Book Description

The bestselling author of Many Lives, Many Masters breaks new ground to reveal how progression therapy into future lives can help transform us in the present.

How often have you wished you could peer into the future? In Same Soul, Many Bodies, Brian L. Weiss, M.D., shows us how. Through envisioning our lives to come, we can influence their outcome and use this process to bring more joy and healing to our present lives. Dr. Weiss pioneered regression therapy -- guiding people through their past lives. Here, he goes beyond that to demonstrate the therapeutic benefits of progression therapy -- guiding people through the future in a scientific, responsible, healing way.

Through dozens of case histories detailing both past-life and future-life experiences, Dr. Weiss shows how the choices that we make now will determine our future quality of life. From Samantha, who overcame academic failure once she learned of her future as a great physician, to Evelyn, whose fears and prejudices ended after she envisioned prior and forthcoming lives as a hate victim, Dr. Weiss gives concrete examples of lives transformed by regression and progression therapy.

A groundbreaking work, Same Soul, Many Bodies is sure to deeply affect peoples' lives as they strive toward their future.

Download Description

"Noted psychiatrist Brian Weiss made headlines with his pioneering research on the healing power of past-life therapy in his million-copy bestseller, Many Lives, Many Masters. Now, in his astounding and groundbreaking new book, Dr. Weiss reveals how our future lives can actually transform us in the present. We all have lived past lives. We all will live future ones. What we do in this life will influence our lives to come as we evolve toward immortality. Dr. Weiss encourages this important recognition because recently he has not only regressed his patients into the past, but has progressed them into the future. And what they have discovered is that our futures are variable, so the choices we make now will determine the quality of life when we return. Using dozens of case histories, Dr. Weiss demonstrates the therapeutic benefits of progression, just as he has proved that journeys into our past lives can alleviate or cure our physical and emotional wounds in the present. Among the many patients who have benefited from the therapies are: Samantha, who overcame failures at school when she revisited her life as a Greek architect and later saw her future life as a great physician. Hugh, a psychic, tortured in the Middle Ages as a heretic, whose journey to the future brought him peace. Gary, whose glimpses into the future evaporated his depression and thoughts of suicide. Christina, whose past life and future memories enabled her to heal her relationship with her father and to finally find professional success and personal happiness. Evelyn, who, after reliving a past life as a Nazi officer and a future life as a teenage Arab girl, was able to release her fears and prejudices. Paul, whose love of Alison transcended past and future, transforming his current life and helping Alison to overcome a dangerous disease. Same Soul, Many Bodies is a revolutionary book, building on Dr. Weiss's discoveries about the past, a book that will take his millions of readers into an individual and collective future that they themselves will create. In the process, their present lives will be profoundly transformed, and they will find more peace, more joy, and more healing. "

5 out of 5 stars WOW!.......2007-08-09

He got it in one with this one. There is so much information in this one - pick a topic and he touches on it. And yet he wrote it in a manner like "Many Lives, Many Masters" as opposed to the almost textbook way he wrote "Through Time Into Healing" or others. It was too easy to read, even. I'm going to have to read it again.

You do not have to believe in reincarnation to get the messages out of this book. The book deals with love, compassion and empathy as core elements and I really think that those are universal messages everyone in the world can believe in.

I think this is the best book Weiss has written to date.

5 out of 5 stars Back to the Future.......2007-08-08

In his earlier works best selling author and psychotherapist Dr Brian Weiss describes how past life regression therapy became the focus of his psychiatric practice, having amassed a large body of clinical evidence to support this admittedly controversial healing modality by virtue of its ability to uncover "causal agents" linked to past life trauma. In "Same Soul, Many Bodies," Dr Weiss takes a giant leap into the realm of the extremely controversial by introducing his readers to a whole new concept called "future life progression" therapy.

Never one to shy away from an opportunity to break new ground, the good doctor suggests that using both of these techniques in tandem may well prove to be every therapists dream-come-true. While past life regression aims to heal by resolving trauma and conflict from the past, the objective of future life progression is more about inspiring and motivating patients to change the directions of their lives by revealing the potentialities awaiting them in future incarnations, if they can just make the right choices in the here-and-now.

It`s an exciting prospect to be sure. And while there's broad acceptance among today's metaphysical community of the concept that linear time is a construct unique to our current third-density reality, many will have difficulty accepting Dr Weiss's approach, given our habituation to linear thinking. Even followers of Michael Newton's works, which explore the planning activities that souls carry out in between lifetimes may have difficulty reconciling how one of Dr Weiss' patients might get to review a future incarnation before they die and return to the dimension where that next lifetime gets planned out. Admittedly, on the surface, it does seem like something of a paradox.

