Lynn Eisaguirre knows the real world of work. Her examples are startingly realistic! Most importantly, she gives clear strategies for viewing and handling conflict differently. In the end, after reading this book, you will probably become an advocate and tell others that "conflict is good!" Lynn makes you think! Lynne's book arrived at the perfect time! As hospitals deal with nursing shortages as well as other shortages of healthcare workers in the U.S., managers need to make the most of the staff we have. We owe it to our patients and the physicians we serve to be the best we can be each day. The attempt to stretch ourselves to cover all the requirements of safe patient care with overwhelming budget cuts have led to short fuses and easy frustrations on a daily basis in acute healthcare.
The Power of a Good Fight brings hope and ease to managers in what often seems to be an unmanageable work world, by simply and powerfully taking us step by step through all the What-ifs we face. Ahhh...It feels like having a coach at my side. I liked the book and plan to pass it around!

Every woman in the work world should read the Power Of A Good Fight. I am not a huge fan of business books, but a close friend recommended I read this book. I am glad she did.

Lynne Eisaguirre explains why actually starting a fight can be the best way to improve your work environment. Eisaguirre's advice is right on target. I tried out her suggestions and have had a great response. From now on, I plan to address work place issues as they come up, just as I always have in my personal life.

Lynne Eisaguirre's 5 personality styles describe everyone I've ever worked with! I have had conflicts and situations at work that would have been be better, more productive, and a LOT less stressful if I had read this book earlier. I learned how to approach someone better and how to be more confrontable myself! She really produces creativity out of every situation. If I had known years ago what Lynne Eisaguirre writes about the various conflict styles in her book, The Power Of A Good Fight, my career and life would have moved along a less rocky road. I now understand that one partner I worked for had a 'roadrunner' approach to conflict resolution; the other a 'pitbull' approach. Although I realize possessing this information would not have changed the way my bosses approached conflict resolution, I'm certain what would have changed, was my approach to them and their conflicts. The Power Of A Good Fight offers valuable knowledge and skills about effectively dealing with different approaches to conflict resolution. This would have improved my career and life had I known then what Lynne tells me now in The Power Of A Good Fight.

Medicaid's Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment Program (EPSDT) began in 1968 with high hopes of bringing preventive and curative health services to poor children. By 1975, the program was being described as "abominable," and even its advocates conceded that its record had "not been impressive." Although it provided health care for millions of children who would otherwise not have received it, the program was misconceived from the start and poorly implemented thereafter.

A Cowman's Wife is a fasinating account of one woman's adventure in south-western Arizona. Mary Kidder Rak captured this chapter of her life in very personal and humurous terms as well as giving us a glimpse into ranch life in the early 1900's. If you're looking for a book that gives you an up close and personal view of the life of an adventurous woman or of life in the American SW., this is a must read! PS: Check your maps for the ranch Mary and her husband lived on, it's still a landmark!

The poetry and story telling of Buckshot Dot reflect the history of the southwest in its most authentic form. Her use of the language is exceptional and her dedication to creating the emotions and experiences of those who lived in the early days of the wild west make for a delightful read. Her videotape performance "Live From Pioneer" was taped at an authentic opera house moved from Prescott, Arizona where late 1800's performers there included the famous Lillie Langtry to its current home in a historical museum outside of Phoenix. Buckshot Dot's performance truly is compelling and brings each story poem to life as she becomes her characters. A piece of Americana that is unique and highly entertaining.

wm. marion reedy - a st. louis literary giant of the 20th ce.......1999-07-09

i am a grand, grand nephew of mr. reedy's! i have known of his lore and have long possessed the book reviewed here. it was written as a college thesis, i believe, by mr. putzel during his studies at washington u. here in st. louis.

i've long been amused by reedy's wit and daring, for st. louis was a very catholic, conservative town in the teens and twenties when his work flourished. fortunately for me, and unlike many irish families in town today, my entire family tree from its roots in clonmel, ireland to my grandparents here in st. louis have been carefully chronicled by the author.

as for reedy's contributions, carl sandburg and vachel lindsay (among others) apparently owed much of their introductory successes to reedy's "mirror", which was a literary journal of the day.

the security building in downtown st. louis continues to house businesses and professionals in its walls. at one time, my great, great uncle published his 20,000 subscriber journal for readers throughout the world. and what a life he lived outside of his office.

A remarkable find!.......1999-01-21

It's hard to believe that a man who had such tremendous influence on American letters was all but forgotten before Max Putzel brought him back to life in this extraordinary biography. William Marion Reedy discovered and/or published many of the most important writers of his day, including Edgar Lee Masters, Vachel Lindsay, Carl Sandburg, Amy Lowell, Sara Teasdale, Theodore Dreiser and Zoe Akins. At the same time, he led a rough-and-tumble life in his native St. Louis, once even waking up after a night of hard drinking to discover he had married a local prostitute! Putzel's portrayal of Reedy in all his brilliance and decadence is one of those rare works of excellent scholarship that is also just plain fun to read. I recommend it with gusto!

An Inspirational Story.......2001-06-02

I was struck by the faith and hope demonstrated by both Nancy and Theresa, as well as the love between them. It is not often that someone is inspired to take on a project like this for the next generation. I'm sure that Theresa's daughter will be very grateful that her grandmother wrote this book about her mother. Breast cancer is a devastating disease, but I feel that if women hear Theresa and Nancy's story they will be encouraged to hold their heads high and be the heroines they truly are.

Truly The Most Beautiful Rose.......2000-12-07

Nancy writes beautifully about Theresa's life and her struggle for life. Nancy also lets everyone know there is hope beyond hope. Theresa's fight was valiant and her mother's account of her whole life is a wonderful tribute. Theresa's daughter Madison will truly appreciate what her grandmother has done for her. The book very truly indicates how precious life is, and how, we as the people left behind must tell our loved ones everyday how much we love them.

The True Story of Theresa, The Most Beautiful Rose is an incredible journey through the life of a young woman who was taken too early from her family and friends. This account not only shares the devastating effects of cancer and cancer treatments but it sets an example of the power of love and faith. Nancy Moore has a powerful story to tell and her work is well written. This book is hard to put down and leaves the reader desperately wanting to change the ending of the book. There is a strong message here to never give up hope and to treasure each moment of life and the love of those around us all. There are lessons to be shared - never stop looking for answers and miracles, never forget to say I love you, always remember that life is a precious gift and hold onto your faith.

This account of Theresa and her illness as written by her loving mother is truly a tribute. The beautiful way in which Nancy Moore has shared her story should be a lesson to us all about love, hope, family, and committment. Her writing leaves the reader unable to put the book down, as if somehow something will be missed by doing so. Nancy offers information that she has learned about Breast Cancer and the treatment options available to those seeking help. This book is indeed a beautifully written tribute, touching a part of all of us with a very important message about love and loss, and how suddenly life can change, reminding us all that nothing in life should be taken for granted.

This is a poignant story that touched me particularly, since I'm a Cancer survivor, as well as the father of 5 daughters. This book should be a must-read for families of Cancer victims. Nancy Moore shares the experience vividly and with great compassion. Theresa was a valiant fighter, as well as a "beautiful rose".
