This book is obviously a bit outdated but since finding good books giving you an overview of SAP is so hard, it may still be worth having a look at this one.

I bought this before starting a project as coordinator of data migration and found it gave me some good insights.

As mentioned though, a bit outdated.

The authors provide an excellent overview of what to expect when embarking upon the implementation of an enterprise resource planning system like SAP. They provide thoughtful insight on factors that should influence the decision to proceed with such a project as well as sufficient detail on the particulars of SAP.

An excellent introduction to SAP by people who live and breath it.

This book has excellent sections on Business Case, Functionality (showing the links between modules, not just functions)and Deployment Options. It really helped me understand what I was going into implementing SAP for my company.

The Book has only two dissappointing sections. The chapter on process reengineering could have been better structured and applied, Hammer has better material. The walk through of methodology in chapters 17 and 18 was dry, uninspiring and again unapplied. More could have been written on ASAP.

This book is designed for managers and deciders who are in an evaluation phase and compare different ERP solutions. R/3 is a world-class integrated ERP solution and the less risky possible choice. If there is any doubt left, this book will convince the reader. SAP is not just a piece of software, it's also a culture and a club. Belonging to it is a real asset in someone's career.

Since taking off from Tegel ensconced in an ancient paperback of "Goodbye to Berlin" I've been looking for a repeat experience - saying farewell to an extraordinary city with a gift-wrapped miniature to hand. At Orly last week I finally had my wish. Lobe is a seriously good writer, so don't be taken in by the "chic(k) lit" cover. Not a paragraph, in fact barely a sentence of this brilliant 'Year-in' novel fails to be original, witty and engagingly modest at the same time. Her archetype American (Wisconsin) ingénue finds by degrees that the language barrier is the least of her cultural problems, with a resulting voyage of self-discovery (City of Light) that is a pleasure to witness. Austen, the Fieldings (both), yes even the Swan of Avon - make way: a splendid, up-to-date addition to classic romantic fiction (the 'taming' sub-genre) with just the right amount of character development to ensure a good, extended shelf-life. Chapeau ... et bravo!

How cliche, but ooh la la!.......2007-08-24

Firstly, for the reviews in the negative due to "too much sex, little substance about Paris"....WHAT did you think you were buying? A travel memoir?? Anyone can read the back cover explicitly explaining this book was more about one woman's search for a FRENCHMAN and the guts to move somewhere....well, foreign. I found Loeb's writing style hilarious...although, like some others, it started to wane a bit towards the end, however I thoroughly enjoyed this as a time passing whirlwind (decadant) trip through Paris. It's refreshing to find a novel NOT about your typical 21 year old's study abroad time on daddy's dime, and while this book is full of frivolous parties and casual sex, it's also much more 'adult' than many novels of the same genre. Overall, very good and worth its price.

So pretentious and full of herself! I purchased this to read on my trip to Paris and nearly threw it out. If not for her references to significant Paris monuments and some of the cultural nuances of the Parisians, I would have tossed this and given it only one star. I'm not terrible serious or prudish, however her writing really seem contrived in order to shock you.

I hate to be negative about a book....but.....
I also have to admit the book started out great. It was laugh-out-loud funny. Especially during the flight from NYC to Paris with her cat.
Shortly after that, it appeared to lose it's steam and my interest.
I did finish it...but I had to struggle.
If you're into those stiletto heels, looking for Mr. Right by romping in bed with every male that comes along (and sometimes two)and you're fine with reading a novel that lacks any "substance" with a main character that should have "shallow" for her middle name.....then this book is for you!

The 373 U-boats which saw service in WW1 accounted for 6,394 merchant ships with a combined tonnage of over 11 million tonnes. In addition they sank 100 enemy warships - including 10 Battleships. By comparison, the 1,169 U-Boats operating during WW2 sank 2,840 merchant ships with a combined tonnage of over 14 million tonnes and 149 enemy warship including 7 Aircraft Carriers. And those are just the opening comments from this excellent book.

From the earliest German submersible craft built in 1850 to the 12 vessels which are still in service with the modern Bundesmarine, this book will tell you almost everything you ever wanted to know about the German submarine. With plans, drawings and photographs, the U-Boats are listed in alpha-numeric order with all the technical information relevant to the specific vessel. These details are followed by the fate of each craft.

As a junior officer, Dr Möller served briefly on both the Tirpitz and a type XXI U-boat during WW2 and is one of Germany's leading authorities on the subject of the U-Boat. I congratulate him on an excellent work.

Great accompaniment to the movie.......2004-08-17

The book is very much a diary about the reef filming expedition with a strong environmental slant. Although I don't always like the author's writing style, the book gave me fascinating insight into underwater filming. It details the problems involved in filming with a heavy, huge IMAX camera whose noisy motor and strong lights rather chase away than attract animals. It shows how much time goes into a short footage at 300 feet depth, namely 15 minutes stay, 3 hours decompression, and days of filming with a camera that allows no more than 3 minutes of film at a time before the divers have to surface and reload. The book does not elaborate on the problems but nicely illuminates the filming process for the layperson.

Text and photographs go beyond the reefs and include people involved, for example the people of Fiji, their life and traditions and how Jean-Michel Cousteau helps them understand and protect their reefs.

Special one- or two-page sections explain a variety of related topics: the history of scuba, symbiosis between reefs and mangroves, the Reef Check Organization, taxonomy and others.

In the main text, the author sometimes wanders off the subject into Darwin's philosophy and geological history before he returns to details of the expedition. So, at times, the book seems a bit unfocused, but the overall information is great. That's why I gave the book 5 stars.

Anyone interested in the filming process and the environmental problems that reefs face, will enjoy this book.

Fascinating...I'd Love to Have Been There!.......2003-07-19

This lovely book is a companion to the IMAX film Coral Reef Adventure. It chronicles the filming of the movie and provides a lot of info on coral reefs and their current dire state. It makes me, an aquaphobe, want to learn to dive. I gotta see the movie now. Anyone interested in reefs will wwant this book.
