This course is the fastest and best way to learn Inventor. I've been contemplating the move from AutoCAD to Inventor, but I didn't have the time to learn it. I had no idea that Autodesk has training like this for Inventor. I've only been working with it for a week and I'm ready to make the transition! Way to go TEDCF!

In this paper we report estimates of the risk premium for the pound sterling exchange rates vis-a-vis the Australian dollar, the Canadian dollar, a synthetic Euro, the Japanese yen and the US dollar over a monthly 1987-2001 sample, generated using a conditional factor model for the stochastic discount factor of a representative 'worldwide' investor. The model relates this stochastic discount factor to the real return on a 'worldwide' stock portfolio as well as the growth rate in 'worldwide' industrial production, with the model parameters varying with variations in both the slope of the 'world' term structure of interest rates and the price/earnings ratio that corresponds with the 'worldwide' stock portfolio. Econometric tests indicate that this model is accepted by the data. The corresponding parameter estimates are used to compute the risk premium for the five aforementioned sterling exchange rates. Although the estimated risk premia exhibit realistic time series dynamics, we show that only in the case of the sterling/yen exchange it can explain the observed deviations from uncovered interest rate parity over our sample period.

This is a treasure trove of classic and modern readings which are brilliantly selected and edited. Professor Stephen Hicks' book is more than a book about legal philosophy or jurisdprudence. He uses explanations about law and the evolution of legal systems to explain social transformation. This is a book that provides a practical as well as theoretical orientation to problems in modern legal systems. Professor Hicks develops materials which would be quite useful to the practitioner. Professor Hicks' begins the book with the question, "What is law?' The reader is invited to explore classical definitions of law and to compare their definition with ancient, classical, medieval, modern and post-modern definitions. In this age of information, it is increasingly important not to be "maroonm ourselves in the present." (xv). Professor Hicks' book would be useful for adoption in courses in modern legal theory, legal philosophy or jurisprudence. It would also be a useful text in the fields of sociology of law, philosophy of law, and legal studies at the undergraduate and graduate level. However, I think that Professor Hicks is right in that it is necessary for every lawyer to come to grips with the issues examined in this book. This is a a superb edited collection suitable for a law school course in legal philosophy or jurisprudence or a graduate course in the sociology of law. The materials draw from rich multi-disciplinary sources fromhistory, politics, sociology, philosophy and ethics. Professor Hicks does a masterful job in addressing the issue of what is law from Justinian to post-modern theories. One of the best chapters in the book look at the crisis in law. Other chapters are on the crisis in legal education, modernity and legal theory, society, morality and content, the force of law, justice and the rule of law and judging, justification and legal reason. Professor Hicks also covers the problem of the basis of law, punishment, law and technology, gender and the law, the evolution of law, community, politics and the individual, as well as radical critiques of law. Each chapter is introduced and closed with bibliographic essays and pointed questions to lead the discussion.

PERSONAL IDEAS+COLLECTED WORKS.......2006-01-27

This book is a huge disappointment!
You would think that with all these pages, this would be a great book. Wrong. It is filled with the writers own formulas that look like they were photocopied from his own personal notebook! The other material is simply a collection of readily available info elsewhere, like info on ELECTROGRAVITY and T.Townsend Brown. I found about 15 pages worth anything-the rest is just the clever compiling of already known info from other sources! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I really enjoy Shanna Swendson's writing. And the plot of the book is fantastic, literally and figuratively. In Katie's new job, she has been tasked with finding the spy/traitor within the company. Along the way, her own safety is threatened. The fun part is when her parents go to New York to visit her and she finds out that her Mother has the same ability as she does, to see magic.

The suspense with Owen, powerful wizard, is getting painful. All of his blushing and not coming right out to show interest in Katie drove me nuts.

Another I-can't-put-it-down installment.......2007-05-10

I'm glad that this series from Shanna Swendson is proving to be solid. I was very pleased to have another book I couldn't put down. Katie Chandler is deep into her work as MSI. Unfortunatly, company secrets at leaking out, leading to the assumption that a spy has either infiltrated the company, or one of their own loyal employees has turned against them. Katie's special talents will help to solve the puzzle, unless that traitor can get to her first.

The book was a good continuation from the first one, but the relationship between the main character and the man she liked was just not convincing. I don't want to give away any details, but I like a relationship in the books I read to progress throughout the book, but the one in this book was just sort of thrown into the end.

Enchanted, Inc. and Once Upon Stilettos weave an intricate and inventive story of magic, heroes and the battle of good versus evil. I love Shanna Swendson's take on Merlin and Arthur. This is a must read for anyone who wants to believe in magic and the power the most ordinary person. I have recommended this series to everyone I can think of!

Also, check out Shanna Swendson's website, her daily blog is always entertaining. According to the website, there will be five books in this series. I cannot wait for Damsel Under Stress coming May 1, 2007. Read the first two now so you can be ready for "Damsel"!

A few days before the first Christmas of that long bloodletting then called the Great War, hundreds of thousands of cold, trench-bound combatants put aside their arms and, in defiance of their orders, tacitly agreed to stop the killing in honor of the holiday.

