Can I have my money back? There was little on this tape that was either new or motivating. Also included were things such as time management, how to organize your DayTimer, etc. I was hoping for something that would help me deep clean my home, not my office. It was not helpful for my purposes. Unless you're looking for help at the office, save your money.

I thought I was beyond repair... but Ab is so humerous and the live tape lets you laugh along with others who are obviously in the same boat. The systems he discusses to de-clutter your life are terrific for someone like myself who just can't seem to get past the clutter of paper both at home and in the office. I am tackeling closets, attics, garages and showing no mercy. I highly recommend this tape for anyone who needs motivation for getting the job done.... which you know in your heart has needed to be done for months/years.

Ab Jackson is humerous and upbeat in all his seminars/tapes. He makes a bothersome task enjoyable to tackle with many simple and logical tips. "Organize Your Life and Get Rid of Clutter" is perfect for anyone that would like to get rid of clutter and become more organized. He addresses many areas and introduces many 'systems' to help people become more organized. This tape is not only a delight and funny to listen to, but in just one day, I have already began to reduce the clutter in my life. I even found out the "why" behind what caused me to become a "clutterholic"! I give it a five star rating and would recommend it to anyone that would like to improve their organizational skills!

In this collective biography of the more than 1,200 individuals who engaged in astronomical
research, teaching, or practice in the United States between 1859 and 1940, John Lankford
paints a meticulously documented portrait of this community. He tallies the number with and
without doctorates, the number that taught in colleges or universities versus those involved in
industrial or government work, the number of women versus men, and so on. He also
addresses the crucial question of power within the community—what it meant, which
astronomers had it, and what they did with it.

Drawing on more than a decade of archival research, Lankford attends to the numbers in
concise tables and figures, and takes care to focus through biographical sketches on the
human beings his data represent. This dual approach convincingly illustrates how the changing
structure of a scientific community can alter both the career trajectories of its members and the
nature of the scientific research they choose to pursue.

This book is heavy on statistics and light on characters........1997-10-11

As one who enjoys both the science of astronomy and the characters behind the science, this book is little more than a literary exercise in statistical massage. From it's introductory catagorization of rank and file astronomers to those of elite status, Lankford continues to regurgitate the numbers of jobs available, the numbers of observatories, the numbers of doctorate degrees, the number of this, the number of that, and on and on and on and on. With few exceptions there is nothing in the way of personal insight to the astronomers themselves and even less on their accomplishments. While Lankford does a good job of delineating the evolution from astrometry to astronomy to astrophysics, he offers nothing in the way of imagination, insight, and discovery. I suppose credit is due to Mr. Lankford for taking the time to input all of this archive data into a software program (which he obviously did), but I would much rather of had access to that software as reference material than wade through page after page from this shallow perspective of one of the most intriguing and wonderful of all sciences, astronomy.

This book, by one of the most pre-eminent scholors in the field of paleontology, is not only accurate and thoroughly thought out, but is enjoyable to boot. It is a "must read" for anybody interested in paleontology; especially if they are from the Mid-Atlantic region.

Gee, but you ought to have seen them pounce on it, and bite it and tear it up, and then the hornets woke up, and they didn't do a thing to that mess of hyenas.

As a former U.S. Army Tanker in the late 1960s I could empathize with the tankers daily routine of movement and maintenance. The long underpaid overworked hours one puts in as a track-head. Being couped up, nearly blind in a turret wondering what was going on outside of one' pony. I was truly amazed at the bravery and dedication of the WWII Marine Corp. Tankers, the appalling carnage they witnessed and the pathos of combat. The author brought all this and more to life in his writing. At times I got sick from the bloody battles they and the infantry fought in the Pacific Theater. Having served in the far east I can imagine easily the mental and physical toll the heat, humidity and insects took on one's mind and body. I feel that the political leaders of this county should read this before committing us to war.

Worth It, But It's a Cheaply-Done Reprint.......2006-08-20

The book's information is priceless, and I AM glad I bought it, BUT Amazon dropped the ball by not revealing the actual publisher. This is a reprint done by DaCapo Press, and they cut corners. The pictures are terrible and nearly indistinct. The slip-cover is fine, but you look at the spine, and there's one word printed : Gilbert. The quality of the binding is good, but these guys didn't give this wonderful book the treatment it deserved.

If this all that we have, and if you are a collector of US Marine histories, then you'd better grab up that last copy. Be forewarned, though, that this is a subpar reissue of the original Combined Press edition.

Confirm the publisher before buying.......2006-02-07

As a retired Marine officer, amateur historian and former newsman, I can say Gilbert is a knowledgeable and facile writer. I thoroughly enjoyed "Marine Tank Battles in Korea." Gilbert knows how to write popular history, and he gets it right. This volume reads beautifully, however the half-tones are the pits. The original version of this volume was published by Combined Publishing on quality paper with excellent photo reproduction. The volume I received from Amazon was not the Combined Publishing edition, but one by DaCapo Press. It looks like a photocopy of the original done overseas. Most of the pictures are muddy and indecipherable. Useless as a modeling reference, but great reading.

Outstanding Book on WW2 Tank Warfare in the Pacific.......2005-10-23

This superb book gives exciting descriptions of tank battles fought by Marines during WW2. Since both the American and Japanese used tanks in an infantry support role, most battles were fought with small groups of tanks. The book describes the battles in which tanks were used in support of infantry. This includes use of Japanese tanks in support of their infantry against the US troops. The book also details the few, brief tank vs. tank battles between the US Marines and the Japanese. The author does an excellent job describing the overall battle of each island, the roll of the American and Japanese tanks in them., and first hand accounts of small actions. The book also includes about 100 photographs which provide a good idea what much of the terrain and combat were like. This is a must have for anyone interested in armored warfare or the WW2 war in the Pacific. I only wish I could find a comparable book on the US army tank battles in the Pacific.

Great book on a little noted subject..........2001-04-13

Marines and tanks? Who would ever write about this? This book is long overdue. Every book on the Pacific was mentions breifly the role Marine Tanks. This book covers that gap in grand style. I shows the development of Marine Armor, and its employemnt in some of the bloodiest battles of the war. This book on the Corps unsung heros, is faced paced and very easy to read. If you read other books about the USMC in the Pacific, read this very worthy book.

Splendid book.......2005-06-06

This compact volume gives an excellent description of US Marine Corps armor doctrine, equipment, training, organization, operations and personnel in WWII. Following the Osprey Warrior series format, it uses an imaginary Marine tanker as the vehicle for telling about Marine armor and tankers. The books in very well-written and packed with information. It appears to draw heavily on the research that the author used for some of his earlier (and also superb) books on the subject.

My only significant complaint is that the color plates are adequate but not up to Osprey's usual standards. This might have caused me to reduce my rating by one star, but the excellence of the rest of the book still justified five stars in my opinion.

This book is definitely worth purchasing if the subject interests you.
