This is easily the worst textbook I have used in my entire college career. Its language is convoluted and extremely confusing, and its descriptions are poor at best. Had I read this textbook alone without concurrently taking a project management class, I would have been utterly confused as to what the authors are trying to convey. Thank goodness I had an excellent professor to help me delve through this monstrosity.

This book details the friendship of Mindy Solomon and Ursela Duran.

They met eachother in a boarding house in NYC in 1981 and quickly became very close. Both had very interesting childhoods and treated eachother more like sisters. Ursela had come to NYC to be a model and was getting noticed by the time that she and Mindy met. Mindy however wanted to be a dancer.

They both worked on their craft. However Ursela's mother started noiseing her self into her daughters life and actually helped her be more famous because she did not like the friendship of her daughter and Mindy.

For a while they did not see eachother, but kept in contact. Mindy however went from being a dancer to a comedian after an engery she sustained during a performance forced her to give up dancing.

They remained close over the years helping eachother when things were rough (such as when Uresla eloped with a comedian and quickly divorced her drug doing cheating husband) Then Mindy and her boyfriend work on a project based on Mindy's comady act that Ursela gets the part for. After this Mindy does not want to see either one of them again and actually becomes pregnant with the baby of Ursela's ex-husband to get back at her.

They both go their own seperate ways but after Ursela gets into a car accident on the way to her mother's house( she had an affair with and married a Hollywood director) Mindy decides to mend fences and they become friends again.

I should note that I was not more than passingly familiar with Rudner's work before I read this book (which I received as a gift). I assume that Rudner fans will likely get even more out of it than I did.

Tickled Pink tells the story of a young dancer who makes her way to New York from Florida only to find that comedy is her true calling. It follows her and her best friend Ursula (an aspiring model/actress) as they climb the path to fame and happiness.

While the book often reads like a semi-autobiographical first novel-- too flat in places, too sweet in others-- it has more heart than you generally find from this kind of work from a performer. It kept me engaged and reading, and even provided some interesting insights into the world of comedy clubs in the 1980s. Nobody is going to accuse it of being a great work of literature, but it really isn't bad.

All in all, I would give it three-and-a-half stars. I enjoyed it more than expected to and you may as well. It makes me a little bit sorry that we opted to see Tom Jones rather than Rudner during our recent trip to Vegas.

I have always loved the humor of Rita Rudner, so it's no surprise that she would write a fantastic book like, "Tickled Pink" that is, at times, downright hilarious, just based upon her characterizations. With the backdrop of solid comedy, wonderful pacing and clever plot development this book is a MUST for those who love humor in their reading. I know, it's trite, but I didn't want it to end. I felt like Rita was telling the story to me over a double latte and I hope she makes a lot of money on this one!

"Tickled Pink: A Comic Novel" by Rita Rudner deals with two friends, Mindy and Ursula who both aimed to make it big in New York. Mindy was aspiring to be a dancer in Broadway while Ursule hoped to be popular as a model. As both came from a difficult family background, they needed each other and considered each other as family. Soon, Ursula became a famous model while Mindy, who was injured in an accident and could never dance again sought a new career - as a comedian. As Ursula became more popular, Mindy's situation stayed the same as she was still waiting for her big break. Unfortunately for them, something happened (don't want to reveal everything here) that broke their relationship and soon they were on their own.

I really enjoy reading this book. I have no idea who Rita Rudner was... received this book as a gift. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments but I feel that this book is more than just that. Rudner deals with issues as such friendship, family and forgiveness. The characters are wonderfully developed... you feel as though you really know Mindy and Ursula. In addition, it gives me insights into the world of stand up comedians and the things that they have to overcome in order to be successful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a relaxing read.

Normandie in photographs.......2006-10-25

There is nothing like the classic Ocean Liners of the past...floating palaces, and wonders of the world at the time. The Normandie or Ship of Light as she was fondly called was certainly one of the most beautiful liners of all time. This is a photographic history of the ship from building to her untimely end. Well worth the price for ship enthusiasts.

Art Deco at It's Finest.......2004-09-09

The Normandie appeared to be a fantastic ship. A sleek greyhoud when comapred to the British Horizontal Queen Mary, the liner appeared to go all out to make crossing the Atlantic an experience in luxury that one would seldom forget. John Mantone Graham, author of Crossing & Cruising and other books on the great liners fantasiczed in one of his books how the Normandie would fare in the post World War II era, if she had survived the February 1942 fire and completed her transformation to a troop carrier and back to an ocean liner with such improvements as air conditioning, etc.

It's most interesting that the recently launched Queen Mary2 was constructed in the same ship yard as the Normandie was. Perhaps it was just an interesting coincidence.

This book treats the First Class area of the Normadie in great detail and lush photographs, but I was slightly disapointed by the lack of information about the 2nd and 3rd classes. From what I have heard, these two classes were far superior to any other liner of the 1930's, and it was a bit let-down not to see any photos of these areas of the fabulous Normandie.

On the other hand, I had never seen some of the 1st Class photos before--- In general, a great visual(but slightly limited)find.

I can't get enough of this 'Ship of Light'..........2002-05-12

I'm a big fan of the famous, luxurious old transatlantic liners. The Normandie is perhaps my favorite, as the most beautiful and gracious of the pre-WWII ladies of the sea. The fact that the Normandie was tragically and negligently destroyed well before she'd passed her prime has made knowing her much more difficult than her still-opulent rival, the Queen Mary. This mystery shrouds she was REALLY like...and remains a big part of her attraction. This book really helped me get closer to the Normandie, with lovely pictures of her construction and her glorious career, as well as saddening photos of her destruction. Though depressing, one sight I'd longed to see was her first class dining salon post-fire, which this book includes. I just had to know what fire and salvage would do to it...and know I know!

Though you'll never get to step on board this wonderous ship, you can learn an awful lot about her in this book!

Valueable Tool In Learning About Our World........2005-12-09

Where I'm coming from: I'm non-Jewish and am pro-Jewish on the individual level, just as I am pro-black on an individual level, in other words I look at people as individuals when I look at them individually which is hopefully most of the time. I also happen to be of "old stock" European ancestry, and so I am none too pleased with what may be termed the "Jewish Agenda" with regards to supporting the demographic change in the U.S. (Some might call it a sort of quiet genocide of my people.)

Anyway, this is a very interesting book and I have a long way to go in finishing it. But what seems to be a common theme is that Jews (racial and religious) who have entries on them in the book are treated as "one of the gang" and they are described with a great deal of sympathy regardless of how they may have hurt non-Jews (and Jews themselves); Karl Marx, Jabotinsky, and Menachem Begin, for example, come to mind. There are many outstanding (in the most positive sense) Jewish individuals with entries, such as the great Benjamin Nathan Cardozo, one of the finest legal minds and one who had a tremendous sympathy for his fellow humans and who wrote the most beautiful legal opinions, a real hero of mine. Many other great people of the Jewish faith are included.

But why, oh why, is Karl Marx there? You'd think Jews would want to disown him. I think some earlier Jewish Encylopedias included Herbert Aptheker, (former) chief theoretician for the Communist Party, USA. How strange, how unholy...

The passage on Disraeli was quite interesting in that it ends with a statement he made to the effect that Jews were the purest, best, and noblest race. From what I've read so far, this also seems to be central to the guiding philosophy behind this book.

To learn about the Jewish people this book is very helpful.