To resolve this conundrum we must remember that every time Dr Newton regresses a patient to the point "in between lives" where the planning for each individual incarnation seems to occur, this process is necessarily being viewed from our current dimensional perspective of linear time. If the ancients were correct to say that all physical incarnations actually exist in a single moment of eternity, thereby rendering linear time an illusion, then it must also follow that all those planning sessions between incarnations must also exist as a single timeless continuum.

Let me illustrate this concept in a way any teenager will understand. Imagine you're sitting at your PC about to play a video game. The game is a bunch of computer code sitting idly on your hard drive. From the point of view of the game, time does not exist, because the game is not yet running. Once you load the game into RAM images of movement begin displaying on the screen and the game begins keeping track of time until your character in the game gets killed. Then you restart the game, your character comes back to life, and time is once again invoked. But all the planning and programming of possible game outcomes that could ever play out on your screen were decided long ago by the game designers and programmers.

Unpleasant as some of our egos may find such a prospect, maybe we too are just video game characters running around in the grand daddy of all video games, and maybe those memories of us planning out our lives on Earth is just the Higher Self part of who we really are, doing their jobs beyond the realm of time.

Then again, with all the metaphysical talk these days of spiritual graduation, ascension, the harvest... call it what you will... many believe at least some of us may not be coming back for another encore, and frankly, that would suit me just fine. Having spent the last 25 years examining my own former lives as Nestorius -- the Bishop of Constantiople in 430 AD, Genghis Khan's nephew Yegu, and Field Marshall von Moltke -- Gemany's Chief of the General Staff at the outbreak of WW I, the details of which have all been recounted in my autobiography "The Vortex," I can't say I've seen much worth repeating. Which I guess accounts for my prevailing attitude of late, namely.... been there, done that.

This book was awesome!!! Brian Weiss has done it again. I read his first book, Many Masters, Many Lives and loved it too! I would read any book that he published! A must read if you believe!

5 out of 5 stars A MUST Read...For EVERYONE!.......2007-06-14

I didn't know what to expect when a friend told me I should read this book. Soon after the first chapter, though, I was hooked! Brian Weiss is a wonderful writer who has the gift of fluidity in language. I couldn't put this book down!

After reading Same Soul, Many Bodies, I ordered every other book by Weiss I could find in print. For me, much of the content within the pages of all his work was very validating. Ahhh, that's another story!

I have recommended Weiss' books to all of my friends who have lost someone they dearly loved. I've also introduced my teenage daughters to the magnificent messages of hope and love in these brilliant books. The information retrieved from the state of being one experiences between lives is something we all should read and commit to memory. In doing so, we will change our life and, eventually, change our world.

Please, read these books. Even if you're a complete skeptic!

5 out of 5 stars Infinite possibilities.......2007-04-21

Highly recommended.

      Book Description

This volume addresses the contentious issues surrounding women's work during a century of social upheaval. Elizabeth Roberts focuses on working-class women and their work--full time and part-time, paid and unpaid, outside and inside the home--examining men's attitudes to women's work, women's connections with trade unions, a "family wage," and unequal pay and status. Women's Work is a unique overview of an expanding field of social and economic history, and Dr. Roberts' survey of the available literature provides a useful guide to further reading.

Forty-seven interview chapters with successful restaurateurs, reporting on what they are doing to increase their profits from beverage sales. New twists on martinis, tequila, rum and other spirits as well as extensive coverage of wine. The fast-growing importance of expanding the alcohol-free drink category is also covered. Every chapter has one or more nuggets of pure gold. You are sure to find some that you can immediately put to use to improve your restaurant's bottom line. AUTHOR'S COMMENTS: For over a year I have traveled the country talking to restaurateurs, bartenders, sommeliers and, yes, customers. What I heard is in this book's pages. Different restaurateurs faced different challenges and answered those challenges in different ways. You're not in a cookie-cutter business. What works for one operator may not work for another. This book was not written to give you an infallible path to success. It was written to show you what has worked for others. You take what you believe has pertinence to your operation and then give it your unique touch.