That informal truce began with small acts: here opposing Scottish and German troops would toss newspapers, ration tins, and friendly remarks across the lines; there ambulance parties, clearing the dead from the barbwire hell of no man's land, would stop to share cigarettes and handshakes. Soon it spread, so that by Christmas Eve the armies of France, England, and Germany were serenading each other with Christmas carols and sentimental ballads and denouncing the conflict with cries of "Á bas la guerre!" and "Nie wieder Krieg!" The truce was, writes Stanley Weintraub, a remarkable episode, and, though "dismissed in official histories as an aberration of no consequence," it was so compelling that many who observed it wrote in near-disbelief to their families and hometown newspapers to report the extraordinary event.

In the end, writes Weintraub, the truce ended with a few stray bullets that escalated into total war, and that would fill the air for just shy of four more Christmases to come; further, isolated attempts at informal peacemaking would fail. But what, Weintraub wonders at the close of this inspired study, would have happened if the soldiers on both sides had refused to take up arms again? In the early months of World War I, on Christmas Eve, men on both sides of the trenches laid down their arms and joined in a spontaneous celebration. Despite orders to continue shooting, the unofficial truce spread across the front lines. Even the participants found what they were doing incredible: Germans placed candlelit Christmas trees on trench parapets, warring soldiers sang carols, and men on both sides shared food parcels from home. They climbed from the trenches to meet in "No Man's Land" where they buried the dead, exchanged gifts, ate and drank together, and even played soccer.

Throughout his narrative, Stanley Weintraub uses the stories of the men who were there, as well as their letters and diaries, to illuminate the fragile truce and bring to life this extraordinary moment in time.

This book gave me for the first a real understanding of the Christmas Truce in No Man's Land in 1914. To see details of the events from all sides was great. It made me wonder why they just went back to the killing after it.

Great Christmas read, not a great book........2006-01-03

The book does prove that it is politics and governments who want and pursue war, not the fighting men on the front. However, I thought the writing was dry and matter of fact given the great subject matter and should have been more inspired. The letters home that were used within the book clearly stole the show here, along with the story of Phillip Maddison's bicycle ride behind the enemy lines during the truce. I thought the best part of the book was the last "what if" chapter, where the author really let loose with some alternative history if the truce had led to a secession of hostilities. Also this book was turned into a movie this year in Europe, I believe it was a joint German, British, and French production. Fitting!

Should be a required reading for decision-makers in government, high-ranking military officials, or anyone else responsible for sending young men to die for a cause that is not theirs. . . .

Great story, but book is hard to follow.......2004-12-29

This is a great story for the holiday season and is a great anomaly in what was a horrible war of attrition. However, the book is more of a collection of thoughts rather than an oral history or an actual story. At times I couldn't tell which side I was reading about unless the names were totally obvious. Also it may be tougher to understand if you don't know the geography or the history of the WWI era and how it came to pass.

Boring, Disorganized, and Highly Repetitive.......2004-08-12

I have read over 40 books about World War I, and this is the worst book I've ever read on the subject. The book is boring, disorganized, and relentlessly pursues it pacifist agenda. The book is repititous ad nauseaum. In the author's attempt to convince his readers that the ordinary soldiers didn't want to fight, he presents a huge number of barely discernible short stories and excerpts throughout the book. The text is erratic and disorganized. This unconvincing book seems not like the work of a published author, but the work of a human psychology student's term paper. Much of the book simply consists of word-for-word extracts from other published media. Ignore the positive reviews on the back cover - it's clear these reviewers didn't read more than the first few pages. This book isn't worth the paper it's printed on!

Wonderful true story told by a comforting Walter Cronkite voice and heavenly Mormon Tabernacle Choir. This is one of the "regulars" that I read with my children each Christmas, illustrating that the power of the spirit of Christmas can disarm complete armies. A wonderful testament that Jesus Christ literally is the Prince of Peace.

It's amazing when you think that on any given day people who were killing each other would and could be friends under different circumstances. This story just shows the human potential for peace even under the worse conditions. War is always tragic but it shows that mankind has much more in common then it has differences. Pray for peace.

This is a terrific book that shows the juxtoposition of the horror's of war with the moving power of the Spirit of Christmas to bring enemies together. The book offers a great opportunity to discuss forgivness and brotherhood. It also shows true Christian behavior at its finest.

The tragedy of war........2003-12-02

The book is nicely done with pictures I think intended to soften the images of war, the dead soldiers, etc. I ordered the book to send to my children as my youngest is currently serving in Iraq. I found it too upsetting to read about the tragic loss of lives and it was not something I wanted my grandchildren, ages 1-12 to read. It is well done, but it was just too sad for me.

I ordered a copy of this book, it said it had map in the back, no map, I wrote and they sent another book, the other one does not have a map either, so if I am paying for a map, I want a map or a reduction of the price of the book,also I cannot find out how to return the 1st or 2nd book.

I ordered this book, based on the many references made to it in other publications. In terms of narrative content, it certainly lived up to my expectations, having more specific information on early Creek towns than anything else I had read. What is missing in this soft cover edition is a detailed map or maps, and that is terribly unfortunate in my case, since I needed it for reference. The listing on Amazon states that a map is included, which is not true and misleading for the buyer.
