The fourth edition of Slee's Health Care Terms is an outstanding reference. Health care has become too complex to live without this book on your office shelf. It provides thousands of clean and crisp definitions, each carefully constructed to get right to the point. Written by a physician and two attorneys, this comprehensive book is an essential desk reference for physicians, health care managers, nurses, and students.

I could not stop reading this book once I started. This book took all the little quirks of men and women, along with how our relationships work, and made fun of them all. It trully shows how silly people can act and how those little things that you do, that we make such a big deal about, are really very trivial, but very funny if you sit back and think about it.

I would recomend this book to anyone that likes to laugh.

I have to be honest, I work in the radio business and received a copy of Dr. Rock's Kick Ass Therapy as a promotional item from the author, but I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I immediately bought 2 copies for friends, and will probably buy a couple more as gifts.
This book completely succeeds in making people like Dr. Phil and Dr. Laura seem too full of themselves, and Dr. Rock's brand of therapy not only made me laugh out loud (which is ...hard to do in print), but also makes a ... of a lot of sense. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels the need to laugh their...off, or anyone who needs some pretty good advice on marriage, families, or the workplace. The Wizard of Oz analogy is absolutely brilliant! I hope the word spreads on this little book, so Dr. Rock can keep dispensing "therapy" for all of us ... for years to come.

This book is terrible..........2006-04-28

Not only is this book full of typos, its full of blatantly false information, most notable is the assertion that Neil stopped playing "Hey Hey My My" after Kurt Cobain quoted it in suicide note. I have personally seen him play that song at least 5 times since then and before this book was published. I have also read several interviews in which Neil dicounted the stories that he stopped playing it. There are numerous other errors that any serious Neil fan would clearly pick up on. Did the author do any research? Or did he just write on what he thought his personal knowledge was.

Secondly, alot of the stories or assertions behind the meanings of songs, seem to be just speculation, such as perhaps it means this or perhaps it means this. It would be better if the author actually delved into the circumstances under which the song was written.

I also don't like the clear personal bias and thoughts from the author. Instead of reading like a volume of information it reads like one mans opinions of the quality and meanings of Neil Young songs.

If it weren't for the full colour glossy photos (which someone else pointed out are sometimes reversed showing Neil playing guitar left handed!) this book wouldnt be worth the 3.99 I paid for it from the bargain bin at my local bookstore.

Just Okay.......2004-07-02

First of all, did anyone proof read this book? There are typos on almost every page. Also, a thesaurus would have come in handy. If I had to read the words "Canon" or "Pastiche" one more time I would have had to gouge my eyes out. Also, the pictures are inverted, showing Neil and others playing guitar left handed. The information in this book is interesting, but it's all rehashed from other sources. Skip this one and buy "Shakey".

Some personal bias, but otherwise a great book.......2003-08-13

I give this book four stars instead of five because the author tends to write off entire albums as [bad] not bother giving the songs adequate review space, especially "Re-Ac-Tor" and "Hawks and Doves," which I think are two of Young's best albums. In fact, the author doesn't like much of anything Young did in the 80s, except "This Note's For You," and this is largely due to his own personal biases (sp?) against the content and genres of the albums. Other than that, this is a adequately insightful book about Neil Young's songs, and I do enjoy it. Anyone who's interested in how his songs came to be written should get this book without hesitation; just be prepared for some of your favorite albums to take a beating.

SAY HEY TO GOOBER.......2005-02-07

this was a very good book. it has a lot of info on george and his life on and off tv. i just wish it had a little more about his life on the andy griffith show. but all and all you can't go wrong with this book. i met george about 10 years ago and he is a vey nice person and very down to earth. good job george i did enjoy the book.

George Lindsey tells it like it is, baby!.......2003-04-18

This is the fourth book I have read on the subject of The Andy Griffith Show... Mr George Lindsey portrayed the character of "Goober" on this show and it's spin-off Mayberry RFD, and also on Hee-Haw. Not many people know that Mr. Lindsey was a student at the American Theatre Wing, attending on the GI Bill, and was trained in the Stanislavski Method of acting. His life story in this book is at once compelling and inspiring, for he truly is a student from the "school of hard knocks". Anyone wanting to know what it was like for a struggling actor starting out in the 50's trying to break into show business, and all the ups and downs of fame that comes with an actor's life, will be fascinated. He tells us in detail about all the people he has known, and experiences--both good and bad, with warmth and a sly sense of humor! He tells some crazy stories about himself that may raise a few eyebrows, but his candor is refreshingly honest in this day and age. I now have a new respect for Mr. Lindsey, and his often misunderstood character, the loveable Goober Pyle. You will too after reading this book!

Goober Rules!! Great Book!!Should Be on Video!!.......2002-09-23

Besides of this book having alot of factual data about the reknowned"Andy Griffith Show"and "HEE HAW" .There's also imformation about George Lindsey who portrayed Goober on that show who wasn't quite as popular as Barney Fife but when Don Knott's left the show,I think Goober(George Lindsey)contributed greatly to help keep the show popular until the series ended.Both Andy Griffith and Don Knotts have video biographies about their life and rich careers.I would like to see in the future that both superb actors George Lindsey(Goober) and Jim Nabors(Gomer) will someday deservingly have video biographies.Also Jim Nabors(also from Alabama) needs to write an autobiography about him and his rich career without all the dirt and sensationalism!!It's been long overdue!!We're all anxiously waiting!!