I would enjoy having a dialogue with you. Tell me what you are doing that is innovative and successful. I'm looking for good ideas for the newsletter I'll be introducing this April, 2000 - Dave Steadman's Restaurant Scene. My email address is DSteadmanF@aol.com

I was looking for a book about how to promote a restaurant/bar operation, and how the "entertainment" factor is worked into a place's image. This book is fun to read because of the great places it reviews. No small operations here, but it is easy to use parts of these operations in your own place. Overall, a very useful book.

A wonderfully informative and readable book for those engaged in the hospitality industry. Certainly, a must buy for resturant proprietors seeking to attract new customers and increase profits through beverage sales. This book provides a clear set of proven innovative approaches successfully used by some of the best in the hospitality business. This book should be required reading for those looking to stay ahead of the competition.

5 out of 5 stars The Magic Window.......2003-03-20

Like many people of my generation, I grew up in front of the television. As far as I was concerned, there was no `history' of TV-it was simply always there and I was doubtful that a book that explored television before the advent of The Brady Bunch would be as interesting and enlightening as The Magic Window is. Dr. Von Schilling's well-researched and highly readable book is not simply another nostalgic look at the 40s and 50s, however; rather, it traces the history and politics and sporting events of those decades and how these events seen on television for the first time shaped America's culture. From political campaigns to the integration of baseball to the first network censors, The Magic Window documents television's rapid rise and enormous popularity in the United States and tells its story from the point of view of a fan.

5 out of 5 stars More Than Memories.......2003-03-08

                  MORE THAN MEMORIES
Reading THE MAGIC WINDOW brought back many memories of some of my wife, and my favorite TV programs, such as The Texaco Star Theater, Studio One, Play House Ninety, The Goldbergs, I Remember Mama, Kukla, Fran,& Ollie, the Saturday westerns, and many others. We especially enjoyed Dr. Von Schilling's thoughtful insights into the historical background of those programs and how they either affected or were affected by events in our history. We hadn't realized the role TV played during WWII, the impact of the Cold War on early television, the tight hold that the censors had on some of the early TV stars, and how TV helped shape our American history and customs. We keep referring to our copy of THE MAGIC WINDOW to share facts and tidbits about programs and programming with our friends and family. We've had some lively discussions while we reminisced! As former teachers it is very easy for us to wish that we were back in the classroom and teaching some of the material that Dr. Von Schilling presents; however,it is not just a teaching tool, but rather an enjoyable reading and discussion opportunity for every one.

5 out of 5 stars Meticulously detailed in its presentation.......2003-02-07

The Magic Window: American Television 1939-1953 by American popular culture expert James Von Schilling (Professor of English, Northampton Community College) provides a scholarly presentation of the inherently fascinating story of how television became the immensely popular attraction and cultural force it is today. From the electronic phenomenon's first public appearance in the 1939 New York World's Fair, to the creation and development of landmark and influential programming from 1939 to 1953, and television's rapid proliferation to the point where it became an integral part of almost every American household ever since, The Magic Window is meticulously detailed in its presentation. Especially recommended reading for TV buffs wanting to learn more about the history of this widespread and widely beloved form of mass-media, The Magic Window is also commended to the attention of students and scholars in the fields of 20th Century American History, American Popular Culture, and Communications & Media Studies.

As a former Marine myself and now father of a Marine, I was interested in seeing what the crucible was all about. When I went through boot camp in 1982 there was no crucible. I purchased this book and read it as my son was going through the crucible. I found it to be a very informative book and a great insight as to what the crucible is all about. It chronicles the transformation of our young men and women into United States Marines.

James Woulfe nails this look at the culmination of Marine boot camp -The Crucible. The book follows a group through the training program. The book is an easy read but very insightful.

I just finished reading this book today, I am about to head on down to boot camp myself this summer and wanted to just get a little taste of what its going to be like in the crucible, this is a non-stop action packed book, it was so hard to put down, and usually I can't keep intrest in books. This told you the story of young men making their way to becoming a United States Marine. I recommend this for anyone who is joing or has joined or just anyone wanting to read an amazing book, it will give you a whole respect for what the USMC is all about.

If you have an interest in Marine training, especially this very challenging drill that young men in boot camp must master to graduate, then this is a very informative read for you. I have a son who is a Marine and I wanted to understand the 13 week process that they go through in their training. By studying the training schedule and reading this book, I had more of an understanding of what he had gotten himself into. This is an incredibly grueling 52 hour "march" and training regimen--this Crucible. The author takes us through the very beginning of the march, what the recruits are thinking, feeling, their fatique, all the way to the long march back to bootcamp. We actually finally see a human side to the drill sargents, because they are participating in this as well. I really liked the way that the author took the reader from station to station and explained how each challenge was named for a particular Marine who had given his life and the valor behind the story. That is something you will not forget after reading this book. Another point is that there is so little contemporary material available concerning Marine training for readers such as myself, and this is so fresh and fairly easy to understand.

