This sixth volume in the series "Integrity and Internal Control in Information Systems" is a state-of-the-art collection of papers in the area of integrity within information systems and the relationship between integrity in information systems and the overall internal control systems that are established in organizations to support corporate governance codes.
Integrity and Internal Control in Information Systems VI represents a continuation of the dialogue between information security specialists, internal control specialists and the business community. Common sense help.......2006-10-03

If you haven't updated your resume in awhile this text offers a number of updated formats and ideas. It includes excellent common sense check lists and strategies. The key to this book is that it emphasizes that you are selling yourself in your cover letter and resume and offers clear ways to do so. Overall I found it easy to read and implement.

Quite a Few "Starters".......2006-08-08

While I wouldn't say every resume in this book is top-notch, there are many of them that are quite well done. Two in my specific area of expertise gave me the "boost" to make my own resume look much better. I would say this book is definitely worth it if you find your resume not getting the response you had hoped for even though your skills are up-to-date.

There's also quite a lot of writing on how to position yourself better on your resume and in your cover letter. While a lot of this information is available on the Internet (and a few of the resources are outdated), it is handy to have it all together in this package as a "reinforcement."

Overall, worth a pickup if you feel stuck in your job hunt.

I found this to be more useful than other resume books because it was current AND was geared towards our industry. The reference samples and layout ideas gave me the "jump start" I needed.

A Good Advanced Overview.......2001-08-17

North's seem to have a penchant for writing overview books, but this example is superior than his more recent "Observing the Moon" overview of that subject.

Many of the things that North deals with in this book - optics, hardware, seeing, astrophotography, stellar objects (Sun, comets, planets, moon, etc) - have been done in other books, but North is able to take them to the next level rather effectively. Somehow he's able to put just the right amount in each chapter this time.

Furthermore, North has been able to include in this book chapters in spectroscopy and radio astronomy that I've not seen in other books of this type.

The only issue I have with the book is that some of his information now seems a bit dated. There is not much that can be done about that in such a fast moving field as Astronomy. Having said that, I think that "Advanced Amateur Astronomy" manages to raise the bar for books of this type.

Recommended. Heck, its on MY Wish List! 8-)

Very Good Book.......1998-06-18

The author covers quite a range of material, in a very easy to read style. He goes into enough depth to make it a very practical book. Cover basic collimation issues, telescope design- a great book for Amateur Telescope Makers.

There's nice number of pointers on astrophotography also. Especially for plaetary/lunar. Some material is perhaps a little dated. Not much on digital image processing, but a good section nonetheless.

Finally he concludes with neat radio telescope projects and how amateurs can do more scientific type work of benefit.

The truly greatest escapes!.......2005-11-23

Henry Chancellor has written a book about the bad boys of Colditz - the true Houdini escape artists! Although they weren't as successful as Houdini, they showed absolute brillance in devising ways to escape out of Colditz. And the British agents in England were just as devious with respect to smuggling in contraband.

Chancellor deftly writes about the many escape attempts by the French, the Poles, the Brits and others. He captures a "you are there" feel as he describes their fears, their boredoms, and for some, there escape into lunacy.

If you have read other books about escape attempts from the German Stalags, then you are in for a treat with this book. Chancellor also describes how each side (German and Allied) held mutual respect for one another except toward the end of the war when things began to turn nasty for the Germans.

An excellent book and worthy of anyone's library.

First person accounts of events and individuals, both important and ordinary, provide remarkable insight into the history of this most fascinating of all the Native American tribes of the South Plains. Colonel Nye does a good job of providing just enough explanatory comment, while leaving most of the story telling to the Kiowas themselves. If you were under the impression that the only Plains Indians worthy of mention were the Sioux, Comanches, Cheyennes and Apaches, you need to read this book.
