Who wants to be a millionaire? Virtually everyone, if that traditional mark of wealth actually represents what we truly need for financial freedom. Michael LeBoeuf's The Millionaire in You outlines a three-pronged plan for amassing and retaining those necessary resources by expressly defining where we want to go and consciously striving to get there. LeBoeuf, a former business professor who retired at 47, has also written several books on working smarter and more creatively. Here he turns some of those principles into suggestions for avoiding the "time/money trap" that often keeps us tied to financially limiting employment, and initiating habits that instead allow us to do what we really want. The foundation is simple ("invest your time actively and your money passively"), as are recommendations to put accumulated savings exclusively into no-fee, lower-risk index funds that match individual asset allocations. The core, however, involves 10 strategic choices for really making those dreams come true. Among them: set goals for career, family, relationships, etc.; improve odds with smart life choices; maximize savings by minimizing expenses; build personal market value; and take advantage of windfalls. LeBoeuf concludes with ways to sustain financial independence and enjoy it more by maintaining physical and mental health and giving back to the community. --Howard Rothman
Book Description
Wouldn’t it be great to have the financial freedom to do whatever you want? Wouldn’t it be better if you could also have the time to do it?
Most of us would answer a resounding yes to those questions. For many people, the goal of making money is not the accumulation of wealth for wealth’s sake; instead, the goal is to have enough money to do the things we’re passionate about. But very few people have a lot of money and the time to enjoy it.
Michael LeBoeuf knows how to obtain both—and he wants to teach you. LeBoeuf shows that there are only four things people need to know about money: how to make it, how to save it, how to invest it, and how to enjoy it. But most people never figure out how to do all four, although almost anyone can. The key to doing so lies in applying a simple principle called LeBoeuf’s Law: Invest your time actively and your money passively. Based on LeBoeuf’s Law,
The Millionaire in You offers ten strategic choices designed to maximize your time and money:
* Live the life you want instead of the life others expect.
* Stack the odds in your favor instead of against you.
* Be a supersaver instead of a big spender.
* Increase the market value of your time instead of working long hours.
* Do less better instead of trying to do it all.
* Capitalize on the unexpected instead of being derailed by it.
* Own the market instead of trying to beat the market.
* Limit your losses instead of letting bad luck ruin you.
* Listen to those who know instead of those who sell.
* Do it now instead of regretting it later.
LeBoeuf is living proof that this strategy can work. He is a former business professor who retired in 1989 at the age of forty-seven and is living off of his accumulated wealth. He didn’t inherit a dime, and he
didn’t get serious about achieving financial freedom until he was thirty-five. This book is intended to help you do what he’s done before you’re too old to enjoy the money you’ve earned or invested.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent basic investment guide book.......2007-09-23
As an avid fan of index funds, I really enjoyed LeBoeuf's book.
I did pick up a couple of recommendations I had not read before.
I already have high deductibles on my insurance policies. High deductibles lower the premium, and I only want to insure against major, not minor losses. Many insurance companies are now exempting homeowner's coverages that used to be covered in the policy. LeBoeuf advocates having earthquake and flood insurance......even if you live in a low risk area......because the premium is cheap if you live in a low risk area.....and you really do want insurance against a major loss. Its time to blow off the dust from my homeowner's policy and find out what I am really insured against.
LeBoeuf also recommends an umbrella insurance policy of $1M more than your net worth. I have never really seen a rule-of-thumb published on umbrella policies before. I have had an umbrella policy for many years......but have struggled with how big of policy to have.
All-in-all, a great basic investment book...full of useful and practical recommendations.