5 out of 5 stars The Change is Forever.......2005-11-14

My youngest Son is currently in the Marines, and this book helped me understand what some of the things, he went thru at Camp Pendleton during the Crucible, must of felt like, that transformed him forever.

The Crucible is now done in the middle of Boot Camp, and the recruits become Marines the day before graduation, at a special pinning ceremony, after a motivational run.

I really felt like I was going through the exercise. A really great part of each obstacle, is the history behind the name it is given, and while reading many of the stories of heroism, associated with each obstacle, I swelled up with pride that my Dad (USMC Cpl Korea 52-54) had and my Son currently has the courage & commitment to our country.

The first book in this series was so so over all with a pretty fair set of opening sequences. The context however includes improbable concepts and battle action no-shows.
There must be an audience for this author but for the life of me,I have no idea how he finds a publisher. I have not read any of his other works nor do I intend to.These volumes referred to were given to me,therefore no regrets at spent money on them.
This reminds me of a summer replacement television series, the ones that get clicked off very quickly.
Sorry, I hate to write a bad review but this one deserves all of it.

                    2 out of 5 stars Dissapointing.......2005-05-29

I wish I could say that the story of the Great War of the Ban improves in the second half of McKiernan's Hel's Crucible duology, but it doesn't. It actually becomes rather tedious. It seems as if McKiernan has his characters going around in circles, fighting battles wherever they crop up, purely for the heck of it. This might not be too bad if the characters had had more personality and the journey sequences didn't all feel the same. Not even the territory seemed all that different. And that's when I found another major flaw. McKiernan has a great looking map on the inside covers of both volumes of the duology - pity that practically none of the places discussed in the story are on the map. There's virtually no way to distinguish where Tip and Beau are at any given time, unless you've paid an excessive amount of attention to their wanderings.

I don't think I'll be giving away too much by saying that Tip and Beau accomplish their mission in the first quarter of this novel. After lots of trouble and strife, Tip finally finds King Agron and delivers the coin. In a perfect world, the story would end there. But, it doesn't. Instead it meanders on for another 400 pages. The little band of heroes continues to fight the evil that threatens to take over the world. Their continued journey allows them to meet even more types of folk, both good and bad. And, they do finally get to Hel's Crucible, which is actually a location, as well as a turning point in the novel. The battle scenes there are among the best of these two books, probably because McKiernan has finally gotten around to wrapping up all the loose ends and resolving this drab series. I strongly suspect that he may have had a contract he had to fulfill. I know he's written other books with more creativity and imagination. The story told in this two-volume set could have easily been told in one slimmer volume with a lot less fluff and much more enjoyment for the reader. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in this book and the duology overall. McKiernan has written a lot of novels set in Mithgar; one can only hope that they aren't all as dull as this particular series was.

                    2 out of 5 stars A So-So Conclusion.......2004-11-29

This book is somewhat better than its predecessor, mostly because things finally happen. That silly coin actually does get to Agron, Beau finally acquires a love interest other than Tip, and we learn, only in the final 120 pages out of 950, why this mini-series of two volumes is called Hel's Crucible. There are loads of battles, but the battles are wildly unrealistic; it just isn't as easy to kill people with a sling or bow and arrow, even with a direct hit, as McKiernan pretends.

The big finale isn't very successful; a series of armies appears pretty much out of thin air to push the plot forward, and the final twist, because it is heavily foreshadowed but absurdly carried out, manages to be at once predictable and unbelievable.

The book has two themes, both heavily and frequently underlined, that every action has consequences, ultimately unpredictable, and that freedom isn't free. True enough, but the author has nothing particularly original or insightful to say on either topic.

The bottom line is that this is just not very good Tolkien cribbing. There are quite a few other Mithgar stories by McKiernan, but I have no plans to read any of them.

                    5 out of 5 stars COOL.......2002-05-23

I think that Into the Fire is a book that brings together action, fiction, and a bit of romance. Tip and Beau return in the sequal to Into the Forge. As Tip and Beau become seperated form their friends they incounter many dangers, and in them also many havens and friendly people.
I recomend this book to anyone who likes Lord of the Rings, or something of the sort.
Anyone reading this will notice simularities to Lord of the Rings and some may not like it because it relates to much.
This book, I reccomend, to anyone above the age of thirteen and up, and to both male and female audiences, although males may like it more.

