Errors, errors, errors galore.......2002-04-04

The author of the CD that came with the book did not bother to actually read the book, review the information on the CD, proofread and edit. There are SO MANY errors and inconsistencies between the two that if a prospective student with no accounting background were to use this book/CD set to set up an accounting system, it would be full of errors, assuming that the student didn't just give up in confusion and disgust. I would not recommend this book to anyone. In fact, if it were possible to give this book zero stars, I would.

Buy Mary Blewitts book instead. Milligan's book, not so good.......2000-08-28

Milligan lays out the process for you, but does very little in explaining what is going on within the process.

He pools a LOP right in with the noon shot. I didn't like that, The book draws no line between the noon shot, and determination of LP's and the the use of sight red. tables. He doesn't make it clear that you don't need S.R. tables when you do a noon shot.

I found myself asking when will I use these S.R. tables during the noon shot. He leaves out details when it comes to teaching the inexperinced.

I received this book from a friend as a suggested read. Once I got pass the first sentence, I was hoooked!!! I finished the book in two days. I ready to read another one.

I would say that I felt bad for the wife in this book, Jasmine...but that goes without saying. She shouldn't have allowed her husband into bullying her into this little threesome ordeal with this crazy chic, Monica. On the other hand, instead of James going to another woman to feed his sexual desires, he should have done it another way that wouldn't have allowed the marital couple to share their bed with anyone else.

And least of all, this no good, low down, whore of a woman manipulates all that cross her path - whether it be for money or for sex, unknowingly everyone falls to her feet. And bringing a baby into the picture...are you kidding me you psychotic chic?

Well written book that I managed to read in a few hours. I would read more books by this author.

It's actually quite unfortunate that after all these years, Amazon still doesn't allow the option of ZERO stars.

This has got to be one of the worst books that I have had the displeasure of reading in recent years (second only to She Touched My Soul). The plot was just all over the place...you could tell the author had continued to lose her way with the introduction of Tanya and Rico. Not a single character had one redeemable quality...by the time I got to the second half, I could have cared less about any of them (Monica, Jasmine, James and Sheila were just way too over the top). How many unplanned pregnancies can a 200 page book contain. I understand this is erotica (I'm not really a fan of the genre, but did enjoy 1 or 2 of Zane's books), but the crude language started on page 1 and didn't let up...EVER. The only positive thing I can say is that luckily I didn't spend a dime on this book, but of course I DID waste valuable hours and days of my life that I will never get back!!!

PS: How unfortunate that this "saga" was allowed to continue on!!!

dramatic thriller of a different kind.......2007-03-13

This novel has drama that deals with secrets being held and friendships being broken. Men and women alike encounter problems in relationships. Mayhem and near death happens as a result. Pasts are revealed and lives are shattered. A character uses sex as a ploy of her own obsessionsive behavior.
Samia and Nat are best friends. Samia has a secret that could cost her her friendship with Nat. She uses Nat's son to keep her secret and it all unfolds in the end with near death for Nat's family, even her most prized possession, her baby boy.
Why don't people understand that the ploys used to keep their secrets are worse than the secret themselves. Samia's past relationship was just that. She feared the worst and didn't trust her friendship she has with Nat.
In the end, Nat and Samia's friendship had changed and they were fighting hard to save it.
The most profound moment for me is when Dave shares the story of an accident that shattered his whole soul. He presented this story to a group of people who called themselves the Friendship Club. This story from Dave showed that we are sometimes so drawn into what's going on in our own lives that, in the larger scheme of things, their are people going through far worse. The Friendship Club was made to give people an outlet for their relationship and friendship problems.
It's a very good novel.

This book was very basic. It had a great concept but the author just didn't no where to go with this story. Nikole was a woman with so many opportunities but they never seemed to go right for her she's been used up by two men for most of her life and she is just patethic. She never has any interaction with her son and her father a Judge who doesn't even want to be bothered. This story went no where and in the end you just feel sorry for played out Nikole.