Highly Entertaining.......2001-04-05

A long-time admirer of George Lindsey the actor, I am now also an admirer of Mr. Lindsey as an author and, more importantly, as a fine human being. Although some of the details of his early life were quite sad, this story is an affirmation of the value of determination, hard work, and talent. Once the reader has started, it is hard to stop. The narrative flows nicely, and provides the reader with a wealth of interesting information and insights from a man who has made generations laugh. Thank you, Mr. Lindsey - Well done!

He's not such a Goober.......2000-07-27

George has come forth and given fans the details they crave, the stories we hoped to read, and an even closer look at celebrity told by someone who seemed to handle it better than most.

As a fan of almost any sitcom star book I can find, this one took me a while to purchase. After all, it was Goober. After a chapter or two I was reading full speed to the end. Not only was it entertaining and informational but I learned things. Always the hallmark of a good book.

I have new respect for George Lindsey.

The "normal person's" PC book.......2006-02-27

If you are tired of all the PC how-to books that can't write a sentance in English, this is the book for you. Easy to follow with screenshots from the PC itself, this a guide even my mom can follow. It covers the basics of owning a computer from Windows 98 and SE, ME, and XP. How to keep them in tune and how to save some money doing it with free programs that are available online. What to take some of the mystery of the beige (black, grey, whatever) box on the desk, The Healthy PC will go long ways towards that end.

Best book for computer users.......2005-11-04

The first time I sat down with this book, I couldn't stop. I'm not a PC guru, nor am I a "tin horn." I think anyone who uses a computer from power users to novices will find it one of the most practical, easy to understand texts you'll find.

I also "googled" his name and found his website CareyHolzman.com. What a treasure trove of advice and help.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to use a computer or increase the knowledge they already have.

I absolutely love this book!!! I read about it here on Amazon and ordered it right away. I have been reading through it and using it on my computer for the past three hours... I can't put it down!!! My computer already seems more reliable, and I fixed little problems that I wasn't sure how to (i.e. The annoying send error file reports).
One of the great things about this was how explanatory it was... Although I knew what a lot of computer jargon means, I understood it after reading this book.
I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone looking to take care of their computer!

As clear as every computer book should be.......2004-07-10

When you work or deal with young people, talking about computers
is a big challenge and most of the times you feel like a "dummie or an idiot". This forces you to run to Barnes & Noble or the local Library to end up more confused and frustrated not knowing which book to pick.
"The Healthy PC" is not as tedious as other computer books,
on the contrary once you start reading you will not stop, and if you follow the steps Carey recommends you'll feel very comfortable.
This is a great book, to bad he does not have any publications about hardware, but I understand his next book will be about "networking" available next year, I can't wait to buy it.

Mcraven's research into the missions detailed in the book is incredible. I read and reread the introduction and first chapters over and over again. It was such an incredible, point by point analysis of what it takes to make a successful special operations mission. I appreciated the writing style, but it is not light reading. Very thorough, very interesting. Great book.

Admiral McRaven USN enjoys the credibility not shared by many to comment on the secretive world of special operations (SPCOPS).

SPEC OPS illustrates with well-researched and analyzed case scenarios the incredible dedication of various commando operations. It is immediately obvious that the author has "been there and done that." Additionally, and possibly more importantly, he achieves a synergistic effect by combining the traditionally polar disciplines of academics and practical applications into a total work that is truly greater than the sum of its individual parts.

This is a book that I've read more than once and learn something new each time.

For those involved in or studying military affairs read it ...pay attention.

Excellent Primer For Special Ops Studies.......2007-01-01

McRaven's breakdown of special operations theory (or "direct action theory," for those applying these principles for light infantry purposes) is succinct, honest, and practical. Whereas others in the craft often feel the need to mythologize spec ops practices, Mcraven's account is completely candid and methodical. Drawing on case studies from WW2 onward, he makes a good, round examination of how and why spec ops missions succeed or fail.

Simplicity in planning, security in preparing, repetition in training, and surprise, speed, and purpose in execution make for relative superiority: the strength in small numbers. The author's rational formula for examining these factors is crucial, making a science of what many would have you believe is simply "shooting from the hip."

Given the challenges facing the average infantryman in Iraq and Afghanistan, often forced to enter citadels of rubble in small units, this book could be equally well-applied to light infantry action. If you're an NCO on your way to Tikrit, you may want to grab yourself a copy for the plane ride over. (Couple it with a copy of Poole's "The Tiger's Way" while you're at it.)

But all the information I gather was not complete.
Especially those Ops for 20-30 years.

But this book really makes a difference.
Every detail of the Op that you want to know was in it.

Absolute rocker in explaining the theory of Spec Ops........2002-05-16

I found it really useful in understanding the matters combined in Special operations. The theory which is also described in the doctrine of Spec. Ops. is here illustrated and explained in a less complicated way by using case studies. These case studies are randomly but carefully chosen by size, force, time, space, backgrounds of the participants, field of expertise and the end results. This way McRaven was able to prove his 6 basic principles of Special Operations, Speed, Security, Repetion, Surprise, Speed and Purpose. Succesfull execution of a special operation does not depend on ones field of expertise. It is more dependent on preparation, plannning, physical/ mental/ strategic training and capabilities of the executing group of determand people as discribed in the 6 basics by McRaven. Therefore I recommend this book to everyone who wants to understand these principles which are practised not only by Special Forces but also by Regular Armed Forces.
