Además, dentro de cada capítulo, las funciones han sido agrupadas por afinidad y no alfabéticamente. Eso permite localizar más fácilmente las funciones relacionadas con el mismo tipo de cálculo.

This book is great to tell ex wifes what is coming or what is normal but it does not give steps or suggetions on how to deal with the situation which is what i thought survival guide meant. This did not help me.

More realistic book than many others.......2007-06-28

I've been in 2 marriages with step-baggage so I have personal experience here. This book was more realistic than others in the feelings a new wife may have, but it really doesn't get into the dirt. I never had bad feelings or jealousy toward my husband's first wife until she barged into our lives and started acting like she was still married to him. In no way should you be, as the author said "the forgotten toy at the bottom of the toy box". If you are, then you're doing it all wrong. I've (after much prodding from friends) have decided to write my own thoughts and maybe one day my book will be here. Until then, if you're a new wife and need some consoling that you are not crazy, selfish or alone in your feelings, then by all means read this book. Welcome to the sisterhood.

Good to feel normal!.......2007-05-26

The beauty of this book is not in the advice (it has no tips, or practical tools) but in the opportunity it offers the reader to identify with the writer's situation. I am a divorced woman seriously dating a man with an ex-partner and a daugther and always felt "weird" due to the emotional reactions I had around certain situations, particularly those that involved his ex. Given that I had little support from family and friends (none are divorced or dating people with ex-es), the book was a welcomed reassurance that my emotions were NORMAL!

Not what I thought.......2007-01-12

It was an ok read. It didn't really fit my situation. Know that this book concentrates on two divorce people with kids getting remarried. I have never been married and my husband has been married twice and has one child with each ex. This book also concentrates on stories of the husband not being suppotive. My husband is wonderful in helping me in the situation But the ex-wives are spawns of the devil. The have both tried every trick in this book. and they are good firends! I was looking for something more about how to handle the ex-wives.
This is a good read if you have both been married before and you are having trouble with the kids and ex-wives not being accepting to you or if your husband is not being very supportive of the situation. This book makes you feel like you are not alone in this battle. After you read this book make your husband read it also.

I did not get quite what I was looking for when I purchased this book. Was hoping there would be more information to help me get through and understand some difficult things in dealing with an ex-wife. It did help some, though.

Funny, Enjoyable Read.......2007-04-13

This book jumps right into the lives of some very true to life characters. The writing style was so natural and witty, and I enjoyed reading this story. It was never boring and had unique characters and situations. My only gripe is the cover... the dog that the main character Sarah had at one point was described as looking nothing like this dog on the cover... so it kind of left me wondering who is that person on the cover?

Engaging second chance for romance.......2006-05-05

Artist Sarah Stagg is dumfounded when Andrew, her husband of over 20 years tells her that he has fallen in love with his much younger leading lady from a community play. He moves out of the family home to shack up with Hyacinth and with the boys about to leave on an extended vacation, Sarah is left alone to pick up the pieces of their broken marriage.

She gets dragged into participating in a community production of "Rebecca," which was to star Andrew and Hyacinth, who are keeping a low profile due to the scandal. There she spreads her wings and has to play the lead, when what she really wanted to play was the embittered and scheming older woman. She befriends her leading man, Martin, and the two meet for walks with her psychotic donor dog.

A week in Majorca brings romance to her life in the form of her former crush from college , Barney. They have a whirlwind courtship, and she makes plans to join him after the play is over. When she returns to tell people, all are shocked, especially Andrew, who is shocked she found someone so quickly on the rebound, and Martin, who was enjoying their walks and budding friendship. But as Sara soon finds out - life is never predictable.

Author Holt packs a lot of humor and creates some really engaging characters, but I thought that she could have expanded a little more on the men in Sarah's life. For the most part, the women were interchangeable - Miriam and Jennifer in particular seemed like the same person after awhile. There were also a few loose ends and questions left unanswered - like the fate of the two traveling sons. Overall, it was a thoroughly engaging story.

Utterly Predictable but Plenty of Fun.......2006-02-20

It's pretty clear what's going to happen after Sarah's husband dumps her -- she's going to find another guy. That's what always happens in books like this and in fact that's probably why we read them. This book will provide you with an entirely pleasant afternoon on the sofa, turning pages, and you will be rewarded with a satisfying (although not particularly surprising) ending. The writing is solid, with many welcome funny moments, and the story moves quickly. I look forward to her next one.

Terrific and quirky .......2006-02-10

Forty-three years old artist Sarah Stagg is staggered by her husband of two decades Andrew dumping her for spunky twentyish actress Hyacinth Harrington, whom he met at the local theatre group. Adding to her despondency is his claim that he now knows what true love is though Sarah figures that Andrew's definition is lust. Their twin sons are backpacking in India so Sarah is all alone for the first time in her life.

Still Sarah vows to move on though she feels anger and humiliation that Andrew leaves her. Still she turns to painting and refuses to hide from her neighbors attending all the social events in Ambercross. Shockingly she even gets the lead role in the Ambercross Players production of Rebecca where she meets fellow dumpee Martin. When she travels to Majorca for a week of sexual encounters, she is stunned when she gets home by the disapproval of Martin and Andrew. Still she refuses to back down from her pledge to herself to live life to the fullest.