If there is one book that is worth its weight in gold -- literally -- it's this book.
I have read many, many personal finance books, and this one is the most straightforward, concise guide to achieving financial success that I have ever read. Its advice has been instrumental in helping me to grow to a net worth exceeding $1 million.
And LeBoeuf's Law is worth remembering: Invest your time actively and your money passively -- that is, put your money in index funds, and then work hard at finding what you want to do and making money while doing it. I am surprised that one reviewer here at amazon thought that LeBoeuf's Law was worth belittling. It is not.
Read, apply the advice, be patient and persistent, and become a millionaire.
A joke.......2005-08-30
Only a pompous windbag would name a "law" about investing after himself. Can you say shameless self promotion? Let Leboeuf make his next million on someonelse's back. Spend your money, instead, on "The Millionaire Next Door". That will give you the right mentality. Then read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" for implementation ideas.
Awesome........2003-04-19
This book should be required reading in college. Our world would be a better place if people focused on their priorities in life and resisted the constant seduction of wasting money.
Get it, read it, live it. You will not regret it!

Book Description
No longer just a relic of the Great Depression, deflation has been established in China and Japan since the 1990s and currently threatens other major economies such as Germany and even the United States. This volume considers why deflation may be worse than inflation and explores how individuals and policymakers have responded to the phenomenon. Monetary and exchange rate regimes as well as stock market reactions play an important part in advancing, or slowing, deflationary trends. The book's coverage ranges from the late nineteenth century to the present day.

Book Description
Humans have been adapting to a changing climate throughout history. Whether by innovation or migration we have developed a considerable capacity for "acclimatizing" to our environment. Since the mid 19th century, however, the rate of change has been increasing and the fact that this anthropogenically forced acceleration cannot be sufficiently reduced will have a significant impact on public health in the near and medium future. How severe the impact will be depends largely on our capacity to adapt and its effective deployment. By exploring cases histories in public health, Integration of Public Health with Adaptation to Climate Change: Lessons Learned and New Directions identifies the key adjustments necessary for public health systems to effectively adapt to this accelerated climate change. Taking into consideration the large portion of the global population without access to adequate nutrition, clean drinking water, or a viable public health system, the book examines the added influence of climate-sensitive diseases, their mutation, incubation, and migration, on life expectancy, economic productivity, and quality of life. The new challenge is to develop and deploy a capacity for more rapid social and technological adaptation, and to ensure that this capacity is universally and equitably distributed in the face of global environmental change. The option of the hunter/gatherer to simply pick up and move to more attractive climes is no longer available to today's higher population densities and fixed infrastructures. Effective adaptation to this rapid climate change must come from a conscious, planned, anticipatory approach. To do this we must use what we've learned from the lessons of our past

Book Description
The physics of hot plasmas is of great importance for describing many phenomena in the universe and is fundamental for the prospect of future fusion energy production on Earth. Nontrivial results of nonlinear electromagnetic effects in plasmas include the self-organization and self-formation in the plasma of structures compact in time and space. These are the consequences of competing processes of nonlinear interactions and can be best described using reaction-diffusion equations. Reaction-Diffusion Problems in the Physics of Hot Plasmas is focused on paradigmatic problems of a reaction-diffusion type met in many branches of science, concerning in particular the nonlinear interaction of electromagnetic fields with plasmas.
Customer Reviews:
A partial understanding.......2004-06-09
If fusion is ever to become practical, we need to understand more about the complex behaviours possible when we have a hot plasma. As this book explains, there are many problems. For example, the various magnetohydrodynamic equations can exhibit marked nonlinearities, which makes difficult the understanding of them, and the numerical simulations of the plasmas.
Actually, nonlinear effects can appear everywhere in the analysis. Like in considering the trajectories of the plasma across the phase space. Or in trying to simplify the reaction-diffusion equations, which is the core of the book.
Of course, these effects are not restricted to plasmas being studied in fusion research. The book points out that they can also arise wherever physicists deal with charged plasmas.
Perhaps the take-home conclusion to be drawn is that more research is needed to refine our knowledge and control of these plasmas.

