This book contains so much information about telecom systems that i dare not add anything to it. From the history of first telephone to computer telephony, from area code directory to list of system manufacturers' email address, it covers a wide range of topics and terminologies, some briefly and some in depth, that telecommunication managers should at least be familiar with.

However, it reads like an encyclopedia. from its title of "business telecom systems: a guide to choosing the best technologies and services", i expected to learn not only about telecom components but also how these components work together to make up a system and how that system maps to business processes. after all, most readers are not interested in the technology per se, but how the technology helps businesses.

The book is not meant to be read cover to cover. at the same time, it is not to be used as a reference. i also found a few HTML tags in the passages as if they were cut and pasted from a web site. all in all, the information is useful and bountiful. but i felt that those same information could have been better packaged and presented.

In western North Dakota, John Pickett is about to lose the ranch he loves. While visiting The Chateau, a local resort, he intercepts a phone call from the secretary of Massachusetts Senator Sheila Montgomery. Thinking fast, John offers to let the senator stay at his ranch. With the money he'll make, he can hold off his creditors a bit longer.

The outbreak of WW1 in 1914 found the British Army unready in many respects for a new age of warfare. However, the British led the world in the personal equipment worn by the infantryman thanks to an American officer named Anson Mills and the skills of the company created to produce his design - the 1908 equipment set made in woven cotton web. By the outbreak of WW2, the British infantry had new 1937 pattern equipment, whose design reflected a new generation of weapons and tactics. This proved unequal to the special demands of jungle warfare in the Far East: so 1944 saw yet another set of kit. In this book the author offers collectors and students of militaria a detailed review of these infantry equipments which spanned the British soldier's combat experience throughout most of the 20th century.

And I thought I knew all there was to know about British Web Equipment.This book told me otherwise.For such a slim volume it contains a wealth of information and it is superbly illustrated with lavish colour photography.It deals primarily with the basic web sets and does not cover ancillary equipment such as Respirator bags,Map cases etc.However this is another subject entirely and I look forward eagerly to a companion volume.Martin Brayley's works include,WW2 Tommy and KD&JG both essential works on the subject so you are assured of quality.This is a superb book at a great price and it has become my Bible of British Webbing.

This book is a sequel to the classic work, Fallacies: Selected Papers 1972 - 1982 (1989), coauthored with Douglas Walton, and is a further major contribution to the Woods-Walton Approach to the logic of fallacious reasoning. No one disputes the formitable accomplishments of modern mathematical logic; but equally no one seriously believes that classical logic is much good for the analysis of real-life argument and reasoning, or that it is the best place in which to transact the business of fallacy theory. One of the principal innovations of the book is its adaptation of systems of logic to the particular requirements of fallacy theory. The book develops logical analyses which take into account such features of real-life cognitive agency as resource- availability and computational complexity. The book is also an invitation to interdisciplinary cooperation, linking the relevant branches of logic with computer science, cognitive psychology, neurobiology, forensic science, linguistics, (including conversational analysis and discourse analysis) and argumentation theory. Another distinctive feature of Woodsâ€™ approach to fallacy theory is its recognition of the highly defeasible character of fallacy-attributions. On this view, reasoning is fallacious only in relation to the cognitive target that the reasoner seeks to hit, the standard required for its attainment, and the cognitive resources available to the reasoner. Accordingly the so-called Standard Treatment of the fallacies is seriously misconceived. Getting the fallacies right is an extremely important task for logic, indeed a central part of its mandate. It is a task much more avowed than performed. The Death of Argument is a major attempt to redress this inbalance.