                    1 out of 5 stars Barn rats!.......2002-04-29

Who knew war could be so boring? The second book of the Hel's Crucible duology almost rivals the first for boredom and irritating tendencies. During the course of the book, Beau comments, "Four years? No wonder I'm sick of war" or words to that effect. I felt like chiming in, "You and me both."

This book picks up where the first left off, where Tip, Beau, Loric, Phais and Bekki are all setting out to finally get that stupid little coin to Agron. When they finally get it to him, they find out that there is a specific (and very dumb) purpose behind it, and become even more enmeshed in the war with Modru's sinister forces. At the same time, Tip finds that his girlfriend Rynna and her band of Warrows (warrior-hobbits) are still alive. But Modru's horde is not the only thing that threatens Our Heroes -- a deadly plague is sweeping Dendor. And to destroy Modru's forces, they will have to rely on a force that no one can control...

The first book was kind of like watching the heroes running on a hamster wheel; they were running, but they weren't actually going anywhere or accomplishing anything. This time, they actually accomplish things. But it's the same thing; they run to someplace, they get new allies for the Good Guys, something bad happens, they overcome it. Repeat for 550 pages. We are told in almost day by day detail about what they were doing, where they were going, and what direction they were going in. Loric, Phais and Bekki all sort of drift in and out.

And major plot developments like the plague, the destruction of Atala, and that thing with Galarun and the sword feel tacked on. The plague, for example, begins and ends within the course of this book, and it adds nothing to the plot. We're told that the Silver Sword can kill Gyphon, about halfway through the book; that's over three quarters through the story, and it feels like it was tacked in solely to add more pages to the meager storyline. The last thirty pages are exceptionally poorly written; it feels like McKiernan got sick of the whole story, and simply added some vague descriptions to an initial outline. The extremely important threat from Gyphon is added as an afterthought.

The cast is too large for anyone to have much character development, and there is very little personal difference between Elves, Mages, Men, Warrows, and so on. Traumatic events such as the destruction of Atala last a lot less time then they should. After Loric and Phais find out exactly what happened, everyone gets upset for about ten minutes, then ambles off on their way. And supposedly important events are... well, underwhelming is too vague a word to use. When they finally get the idiotic coin to Agron (and by this time I was thoroughly sick of it) we are told its purpose. I ended up shouting, "That's IT? That's ALL?" At one point, Agron's army is wiped out by an avalanche. There is no real feel of crisis during all of this.

Even so, the climax managed to snag me and force me to take it seriously. But then the Utruni showed up, and everything came apart. I'm sorry, but when they started speaking in a mangled Yorkshire accent, I laughed so hard I dropped the book. The Warrows are utterly annoying warrior hobbits (imagine Frodo joining the Marines), without the simple charm of Tolkien's creations. The Elves are still weird; the Dwarves sort of peter out somewhere during the story.

Characterizations are even flatter than in the first book, and unfortunately we also have more annoying female Warrows; Rynna, and her irritating cousin Linnet. We still have Tolkien ripoffs: the Warrows are essentially hobbits in combat; the Gargons/Balrogs; Agron/Elendil; trolls, uruk-hai, orcs/ogrus, hloks, and rukhs; Boskydells/Shire; Modru/Sauron; Atala/Numenor; Gyphon/Morgoth; ents/Woodwer, and so on...

Dialogue is still a problem, as is repetition. If I hear "oh my" or "barn rats!" one more time, I think I'll shriek. We are forced to endure the exact same descriptions in the season-changing ritual as before; and a paragraph on one of the final pages is, word for word, identical to one in the Iron Tower trilogy. (Mr. McKiernan, if you can't write a new description of the Thornwall, please don't write any description of it at ALL!)

As in the last book, we are treated to excruciating romance. Thankfully, Elf lovers Phais and Loric are pretty much celibate in this book. But we have Tip and Rynna, and Beau taking up with the picky Linnet. (Yes, again, he falls instantly in love with minimal exposure to Warrow girls, and I fail to see the attraction to either Rynna or Linnet) Unfortunately, we also have to deal with Elissan, the pervert Elf from Book 1 -- she's still focusing on seeing Tip in the nude. (I was once jokingly called a "pervy hobbit fancier," but the description fits her better!)

Outstandingly poor, failing even to succeed as a ripoff. I don't know why McKiernan sent this story to his editor without a few years of rewriting.
