Good all around book.......2007-02-06

The book is very well written. I bought the book to learn about QuickBooks Job Costing which there is very little about, but it did have easy to follow instructions on the basics of QuickBooks. I gave it to a client who is a roofing contractor. My customer already had an estimating program so I did not use the estimator program that came with it.

Am teaching myself QuickBooks for my husband's carpentry business, and this book is very helpful. The QuickBooks tutorials are great, but without this book, which is specific to carpentry, it would be much more difficult. I recommend getting the book before you start setting up accounts in QuickBooks. It even comes with a CD for a sample company and estimator program.

The crossing of the Northwest Passage in August 1985 by a US icebreaker, without requesting authorisation, raised the whole question of Canada’s sovereignty over the waters of its Arctic Archipelago. Given this controversy and the existence of similar situations in other parts of the world, this book presents an examination of the international legal validity of Canada’s claim by an in-depth study of three possible bases in international law: the sector theory, the doctrine of historic waters and the Straight baseline system. This work is the second of a series of monographs arising from the Canadian Northern Waters Project of the Dalhousie Ocean Studies Programme, It draws on examples from other parts of the world, and, as such it will have relevance beyond the development of the Canadian Arctic. Professor Pharand is a recognised authority in this field. His earlier book, The Law of the Sea of the Arctic is still one of the standard reference works in the area, but with changes in the general law of the sea, this monograph presents a timely reappraisal of the relevant legal theories and practices.

Although the renormalization-group (RG) technique was first developed in quantum field theory in the 1950s, it later became clear that the method is equally applicable to classical problems involving random fields. It is, in fact, the simplest and most effective method for establishing scaling in specific models and calculating the corresponding critical exponents. This book presents a detailed exposition of the quantum field RG technique and its applications to various problems in the classical theory of critical behavior and stochastic dynamics. This most formal and technically effective version of the technique is based on the well-developed techniques of ultraviolet renormalization, which provides a reliable foundation for the quantum field version of the RG. This treatment focuses primarily on providing an in-depth description of the computation techniques. Using examples of particular calculations, the author gives as many details as possible and presents the final results in universal notation with the highest level of accuracy presently attained. From problems in critical statics and dynamics to problems in the theory of polymers, the stochastic theory of turbulence, and random diffusion, the list of applications continues to grow, and an acquaintance with the RG technique has become an essential element of the modern theoretical physicist's education. Mirth, Merriment, and Just Plain Fun.......2005-02-16

If you ever find yourself looking to fill a few moments with something thoughtful then this is your book. I keep it in my study and I turn to it all the time. The book is filled with quips and quotes about my favorite subject -- wine. This book is basically the wine lovers little instructional book. You'll know that you are hooked when you, like me, "borrow" a couple of the more poignant quotes.

Unlike many other little instructional books, this book goes far beyond just throwing out a bunch of light-hearted sayings. Each section is opened with an informative introduction from a knowledgeable author. Both the novice and the expert will likely learn some unknown fact from a quick perusal of the book. Keeping in mind that the source of a quote can be its most interesting feature, the author has also given cites and references to the many sayings throughout the book.

Even the art work, which appears throughout the book, is splendid.
