic shirker)- Needs motivation and supervision to get the job done.

*Unable and unwilling - ideally, would not be in your organization, but if you are stuck with them, need training, motivation, and supervision to learn what they have to do, and then get it done.

(Obviously, if a poor perfomer had personal problems of some kind, their supervisor would have to address those appropriately.)

Malone's explanation of these categories alone is worth the price of this book.

Another great leadership book: "Top Performance" by Zig Ziglar. He's a sales trainer, but really understands the core of leadership and teaching. Easy to read (I got it on audio tape), and well worth your while.

Bridges Historical Gap.......2000-03-07

In this book, the author sets out to provide a basis for the better understanding of a culture of people that have greatly shaped Southern California. Camarillo provides a history of the Mexican experience in Santa Barbara and other southern California cities. He begins with the US annexation of California in 1848 and ends in 1930 with the deportation or "repatriation" of Mexican immigrants. Camarillo explores many aspects of the Californio and the immigrant settler and includes information on political, racial and economical issues. This book truly provides excellent information and helps fill the gap in the one sided American history that we were taught in school. This book is great for anyone who wants to learn about the early history of Mexicans in America and for Chicanos who are building a self-identity. I am now encouraged to read other works of this kind to further my knowledge of this subject.

Great book for reptile lovers of all ages........2004-06-23

Even though this book is intended for young adults, it is well written in that adults too will enjoy reading it. This book covers basic history, anatomy, defense mechanisms, predators, and life cycle of reptiles. It also includes a section about conservation and human threats to reptiles. It is an easy read for adults but not boring. There are many photos and illustrations in every section. The photos are detailed and eye catching. This is an excellent book for children who are interested in reptiles. If you are a fan of Mark O'Shea and his documentaries, then this is a must have for your reptile book collection.

A great tale of trying to find a haystack in a needle !.......1998-06-12

well, not quite a needle....actually a national park in Nepal, but the tracking of the largest Asian elephant ( 11 feet at the shoulder, 22 " foot diameter ) in order to document its existence, and in so doing hopefully ensure its safety by giving it a 'national identity' did not prove an easy task ! An excellent read .. couldn't put the book down !