Book Description
Sherman Sage (ca. 1844–1943) was an unforgettable Arapaho man who witnessed profound change in his community and was one of the last to see the Plains black with buffalo. As a young warrior, Sage defended his band many times, raided enemy camps, saw the first houses go up in Denver, was present at Fort Laramie for the signing of the 1868 treaty, and witnessed Crazy Horse’s surrender. Later, he visited the Ghost Dance prophet Wovoka and became a link in the spread of the Ghost Dance religion to other Plains Indian tribes. As an elder, Old Man Sage was a respected, vigorous leader, walking miles to visit friends and family even in his nineties. One of the most interviewed Native Americans in the Old West, Sage was a wellspring of information for both Arapahos and outsiders about older tribal customs.
Anthropologist Jeffrey D. Anderson gathered information about Sage’s long life from archives, interviews, recollections, and published sources and has here woven it into a compelling biography. We see different sides of Sage—how he followed a traditional Arapaho life path; what he learned about the Rocky Mountains and Plains; what he saw and did as outsiders invaded the Arapahos’ homeland in the nineteenth century; how he adjusted, survived, and guided other Arapahos during the early reservation years; and how his legacy lives on today. The remembrances of Old Man Sage’s relatives and descendants of friends make apparent that his vision and guidance were not limited to his lifetime but remain vital today in the Northern Arapaho tribe.

Book Description
“I am a one-year-old and this is my autobiography....”
Have you ever looked at your baby and wondered what he or she is thinking? Are you ready to find out?
“I thought it was about time someone told it like it is. So I’m spilling the beans on the world of a one-year-old. A world where you’re left in the charge of totally inept parents. Where everything’s at completely the wrong height. Where you’re not allowed to splash in the bath but you are in the pool. Where nobody understands a single word you say. And where diapers and poop loom large at every turn.
“It’s a roller-coaster ride through one heck of a year. I’ve laughed a lot, I’ve cried a lot, I’ve learned a lot. And so will you. You might even discover the answer to that age-old question: Humpty Dumpty — did he fall or was he pushed?
“Anyway, must run. I see a bowl of tepid gloop is being spooned out for me. What joy.”
Welcome to the wonderful world of your one-year-old.
From the Trade Paperback edition.
Customer Reviews:
Hilarious........2006-12-15
I picked this book up randomly and it is so funny. I laughed out loud throughout the whole book. It is definitely funnier if you have experience with this age group, and it hit home as I have a one year old right now. I find myself imagining my son's thoughts as the writer of this book now when he does things. Anyway, great read, very quick and amusing...great book for tired parents - it will give you a new outlook on some of those sleepless nights and food battles.
HILARIOUS!.......2006-07-25
I was looking for some insight into my 1-year-old's mind...boy, did I get it! You will look at your child in a whole new way after reading this book, wondering what deviousness he really posesses and what is actually purely innocent... I highly recommend this not just for parents, but for grandparents, childless friends trying to understand the baby thing, or anyone considering having a child. A guaranteed laugh for all!
Wow!! but primarily for adults who love children........2004-07-04
Rohan, Take a bow. This is your best effort yet.
If you wonder what goes on in the minds of infants, and yes they do have a mind that we all would love to understand then this is possibly the only book that tells you all even while you enjoy reading it.
In an absolutely simple prose the author reveals the thoughts of children during their first few months in our complex world.
The introduction to the fathers where the child on seeing his father wonders who is this hairy person is spot on and illustrative of the effort the author has put in to read the mind of a child.
This is not a parental guide but even better. Now I understand the antics of my toddler and have a better perspective of her actions.
This laugh out a sentence book is so good that Ive stopped reading the last few chapters as I dont want to finsh the book ever.
Not bad, but you should probably be a parent.......2004-02-09
Fairly funny at times, it's not a bad book. But it does drag on a bit after a while, even though the 279 pages are a quick read due to very short chapters, few numbering over 3 pages at most (some are just one sentence). I'd say to get the most out of it, you should be a parent. We have a 1 1/2 year old, so some things hit the nail on the head. But other things don't quite get there. I don't regret spending the time to read it, but I wouldn't forcefully recommend it to anyone.

