For a human performance methodologist this book represent the state of the art of the knowledge.For the first time you can have the whole map of knowlege in the world of intervention, organized in a systematic and logic way. I find this book wonderful to train and support the next generation of consultants, both in the university and at work. The book helps you to convince the client not to "jump" to any fashional intervention, and to have corelation between the "medicine" and the dyagnostic phase. If you are reading this review you are probably a leader and manager with some familiarity of organizational and human performance. You may also be looking for ways to increase your value to your team. If so, this book should be a tremendous help you.

The Intervention Resource Guide (IRG) is a work that should sit not on your bookshelf, but on your desk top as a ready reference. I will not attempt to evaluate each intervention, as valuable as they are (of the ones I have used), but choose to focus on the heart of the book, "Part One, Intervention Selection and Implementation" which includes the "Matrix of Interventions".

The editors have efficiently and credibly provided the leader-manager with the ability to make use of the proper intervention given the goal of: "Establishing, Improving, Maintaining or Extinguishing" performance in the "Business unit, Process, Work group, or Individual". All 50 interventions are evaluated for relevency against the above eight factors. By using their intervention selection model, any leader and manager should be able to select a proven intervention leading to a high probability of performance improvement. Conversely the avoidance of selecting the wrong intervention is just as valuable, and through use of the matrix, the leader should be able to avoid costly damage to the organization she serves.

What a great way to expand your own toolset........1999-03-12

I've been in the performance improvement world for 15 years and found the book a wonderful way to expand my knowledge beyond my set of experiences. I especially loved the case studies with the positive and negative examples. As someone who helps other performance technologists around the country, I will certainly recommend this as a great way to get the big picture do's and don'ts for an impressive number of tools.

Great suggestions and case studies for my students!.......1999-03-12

As a professor at the State University of New York--Plattsburgh, I'm always looking for new case studies and ideas to share with my undergraduate students. The book clearly demonstrates what professionals in various fields are doing to improve structures within different contexts. Having worked with various non-profit organizations, this resource guide is useful both as a practioner and observer of organizational communication. Each of the proposed interventions clearly define, describe and apply techniques that could definitely improve communication within the workplace. I'm especially fond of the resources and references included at the end of each intervention.

Very good reference for selecting possible interventions........1999-03-07

As a consultant in human reource management, productivity and quality improvement, I've found this book to be a valuable reference. I've often used it with clients as a starting point such as "Flow Charts" and "Process Mapping" with process improvement teams; and "New Employee Orientation" and "HRIS" with employment, training and development efforts. Recently, "Job Aids" was very helpful with a client who has high seasonal employment needs to assure good customer service and satisfaction. It's a good introduction to possible interventions. It gets people thinking. It provides good references for further learning and application. I've used it. I recommend it.

The Farm Welding Handbook covers how to set up a farm-specific welding shop, select and use welding equipment, safety, and varied welding processes. While the book focuses on oxyacetylene gas and arc welding, the most common methods such as wire-feed MIG welding for soft metals are also covered.

Over all, the book was excellent. Keep in mind that I am new to welding, so the book looked pretty good to me. Personally, I could care less about the history of welding and the blacksmith in the very begining of the book, but from there, Richard Finch shows the reader how to set up a good Farm Welding shop and also tells the reader what tools are needed. He too goes over saftey in the next Chapter. He then talks about the different farm welding processes such as oxyacetylene, arc (stick) and MIG (wire fed). Finch also covers how to identify metals on and around the farm. Chapter 5 covers oxyacetylene cutting, heating and plasma cutting. From there on, he pretty much goes into all of the processes I prevously mentioned only in much greater detail. He also concentrates on some "hard to weld" metals such a cast iron and aluminum. At the end of the book, he has writen a very good referance guide on where to buy welding tools and acessories.
Over all, this is a very good book, especally for the farmer who does not know too much about welding already.

Interesting concepts.......2006-01-25

This book is the only one I could find that attempts to explore the gravitational mystery spots by scientific experiments. It is good in that it gives a list of similar places in the US, and in that it makes an attempt at some demonstration of the anomaly by quartz crystal frequencies, weight scale and other measurements. But the Theory of Multidimensional Reality is rather a shot from 'Men in Black'! Also some common sense experiments such as those using a bubble level, laser, pendulum and compass are just not done. However, since it is the only thesis I could find on such anomalies, I think it is worth it.

A MUST Have Book.......2003-11-28

This book gives an excellent introduction into one of the MOST profound NATURAL mysteries on the earth today. A MUST read for ZPE and GRAVITY researchers and experimeters.

The book explores what is called "shrink-grow" phenomena and what I call "mass fluctuations".

Vogt uses Special Relativity (SR) as a mathematical bases for his theory.

If I had seen it in a book store, I wouldn't have bought it.......2002-01-02

Overall it was just a book written by a wacky author. While I do generally believe alternative ideas, this author was ineffective in leading the reader to his conclusion. It took 81 pages to come to a two paragraph conclusion which didn't match the arguments. I'm sorry I wasted my time and money on this junk.

Interesting but flawed.......2003-01-23

The quotes in this book give you a good window to the hypocracy of Saddam Hussein. However the graphic design takes away from its utility. This is a book meant for decoration, but not actually to be read. It seems as if the graphic designer went mad while laying out this piece. Fortunately this is a small light book, or you would get a real workout spinning it about to read it page to page.

An excellent tongue-in-cheek spin on Evil Incarnate.......2002-06-27

Put together to look like a cute little coffee house quote book, complete with upsidedown and diagonal text, colors, jokes and cartoons, it's refreshing sometimes to step out of our seriousness and laugh at men like Saddam. He probably is the most dangerous man in the world, but when we can look at his "wisdom" we get to see a bit of his madness while we snicker at his would-be profundity. Also in this series are Khaddafy, Castro and Bin Laden. Collect them all.