When I first started reading this book I thought I would end up hating Nikole's guts but as it turned out I didn't and in her mind she really felt justified from the past sins of her family. I kind of felt sorry for Nikole she made some really stupid choices and they came back to haunt her. C.J. Domino's characters are so true to life. I absolutely loved how realistic she wrote each and everyone of them. I especially loved Royce and hated Terrance this book was very well written if I could give her more stars I would. I can't wait to read the next one she writes.

Domino's Sideline Ho, Nikole Freeman is that chick and she stirs up nothing but deceit and drama. Who needs enemies when you have a friend like Nikole? Nikole has a lot going on. She seems to not only magnetize men, but be a magnet for horrible relationships: liars, cheaters, and abusers are her world. Nikole is a single mother. She has a son with Terrance, one of her current lovers, and no matter how he treats her, she will not let him go. Not even his certifiably crazy wife can stop her. Nikole is pregnant again. This time by Brian, her best friend, Bebe's, husband. And, believe me, that is not even the half of it. Every single aspect of Nikole's life is a battle. Is she reaping what she has sown? Will all her selfish and deceitful ways come back to bite her in the butt?

C.J. Domino did a wonderful job with Nikole's story. In Nikole, she created a character you will love to hate and even though you may pray to never have a "friend" like her, you hope she gets it together in the end. Sideline Ho is a definite page-turner. The pages and scenes were fast-paced and popped with scandal and drama. The characterization, imagery, and editing were strong. All the characters were lively and well-developed. Nikole and friends had so much going on at all times, I could not put the book down. I am definitely looking forward to future books by C.J. Domino.

Memorable and Exquisite.......2007-05-12

I read this book about 7 or 8 years ago but I think of it often. It's beautifully written and translated and is very powerful. I highly recommend it for anyone dealing with the loss of a child or anyone who knows someone who's lost a child. When I read the book I mourned for these little girls and their parents. It's clear to the reader how loved Mathilde and Elise were, how very special they were to their mom and dad. Genevieve Jurgensen captures a parent's love for a child exquisitely. This book is the most memorable book that I have ever read.

After September 11, 2001...........2001-09-23

On Friday, September 21, as I was driving listening to Ira Glass's This American Life on National Public Radio, a lengthy portion of this book was read. I had to pull over to the side of the road, unable to continue until it was finished. For those of us so far away from the site of last week's horror, connected only through television, radio, and print, it has been hard to move from the numbers to the names to the lives of all those lost. Our prayers have been frequent and our thoughts constant but we have still been removed. This helped me and I hope it will help us all.

A lovely and valuable book. In the glimpses of her children that Ms. Jurgensen gives us in an effort to have us know what was lost, anyone who has ever loved a child must see and feel that child -the little chubby hand in yours, the legs wrapped tight around your waist. This book also gave me much to think about on the subject of compassion - for those you care about as well as those you see in passing and will likely never see again.

This book looks a parent's worst nightmare full in the face, so is not for everyone. But your openness to the wrenching pain of this story will reward you with the realization that, woven throughout this nightmare of sadness and loss is hope, survival, love, connection and happiness. Nightmare though it is, it's a beautiful thing.

Jurgenson writes of something most of us hope never to experience -- the death of not one, but both of her children. Not a topic that ordinarily beckons for one's enthusiastic attention, this book caught mine when I heard one of her letters (the book is comprised of letters written to a friend, telling this story more than 10 years after the accident) read on the public radio show, This American Life. Jurgenson writes to this friend with terrible honesty about the entire emotional spectrum, reflects philosophically on the pain of existence, and demonstrates throughout it all that, somehow, one figures out how to carry on. And it all comes packaged in the most beautiful, provocative prose -- a translation, yes, but a very good one, I think.

It strikes me as a "must read" for anyone seeking greater understanding of the difficult inner dynamics of such a loss, whether personal or otherwise. Really, though, anyone interested in literary self-portraiture, psychology, or simply the human condition would likely find this book fascinating, riveting, and heart-rending. Highly recommended.