Book Description
This study is based on a detailed textual analysis of the classical works on war by Clausewitz, Sun Tzu, Mao Tse-tung and, to a lesser extent, by Jomini and Machiavelli. The central conclusion is that the logic of waging war and of strategic thinking is as universal and timeless as human nature itself.
This third revised and expanded edition contains five new chapters. One of these concerns Clausewitz' insights into the problem of war termination. Another is dedicated to the importance of correctly identifying the nature of war. The author has also added a chapter on Corbett's naval strategy, the relation of his work to the spirit of that of Sun Tzu, and in particular the issue of limited war and war by limited contingency.
Customer Reviews:
Comparative study.......2007-07-19
I liked the way Handel compares the classical thoughts of Clausewitz and Sun Tzu. This a good way of understanding the fundamental similarities and differences in approach to war the West and East have.
Comprehensive.......2007-04-30
This book is a comprehensive analysis of classical military thought. Although some would argue that this book is for military scholars, I beg to differ, and, heartily suggest this book to any First Year Student of Military Studies. It will greatly assist you in your comparison and analysis of theory and theorists and will also give you a comprehensive understanding of the universal logic of the principles and tenets of war.
This is a great book.
Dr. Terry Tucker
Combined Security and Transition Command-Afghanistan
An Accessible Analysis of the Art of War.......2006-08-14
Michael Handel's third and final version of his "Masters Of War" may be the most accessible analysis of classical military thought available to the military professional or academic. Handel's patient, methodical, side-by-side textual analysis of the works of Sun Tzu and Clausewitz overcomes the deceptive simplicity of Sun Tzu's precepts and the equally deceptive dense verbiage of Clausewitz's "On War." The result is an enlightening exploration of what may be mankind's most complex and most dangerous collective activity. For all its wastage and terror, war continues to be a final arbiter of the destiny of nations and ideologies.
Handel's work is an intellectually challenging read designed for the military professional or academic. He examines important concepts such as the centers of gravity, the correlation of ends and means, and the relationship of military and political objectives through a compare and contrast analysis of the writings of Sun Tzu and Clausewitz. The writings of some other authorities such as Mao and Jomini are cited where especially relevant. Handel's prose is straightforward. He uses examples from a broad range of military history to illustrate his points.
The author, who died in 2001, completed his revisions for this edition before the start of the Global War on Terrorism. Nevertheless, both classical military thought and Handel's analysis continue to be relevant.
This book is very highly recommended for the mid-grade military professional, especially for those studying at the intermediate service college level, and for the military academic seeking a broader understanding of the operational and strategic levels of war.
Essential reference........2001-12-05
The best side-by-side comparison of Sun Tzu, Clausewitz, and Jomini strategic thought one can find. Included is Mao's strategic approach to completely round out classical perspective on war and strategy. The single best reference for understanding the similarities and differences between the masters of strategy.
Ideal for the academic,.......2001-06-02
is how I would describe Handel's 'Masters of War'. This however should not deter the keen reader from purchasing the book as it is indeed a wonderful, clear and interesting read.
In the course of his analysis, Handel sets out to compare and contrast the different schools of thought that 'the greats' developed, with particular attention being paid to Sun Tzu and Von Clausewitz. Perhaps this is where the text comes into its own for the academic. If one was to consider writing a study on the conduct and role of the military in this day and age, this book brings not only Sun Tzu and Von Clausewitz, but also Jomini and Machiavelli into focus. The student will hardly require a more comprehensive guide to different schools of thought for the construction of their essays.
In conclusion therefore, I would reaffirm my belief that this text would prove invaluable for any classical military analyst trying to find a text helping and perhaps reducing the amount of time devoted to sifting through Sun Tzu's 'Art of War' and Von Clausewitz's 'On War'. However, taken out of this context, although highly readable, it is perhaps beyond the requirement of the casual reader whom might be better served reading abridged texts of the originals first.

