I can sum it up in 3 letters...W-O-W! I could not believe the impact that some of the techniques had on the participants. Dave's tricks can be used to "spice-up" what would be a boring, uninteresting topic. Although a lot of the material is geared toward the buisness world, the tricks presented in the book can be used in a variety of settings.

I am an instructor in the public safety field. Believe me when I say that we have several "routine" topics that are taught over and over and over. You should have seen the look on their faces when I told them that we were going to write "love letters" to emphasize the importance of punctuation.

If you are a trainer/instructor, you have got to get this book!!

This book describes superconductor/two-dimensional-electron-gas (2DEG) structures with the aim of providing a better understanding of their transport properties. The two-dimensional electron gas used for the structures described here is buried either in a III-V semiconductor heterostructure or in an inversion layer at the surface. First, the properties of a single superconductor/2DEG structure are discussed on the basis of Andreev reflection and the proximity effect. Then, the properties of superconductor/2DEG Josephson junctions are treated. The last part of the book discusses the control of junctions using gate electrodes or injection currents, and the physical effects observed in these junctions.

A Must Read Series.......2007-10-09

Roland is the last living member of a knightly order known as gunslingers. The world he lives in is quite different from our own, yet it bears striking similarities to it. Politically organized along the lines of a feudal society, it shares technological and social characteristics with the American Old West, as well as bearing magical powers and the relics of a highly advanced, but long vanished, society. Roland's quest is to find the Dark Tower, a fabled building said to either be, or be located at, the nexus of all universes. Roland's world is said to have "moved on," and indeed it appears to be coming apart at the seams -- mighty nations are being torn apart by war, entire cities and regions vanish from the face of the earth without a trace, time does not flow in an orderly fashion; even the sun sometimes rises in the north and sets in the east. As the series opens, Roland's motives, goals, and even his age are unclear, though later installments shed light on these mysteries.

This series was mostly inspired by the epic poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" by Robert Browning, the full text of which was included in an appendix to the final volume. In the preface to the revised 2003 edition of The Gunslinger, King also identifies The Lord of the Rings, the Arthurian Legend, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly as inspirations. He identifies Clint Eastwood's "Man with No Name" character as one of the major inspirations for Roland. King's style of location names in the series, such as Mid-World, and his development of a unique language abstract to our own, are also influenced by J. R. R. Tolkien's work.

The Dark Tower is often described in the novels as a real structure, and also as a metaphor. Part of Roland's fictional quest lies in discovering the true nature of the Tower. The series incorporates themes from multiple genres, including fantasy fiction, science fantasy, horror, and western elements. King has described the series as his magnum opus; beside the seven novels that comprise the series proper, many of his other books are related to the story, introducing concepts and characters that come into play as the series progresses.

I bought by mistake Wizard and Glass, and I got so hooked to it that I have not stopped till I've bought the whole series of the Dark Tower!!

Forget books 5, 6, and 7. These are the real Dark Tower novels........2007-08-25

Man, these four novels are great! Stephen king did an excellent job on the first 4 entries in The Dark Tower series. But I would advise you to stop here and avoid the last three books and do not read them, because they are crap and they suck. Again, I say that you'll really like these four books. They have great depth in their storytelling. But, you will have to draw your own conclusions for what happens next after part 4. this set is highly recommended.

What more is there to say? The guy is a genius (King) and the dark tower series is like no other. A must have for any sci-fi addict or just pure fantasy.

I have read all of Stephen Kings books in the Gunslinger or Dark Tower series. I sent this boxed set to a friend who needed an escape from reality for a while. It was received and after the second book was read couldn't put it down. I loved every second and dreaded it ending. I think it is one of Stephen Kings best accomplishments!!!A must for any SciFi fan!!

