this book is a plesent suprise each page contains an postcard sent to ringo by one or more of the beatles.along with each card comes a comentary on the card such as time,place,background.this is a whole different way to see the beatles back in the past.a history lesson if you will.

This is a valuable piece of Beatle literature that provided me with some really nice new nuggets of information and understanding, and I feel grateful to Ringo for sharing not only the postcards, but his observations on them. Even the choice of pictures on the cards tells you things about the characters of George, John and Paul.
In all, a real contribution for Beatle nuts who hunger for a little more sense of what the guys are/were "really like."

I wasn't that happy with the book. Seeing the personal post cards the Beatles sent to each other over the years seemed like a good concept. I guess it looked better on paper than reality. For one thing, there aren't many postcards.Two: They are just the average postcards anybody gets when someone travels, except more boring. Nothing more than "having fun, see you soon". That's about the whole lot of them. Each postcard has a one or two line Ringo quip about it. Sometimes they're interesting, mostly not. The only good thing about it is the fact that it was only $10.00 and some or all of the profits go to charity. Even a die hard Beatle fan won't find much to love about this book.

This small text is great for beginners in GIS software and also for teaching students grades K-12. However, it took me over a month to get the books, so if you need them quickly, plan in advance.

More of a fictional title.......2006-08-12

I'll keep this short. I was contracted to draft the images in this book, for reproduction. The AutoCAD layout was not looking like the machinist drawings in the book (I used the books' dimensions). So I scaled the drawings in the book (as directed in the text). Then I took the dimensions from those parts. Way off. I can only assume that the dimensions (on every drawing) are intentionally wrong. Or the machinist templates (again, every drawing) are intentionally wrong. If this is a reference manual, then maybe the men in black have altered the contents of the pages so we may not have the information. Or maybe this book is just fiction. I realize this information should not be used to construct these parts. Still, the information should be acurate. Freedom of speech and of knowledge.

This book is an excellent starting point. It provides you with all of the neccessary theories and some basic laymans blueprints. If you plan to convert your 1022 then make sure you have a CADD program to put the blueprints through. Most of the blueprints contain mathmatical or dimensional impossibilities. If you have any basic blueprint knowledge you should be able to work through them. Overall a good book to purchase.

It's been about two years since taking Anatomy & Physiology, and this book served as a nice review of the human body's systems & functions. Isaac Asimov communicates so well, so clearly through-out this book, describing processes in a language that the reader can't help but understand. The author's expansive knowledge (genius, really) brings a context to each topic-- or several contexts-- such as comparative anatomy, the evolutionary context, disease -- Asimov speaks eloquently from all these perspectives, and his complete picture of the human body is awe-inspiring. I am now about to pick up his companion book, The Human Brain: Its Capacities & Functions.

Loved it, hated it!.......2003-07-23

It is so hard not to simultaneously both love and dislike this book. Love, because the natural history is beautifully limned and Hume has gift for apt phrasings that take you right out on the edge of this beautiful river (which, I should say proudly, I once lived beside). Former local doctor and naturalist, Harvey Thommasen has contributed his peerless knowledge and stream-wisdom about the Bella Coola's fauna and flora all the way through. The chronological following of the Aboriginal yearly cycle adds to the feel Hume creates.

But, and it is a big and, for me, distracting "but", there is a lot of preachiness even egotistical meanness in the way that Hume looks at those of less finer sensibilities who actually - sin of sins! - keep their catch. Only so much of this holier-than-thou proselytization and one loses the lyricism!

Hume's accounts of his own flyfishing prowess, catching a big salmon almost every cast and of course, because he is so ecologically enlightened, letting it go rather than frying it up like you or I might do, gets really tiresome. Not very far beneath the surface respect for the Nuxalk Indians whose lore gives the book its structure, runs a vein of intolerance for the tribe and for others who do not share his quasi-religous awe for steelhead etc.

So? By all means buy it but unless you are yourself one of those saintly fly-casters be prepared to grit your teeth more than a few times!

The seasons of the Bella Coola.......2003-03-19

In a book that carries the reader from deeply moving and poetic insights of BC's coastal natural phenomena, to alarming and occasionaly scathing analyses of resource management practices, Hume relates an incredibly intimate knowledge of the ecology and people of a very rich landscape. It may have been tempting for Hume to slip into a ranting diatribe of the regretable past policies which have scarred this beautiful place, but instead he describes to the reader the natural wonders of the Bella Coola valley along with the legends of the First Nations people that have inhabited the area. Hume's knowledge is vast and he can easily hold your interest on whatever subject takes his fancy. Highly recomended.