Should be Turned into a Video Documentary!.......2004-07-22
Margavio and Salomone's enlightening masterpiece chronicles the history of Italian-Americans who immigrated to Southeastern Louisiana during the late 1800's, where they were not welcomed warmly. The title "Bread and Respect" refers to the two main goals of this group of immigrants, whose plight has been ignored in popular and educational literature in favor of examinations of the Italian immigrants who established homes in New York and Boston. Unfortunately, such examinations of Italian immigrants to the Northeastern U.S. are often disseminated to the masses as works of fiction that are woven from some realistic elements (ie: the Godfather). This book, on the other hand, is an objective examination of a group of immigrants who endured the predjudices of an entire state and managed to carve their culture into the heart of New Orleans.
For entertainment value alone, this book should be turned into a filmed documentary. Margarvio and Salomone take us through several vignettes that are, in and of themselves, indicative of real life sucess stories. These case studies, if you will, illustrate the pains and triumphs of an immigrant group that fell prey to mass lynchings and false accusations in the 1890's. There is a little known fact that the treatment of Italian immigrants in Lousiana almost led to the brink of war with Italy, prompting King Umberto to recall his diplomats to the U.S..
Moreover, the educational value of such an anthropological study is priceless. I am not suprised by the reviewer who states her family's astonishment over the fact that there were massive groups of Italian immigrants in Louisiana. Recently, an associate of mine from North Boston, seemed to be in awe of this fact saying "I didn't know there were THAT many Italians in Louisiana...I thought they all went to Boston and New York". I was not suprised by these comments, having recently read George Takaki's "A Different Mirror", an acclaimed study of ethnic groups in America, which makes no mention of the plight of Italians in Louisiana.
There were not only Italians who immigrated to Louisiana, but their story is the story of a true hard-fought battle. That story is chronicled in "Bread and Respect". This book should be required reading for every upper-level Anthropology and Sociology student in the United States.

I was looking for a gift for my Dad's birthday in July, and I saw this title recommended on OSIA's website. I ordered a copy for my Dad and myself. After I finished my copy I left it with my Uncle to read. My Dad an my Uncle have been telling all our family about THE BOOK. I was actually in LA & my Dad introduced me to his cousins by saying SHE'S THE ONE THAT FOUND THE BOOK. Dad and all his relatives can't stop talking about it. I grew up in Maryland and it was interesting to me from a historical and cultural perspective about my roots. I remember hearing my parents and grandparents talk about the people and places. It was interesting listening to my Dad & his family who grew up in New Orleans talk about the book, because they not only knew the people but it seems like they were related to them or had a relative who was; they had been to the places described; and they or their parents had been involved in many of the events. It provides a wonderful family history for me to pass down to my daughter.
Excellent regional/ethnic history.......2002-11-20
About 70,000 Italians entered the Port of New Orleans in the first thirty years of the 20th century, most of them in response to widespread poverty in Sicily and the demand for labor among Louisiana planters. Land ownership was rare in Sicily and conditions were crowded and unpleasant in the northeastern urban slums of the U.S., but in Louisiana the immigrants settled mostly in rural areas and quickly became the principal food producers for the state. They often were not welcomed, however, by those who came before, as in the infamous lynching of a dozen Italians who had been arrested but not charged following the murder of New Orleans Police Chief David Hennessey in October, 1890. Margavio and Salomone, both professors of sociology, have done an excellent job in depicting the gradual assimilation of Italians and their culture, from muffalettas and Roman Candy in New Orleans to Nick La Rocca's Original Dixieland Jazz Band and the activities of the Societa Italiana di Mutua Beneficenza Cefautana. There are today hundreds of thousands of Italian-Americans living in Louisiana and this book should be of interest to most of them.

Excellent 2nd in Trilogy.......2001-06-06
"The Wildlings" is the second in "The Vampire Odyssey" by Scott Ciencin. IF you are fortunate to locate copies of the 3 books in the trilogy, you'll not regret it!
From the back cover:
TRAPPED BETWEEN TWO WORLDS...Half-human, half-vampire, Danielle Walthers was caught in a twilight world between human desire and inhuman need. In the dangerous streets and wild nightclubs of Los Angeles, 19 year-old Dani was fighting the call of her own blood heritage. But dark temptations and thrilling sensual pleasures were luring her closer to the edge. Unless she found a way to regain her hold on humanity, Dani feared the god-like powers and gnawing hungers within her would drive her forever into the night...FORCED TO WAG A BRUTAL BATTLE...One young woman held the key to Dani's salvation. But the vampire cabal, lurking beneath the glitzy world of show business, had its own agenda. Now Dani was forced to wage war againts them--a war that would brand her a Wildling, a vampire who killed its own kind. And in the vampire world, there was only one punishment for Wildlings--complete annihilation...
LOVE IT!.......2000-02-29
I think this is one of the best written vampire novels, the whole series is. (And I have read a few) I bought the Wildlings first and fell in love, so I HAD to get the other two. Good Job!

