Practical, Relevant, and To The Point.......2007-09-11

This book is not a completely from-scratch lesson in accounting; but for anyone with at least some minimal exposure to accounting concepts, it is a very practical and organized way to get through the fundamentals as a tool for business, MBA prep, or general knowledge. The concepts are written in a way that is accessible and relevant to everyday life at the office. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick yet thorough way to get with the program!

Great Refresher!!!.......2007-08-27

I think Dr. Label's book offered me a great refresher in basic accounting. I took accounting, over thirty years ago. Many changes have occurred since then, however, this books sums up basic accounting as I remember. I have also used this book to help me explain accounting concepts to clients. Often accountants expect others to understand exactly what we are saying, however, all clients do not have the same level of accounting knowledge.

I think the layout works well. The concepts are explained, a QUICK Tip is provided, an Alert! is given, followed by a Quiz. This technique worked well, for me.

Making Friends in the Finance Dept........2007-08-14

In an effort to effectively track budget, finance and marketing (historically, not the most compatible of departments) are working together to accurately track and define accrual and prepaid expenses for marketing activities, and for once I TRUELY KNEW what the heck they were talking about! It is all falling into place. Thank you. While accounting was relatively easy to learn when I was in school, it's another story now that I am actually working KNEE-DEEP in it. While this book is not for absolute beginners, it does a great job of providing simple explanations and examples for those already familiar with the basic terminology.

I am very happy with this book. I have recently returned to college (having just celebrated the 23rd anniversary of my high school graduation). I needed a text to help me study for the CLEP accounting test. This book was exactly what the Doctor ordered... Accounting for Non Accountants along with the CLEP Study Guide was all I needed to pass (on the first attempt) with flying colors. Might I also add that I absolutely HATE accounting and I did very poorly in my H.S. accounting class 20 + years ago. Dr. Label's explanations are simple and straigt forward. The step by step examples are easy to digest and make sense as they build on each other. Very easy to grasp the GAAP...

Topics to be pertinent, concise and very well developed. The introduction leading to the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and so forth are all in logical order - with one topic building on the previous. This book is heavenly in every aspect. The thoughts, ideas, characters, and events in this series of short stories are nothing short of phenomenal. Phil has a way of expressing ideas both uncomfortable and awkward, but at the same time magical, original, and sometimes euphoric.

If you don't read this book, you don't love God. So please, if you want to show your love for God (and Philip J. Reed) then buy this book and read it immediately. And then read it again. And again. Actually, never read another book again, this is all you need right here.

Decent catalog of significant events and people.......1999-04-27

While it would be easy to fill dozens of volumes in a "Cold War Encylopedia," this one succeeds in a more difficult task. Thomas Arms manages to put almost 700 entries into one volume and still make it worth reading. Arms provides entries on laws, people, policies, and organizations that shaped the Cold War. Arms arranges all entries in the classic "inverted pyramid" style which allows the reader to review the most important information first. Arms also provides cross-references from one entry to another where applicable and a bibliography at the end of most entries. This is an important reference when conducting any research on a time period which is already becoming one of history's most widely debated and discussed issues. This one has it all, from the key players and events to some of the more minor and aomost forgotten ones. Comprehensive companion to have around when reading anything abou this period and its participants. Recommended.

Awesome Book.......2001-04-16

This is the kind of book a child can easily learn about the major topics of the Cold War. Al they have to do is use it like a regular encyclopedia. Also it is a book someone can read to learn more about the Cold War. Also if your a veteran from of the wars during the Cold War you would read this and have nostalgia. This overall is a great book.