The EX-WIFE'S SURVIVAL GUIDE is a terrific quirky depiction of a woman rebounding from her husband abruptly dropping her for a younger, sexier and spicier model. Sarah is an intriguing individual as she goes through the five stages of grief until she realizes that she has a wonderful life of her own. Debby Holt provides a fascinating character study that the audience will appreciate.

This is a one-of-a-kind manual for the alienated or adventurous youth of the world an utterly fascinating read.

If you're thinking about joining, or just want to know more, this is the most practical book you'll find on the subject. It should help dispel any illusions that you have of romantic days spent marching mile after mile through the desert. Be prepared for a life of Spartan confines and discipline.

But it's more than that. I can't really tell you how many times I've picked up this book just to have something to read. But it says something about a book when you return to it over and over again. I even emailed the author a few questions and was pleasantly surprised by receiving an answer.

The book even caused a minor controversy with my parents as the author explained some of the finer points of "telling people off" in French. Apparently, my rather sensible French mother didn't quite understand the totality or extremeness of some internationally known gestures or expressions. Needless to say, my father and I had a good laugh over this.

I left this book on my desk at work in 2004 just before going on vacation in Europe. Oh, how the rumors started to fly!

This is a great book for anyone contemplating joining the Legion and it's a great read for anyone remotely interested in the Legion. I think the author is very honest in his assessments of the Legion and its ventures.

This book is set up almost like an instruction manual (like the title implies). It's an easy read that isn't too much like a dry term paper. I thought it was very interesting. When I was younger I entertained thoughts of being a paratrooper in the French Foreign Legion and I wish I would've had this as a reference. I definitely recommend this for anyone who has ever even thought about joing in the Legion. It may encourage you to make a decision that would surely change your life!

Look Inside the Hype.......2006-09-20

Very good nuts and bolts look at day to day life in the Legion. Well worth reading (I don't automatically give 5 stars). One thing I noted. Training at the small unit level seems to be OK but with seemingly an over-arching emphasis on physical fitness over tactics. Training at the battalion level and above seems to be scarce. Combined arms or joint training seems to be totally lacking. What this means is that in the legion (and maybe the whole frog army) you have units who can't shoot, manuver and communicate at a level above (perhaps) company. Combat isn't totally or even primarily a PT test. Not reassuring if we ever have to depend on them on our flank in a pinch, granted an unlikely scenario. And who could ever depend on the french anyway??

While Jackie Robinson is justly famous for breaking the color line in major league baseball in 1947, other young African-American players, among them Hank Aaron, continued to struggle for acceptance on southern farm teams well into the 1960s. As Bruce Adelson writes, their presence in the South Atlantic, Carolina, and other minor leagues represented not only a quest for individual athletic achievement; simply by hitting, fielding, and signing autographs alongside their white teammates, African-American ballplayers helped to end segregation in the Jim Crow South.

In writing this book, Adelson interviewed dozens of athletes, managers, and sportswriters who witnessed this important but largely unrecognized front in the ongoing civil rights movement. When nineteen-year-old Percy Miller took the field for the Danville (Virginia) Leafs in 1951, his presence on the roster was not the result of altruism: the team's white owners saw attendance flagging and recognized the need for more African-American fans. Two years later, Hank Aaron and his two black teammates for the Milwaukee Braves' Jacksonville (Florida) farm team were regularly greeted by racial invective, even bottles and stones, on the road. And Ed Charles endured nine years of discrimination in the southern minor leagues before breaking into the majors and finally winning the World Series with the Mets in 1969.

Slowly, through the vehicle of baseball, these African Americans shattered Jim Crow restrictions and met the backlash against Brown v. Board of Education while simultaneously challenging long-held perceptions of racial inadequacy by performing on the field. This is a wonderful book, recounting a largely unknown story of American and baseball history - how the southern minors' integration was part of the larger civil rights movement. 20th century baseball integration began but did not end with Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby. Unitl now, no one had taken their legacy to the next step. Bruce Adelson now has in a powerful account of what it was like being on the front lines of baseball and civil rights in the Dixie of the 1950s and early 1960s.

Terrific Book!.......2001-01-20

The author does a great job of capturing both sides of the integration battlefields (ballparks) of the South. He effectively uses narratives of former players, both the famous (Felipe Alou, Billy Williams, etc.)and the not so famous (Joe Durham, Percy Miller Jr., etc.) to detail exactly what those pioneers had to endure. Those narratives are interwoven with clippings from various newspapers of the day to tie the intergration of minor league baseball in the South with the overall racial climate of those cities. This book, I believe, would prove to be an interesting and informative read, even for those who are not baseball fans. Adelson obviously did a lot of research and successfully shows how baseball "broke down the walls" for total integration in the South. Spend the money and the time on this book - it's worth it!

A phenomenal account of the integration of Dixie's minors........1999-04-29

The author has done an excellent job documenting the experiences of Hank Aaron, Billy Williams, Felipe Alou and others who broke minor league baseball color lines down south in the years after Jackie Robinson opened up the major leagues. His book includes poignant and compelling interviews with these and other ballplayers who relate their painful experiences of enduring Jim Crow racial restrictions while playing baseball. The author also places their achievements within the historical context of the times, the 1950s and 1960s. These players were truly civil rights pioneers, helping to integrate a closed society. This is a must read!

A compelling and very well-written account of Jim Crow and minor league baseball in the American South. The book is a fascinating cultural and historical study. The author clearly devoted a great deal of time in researching this book. His presentation of the oral histories is fantastic.