The Wildling.......2003-09-18
If you're looking for a wild ride, with a far out premise this is the tale for you! Who can resist the very idea of men as PETS, in a futuristic world where women reign supreme? This spicy story of mistress and mate is role reversal at its best! I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to step "outside the box" of traditional romance and experience something uniquely different!
Timeless Tales review.......2003-09-15
By TT reviewer Irene Marshall
Arness is a hunter - of wild "pets". She captures them, starts the taming/training process, then sells them. She has two pets of her own, which she has trained entirely on her own and they help her with the work as well as keeping her sexually happy.
The "pets" are human males and in this time and place, women have all the power. Pets are used for sexual playmates, slaves, and of course, for breeding purposes. Any male children born are raised by the pets and either sold or released into the wild when they are grown.
When Arness takes her latest catches to her best customer, Patroness Morgena, a woman who owns and runs a breeding farm, she's asked to stay and break/train a special pet, Adan. Morgena plans to give Adan to her daughter, Sala, when she returns from school, but Adan keeps trying to run away.
But when Sala returns from school, she's not what her mother expects. Along with her academic studies, Sala has managed to acquire and read most of an old copy of "The Flame and the Flower". From this, she deduces that at one time, men were dominant and women mere chattel, sexual objects. While she doesn't want to go that far, she thinks that men and women should be equal, and she refuses to treat men as slaves.
When Arness is bushwhacked and taken prisoner by a band of renegade men, a posse of pets, led by Sala, is formed to rescue her. Adan, who has met Arness, though his training has not yet begun, asks to go along. When he promises not to try to escape, he's allowed to join the posse.
A magnificent novel. The characters were strong and true to the scenario with very little true violence involved. The descriptions of the terrain in which the "pets" run wild sounds like the desert land of southwestern America and if this were the kind of desert wildlife that inhabited the area today, I can guarantee that there would be a lot more females hunting.
As usual, Treva has outdone herself in this offering for the female mind. She just keeps getting better and one begins to wonder what kind of life she lives outside her books. Whatever it's like, I want some of this kind of life, too. What an artist you are, Treva! You keep them coming and we'll keep reading, dreaming, and sweating. Thank you
Very Erotic!.......2003-07-06
Ok first off I have to say that this book is not for the reader who has problems reading sex scenes that are very graphic.
Now that that has been said on to the review. Well this is a story of very strong women. In fact those women rule the planet and men are pets. They are wild and captured and sold as pets to pleasure the women. Most don't speak until they are trained to. They serve thier mistresses without question. Now this is the only life the heroine Arness has ever known. In fact she tracks and captures men and then sells them for profit. That is until she meets a captive named Adan. Adan can speak and is fighting to be free. He is a handleful and Arness thinks she is the one to tame him, but soon its a toss up as to who has tamed who. They soon find that they are strongly attracted to each otherand together they must over come thier fears as well as societies rules to be happy.
I enjoyed this book and not just for the great love scenes. I found it to be exciting. It also had secondary characters that I found facinating and I looked forward to finding out where their lives would lead them.
Men as Pets What an Idea.......2003-05-19
This story is set in a post apocalyptic earth. Women are the governing force and men are wild or pets (slaves). Arness is a hunter and trainer of the Wildlings (men). She is very good at what she does. Until she meets and wildling named Adan. Adan insist that he is more than a pet. He speaks and thinks like anyone else and Arness is very attracted to him.
This is not one of my favorite type of stories. I'm not into the female dominated society or the subjugation of any people. However the story is well written and the characters are likeable.
