This fresh book on German public takeover law is the best available introduction to this specialty of takeover law. It is concise, yet complete. The charts and tables as well as timelines greatly help understanding the complex legal matter. The introduction comes with the English and German versions of the statutory materials - in synoptical format. This is most helpful and must not be missed.

This book would make an excellent text for any undergraduate analytical chemistry course. It represents the real world applications of a variety of analytical techniques. As a chemist in a pharmaceutical lab and an associate faculty member, I highly recommend this text/reference.

This is, no question, the best book that I've encountered in the entire field of semiconductor physics. It is expertly organized and indexed, easy to follow, complete in its treatment of electrical and materials-science aspects of III-V semiconductor production and measurement, well-written ... Worth every penny if you even have the most remote interest in the subject.

Very useful text for semiconductor crystal growers.......2001-07-07

Doping is a big big issue in semiconductors; this text does appreciable justice in it's treatment of the issue. In addition, Schubert treats heterostructure physics appreciably well (in fact better than many textbooks on semiconductor physics !). Perusal of this book has proved very rewarding for me, and I expect it will do the same wonder for you too.

A man has always thought the Kennedy Camelot was, in fact, a public relations driven myth. He thinks Jack Kennedy was a do nothing Congressman and Senator, not to mention priapic. Because of this he believes "ask what you can do for your country" is a joke. And yet, everytime he turns on the television he sees a retrospective of Jack or Bobby and, frequently, an update on Teddy and what a great senator he is. John Maxfield, the protagonist, has had it. He literally can't stand hearing all of that praise for those he feels are not worthy of that praise. This is a work of fiction, but every charge made by John Maxfield is documented in numerous other biographical works, many of which are annotated in the bibliography.

People in Richmond, VA love it. If you know anything about Richmond....well, an open mind would be an endangered species there. Perhaps I have said enough on that subject. More specifically, if you are looking for a book based in historical facts, look somewhere else.

RANT AND RAVE.......2001-08-23

If the Kennedys are indeed, driving you crazy, you will enjoy this book, although you may consider consulting a specialist to discover why one family that isn't your own is actually chipping away at your sanity. If you are looking for a partisan work, you will enjoy this book. And finally, if are you are interested in hearing any guy's opposing side to Camelot, this one will be a keeper for your library. If, however, you are more of a historical reader and interested in dissecting the Kennedy story and comparing notated facts to make your decision, this is not the book for you. True the author uses actual sources and notates his bibliography but if you delve into said footnotes and care enough to look them up, they read like a movie review. Say Rex Reed writes "This film is the most fabulous flop..." You will probably see that quote on the one sheet in the theatre lobby "Rex Reed says this film is the most fabulous..." The commentary about Ted Kennedy's record in Mass. is incomplete at best. But it is one long rant and rave and fans of rants may dig it. All in all, I think that while the Kennedys may be driving Mr. Parker crazy, most people will have more concrete reasons for their stand on La Familia Kennedy than this particular book.

This book provides a wonderful guide on how one can live thier lives by a code of honor. This book should be required reading in high schools across the US. If only everyone thought and conducted themselves in the "warrior way", this country, this world would be so much better. It is this book and books such as ON COMBAT and ON KILLING by LT Col David Grossman, that provide a realistic point of view on how our society exsists. We need more "sheepdogs" and less sheep and wolves.

Those Who Protect the Rest of Us.......2007-02-27

In the aftermath of 9/11 and as part of the ongoing struggle in Iraq, we need to look once again at our ideas of soldiering, at our ideas about war fighting, and at the actions of many heroic people at the world trade center or the field in Pennsylvania. There are people, indeed most of us, who are basically sheep. We go to school, to work, shopping or whereever giving little thought to the potential of bad guys lurking out there. But out there they are. And we have the police, the firefighters, the Army and more to serve as a barrier between us.

This book is a collection of essays that help to define what a warrior is, and the stories that they tell are of situations where they have 'seen the elephant.' There are stories of military combat, of police work, of doing the best you can under bad situations.

I was reminded of the story of the open house at paratrooper school. One young man was talking to an older gentleman. 'I've made 25 jumps. I hear you were a paratrooper, how many jumps did you make?' 'Four', answers the old timer, 'Sicily, Salerno, Normandy, Netherlands.' That's the essense of this book.

Excellent overview from a diverse group of warriors........2006-06-16

Warriors is an excellent book that delivers a diverse group of viewpoints on what it means to be a warrior.

The most interesting aspect of this book to me was the different perspectives provided by the contributors based on their life experiences. On one hand, you have police officers, soldiers and martial artists; and on the other hand, you have those who were victims at some point in their life and who currently work with victims. Although they all seem to agree that we live in a world with dangerous people and each person is ultimately responsible for their own safety, they do not all agree on how to deal with those dangerous people. The one common element seems to be that this group of warriors all have their head out of the sand and are clearly focused on the world around them.

Some of the articles are absolutely fantastic, and some are marginally OK. That should be expected when you pull together such a diverse group.

When something bad happens (i.e. gunfire or catastrophe) there are those who run toward it and those who run away. The people featured in this book are the ones who run toward danger. If you are trying to understand why, this is a great place to start.

I bought this from Loren Christensen's website and he signed it. It a fantastic book written by warriors from the military, the police, martial arts and other places. Most are incredible articles that tell you what it's like to be a warrior in their respective fields. I like Loren's articles but then I've bought most of his books. I highly recommend this book and On Combat too.

Warriors is a fabulous book that should be read by every cop, soldier and relative of one. Christensen wrote ON COMBAT with Col. Dave Grossman and that book should also be in every warrior's library.

Somehow Christensen got some of the top warriors in the country to write an article for this book. There is something in it for military people, law enforcement, and martial artists.

Some of the articles will stick in your mind for a long time. I'm thankful that there are men and women out there who are willing to do the right thing for others at a time when there are so many self-serving whimps who complain about police officers, President Bush and our military, but don't have the guts to put it on the line.

Thank God we have warriors.

Cover More Years, Please!.......2003-07-25

Some of the chapters in "1968" were slow, tedious, and boring--especially if they were edited in the 1980s or 1990s, long after the year passed. The chapters on Germany and France were difficult to say the least and somehow it appears that the editors were not first-hand witnesses to these events. They stop short of describing accurate details and in some cases are too wordy and don't connect well with the reader--possibly for the sake of political correctness. If you are expecting a gripping, fascinating account of 1968, a year that changed the world forever, you will be disappointed. Beware of editors that don't know how to write historical facts without losing their audience.