Great book--inspiring and spiritual........1997-10-16

Max Cleland's personal narrative is really terrific and makes a wonderful contrast to other narratives from the Vietnam era. Cleland suffers in war, but then struggles to find his soul and to transcend the pain of human existence through the perspective of religion and through religious belief. I have used this book as an interesting contrast with the cliche- ridden narrative by Ron Kovic, a volume written with a professional writer and conforming to the made-to-order "Vietnam-as-victim" formula. Students need to know that many American men came out of the tragedy of war better, stronger, more spiritual people than they went in; the "corruption of innocence" motif may sell in Hollywood and elswhere, but it does not conform with the actual experience of veterans--so says this book and so say the veterans polled in 1980 by the veterans administration. As I say, this is a story too seldom told and heard even less. Another uplifting story is _For God and Country_ by Rick Eilert, a man who found the veterans hospital folks to be concerned and caring and discovered that there were true heroes in the beds of the VA....Not victims, but heroes. Some day, somebody will make films about the experiences of Cleland (now a US Senator) and Eilert. ---Peter Rollins, Vietnam vet and admirer of these two wounded veterans

This is a very interesting piece of work. It chronicles the lives of six different women from all walks of life with one common thread. All were at one time women with serious drug abuse problems. Their looks, personality, background, and ages are dissimilar but each life has an important message to convey. Because the book was written in the early 70's, the drugs at the time were very different from the drug abuse that is today but the book is still important and relevant. You care about these women and care about their lives. The author views them as people and not just case histories, though the book is basically six case histories. Though the book is not exactly uplifting, it is hard to put down, and harder not to think about once you've finished reading it. One can't help but wonder what became of their lives, if they stayed off drugs, where they are today, if they are alive today. And this book is a message of hope. No matter where you are in the abyss, it IS possible to lift yourself out and begin again.

An inspiring book that is a must read..........2006-04-21

Having read this starting yesterday, I'm halfway through this book. It's is a definite page-turner. The Lord had certainly blessed Paul Pressler with the giftedness to see liberalism for what it was and still is, the courage to stand up to it, the wisdom to strategize courses of actions, and the networking of friends, colleagues and rivals on both sides of the theological camp, while remaining focused to the heart of the matter - the truth of the Gospel and the salvation of souls.

Currently living in liberal Bay Area where conservative Christianity is muted or mutated by postmodern secularists, atheists, agnostics, pantheists, liberals, New Agers, Buddhists, etc. and where a number of Southern Baptist churches are pastored by women, dually-aligned with liberal Baptist denominations, and simply doctrinally shallow, I read the story of Paul Pressler with great admiration and inspiration.

Pressler Embarrasses Self & SBC.......2002-12-13

Paul Pressler embarrasses himself in this disgraceful memoir. The story of his "decision" to turn down President Bush's offer of a government post is laughable in it's inaccuracy. This is just one example of Pressler's egomaniacal and self delusive re-interpretation of his own history. He exemplifies everything that non-Baptists falsely believe are typical of the Southern Baptist Convention, to it's shame.

A Narrow View of the Christian Faith.......2001-09-07

Judge Pressler's views in "A Hill On Which to Die..." though may be sincere, lacks the breadth of theological understanding of the various expressions of Christianity. Pressler, like many Fundamentalists, fail to accept that much of our understanding of scripture and theological concepts are interpretations and very few of the arguments that he is willing to die for would effect salvific truth. Every sincere believer and every denomination thinks in one way or another they have the "correct" view and interpretation. The problem is not believing. Pressler is correct in his argument that one must stand firm in one's belief. However, his failure in the book is the adequate display of the fact that Christianity, even among faithful Southern Baptists, is broader than the narrow views which he holds. His concepts of Christianity would undoubtedly reject the Christianity of C. S. Lewis (Anglican), J. I. Packer (Anglican), Eugene Peterson (Presbyterian), Mother Theresa (Roman Catholic), and the vast majority of both main line and evangelical Christianity. For these reasons and others, I would not recommend this book.

This book has an "I" problem. The Judge repeatedly uses "I" did..., "I" thought..., "I" knew ..., "I".... It seems egotistical, judgmental - and paranoid. We have experienced the whole thing, first hand...he puts a lot of spins on the truth! Christian love doesn't do things this way!

This is the book the Pharisees would have written about how they dealt with Jesus...talk about spin. Paul Pressler and Paige Patterson are the Annas and Caiphas of the twentieth century...they know scripture backwards and forwards, but they completely miss the message of love and grace and forgiveness preached by Jesus Himself.

The 36 limo stories are really very, very funny! I always wondered what went on in the back of those huge, super-stretch limos and now I have some idea. Unbelievable! The stories are really hilarious! I think it would make a good movie, or TV mini-series with someone like, Leslie Nielson, or Jim Carey, or Robin Williams posing as the driver.

This book is really a gem, and I enjoyed reading it and laughing out loud..so much that people began to stare at me until I showed the cover!
