Misinformation in bogus studie.......2004-11-17

We read the book and its loaded with mis information, written by someone who clearly did reseach by simple internet downloads from unrealiable websites/ instead of really knowing the subject. makes us wonder if the other books by this author are as rediculous and as full as poor misinformation. laughfable book by someone out to make a quick book and forget to check her sources. Im from Peru and can tell you this is a blemish on a good herb. Gloria.

The book is only 47 pages, but it includes all current knowledge needed to understand about Maca. It is written in very simple words for the common reader making it a great information source about Maca and its use.

Good Book, Better Course.......2003-09-09

I had the privledge of taking the course that Dr. Erickson teaches that uses this text. It is a decent book and an excellent class.
The book would probably not be as useful to those who do not have formal instruction, but would be a good reference with simple examples for those who already have some experience with Process Controls.

A good book, but not for the novice.......2000-01-25

I actually bought this book as suggested by a friend, and I found it to be interesting and well written. In my opinion, the author presents a nice overview of the aspects of turbulence theory which are closer to his own experience: in this sense the book is a sort of 'autobiographic picture' of turbulence, not a textbook. However I really appreciated it, probably because I share many of Frisch's opinion, and was really enlightened by some of the historical (and philosophical) considerations. A must for the practitioner.

K-9 Soldiers covers Paul Morgan's experiences with K-9 partners. He begins entering the Army in 1957 and subsequent experiences as an Airborne paratrooper in 1958 through 1959. The book covers his experiences with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and in Alaska. He trained for Special Forces operations in Vietnam in 1964 through 1965. In the 30th Ranger Batallion, he describes patrol activities where his dog played an important role in the success of the operations. He also describes other patrol actions in Tay Ninh in 1970. Later, he left the military and operated a security business utilizing patrol dogs. He describes many of the experiences he and his K-9 partners have encountered in the security business.

Voice From The Past.......2004-07-19

Excellent piece of historical work. Insight into Paul's time in the military with his K-9's. And revealing insight into the professional, independent security K-9 world. My inclusion in the book not withstanding.
Am looking forward to reading Paul's other work The Parrot's Beak about his inclusion in operations in Cambodia during the Vietnam conflict. I hope that he continues to tell of his experiences both during his military service and during the 20 years he owned his security K-9 service in Lexington KY.
He is an excellent orator in person, and now he is also a great writer. Keep it up Paul.

Best MP Officer I ever met.......2002-12-10

Paul Morgan was my Company Commander and I was his Executive Officer in B Company, 716th MP Battalion. Paul was one of the best MP officers I had the pleasure of serving with. Quiet but serious, when he spoke we listened, and he always had something important to say. Today he writes the same way that he spoke then, always interesting and always sincere.
What he didn't write about in his book, is that when the Victoria Hotel was bombed, there was a deep crater left in front of the entrance to the hotel which filled with water. He was so involvement with the rescue mission, he did not notice the depth of the crater and attempted to walk through the water toward the building. In the meantime I had gotten my camera and was taking pictures of the damage. I heard the splash and looked to see Captain Morgan sink to the bottom and then come out of the hole holding his cap up high, the only dry thing on him. He ordered me not to take his picture. I wished I had disobeyed that order, it would look great in his next book.

War Dogs -- The Forgotten Heroes.......2002-03-14

We are, all of us, veterans or civilians alike, aware of the tragic proportions of the Vietnam conflict. However, even many veterans are unaware of the crucial role played by the heroic K-9s. These four-footed soldiers were responsible for saving many lives in the steaming jungles and the fetid rice paddies of Vietnam.
Maj. Paul Morgan's book, K-9 Soldiers, Vietnam and After, illustrates with striking clarity the bravery, skill and boundless heart displayed time and time again by the faithful K-9s of Vietnam.
As a Vietnam veteran I never had the opportunity to work with a K-9 unit but Mr. Morgan's book impressed me with its stirring first person accounts of the true-life actions of these courageous dogs and their handlers. Mr. Morgan's book formed the basis for a widely acclaimed TV movie that is also heart wrenching in its depiction of the K-9 units' daily struggles. Any reader with an interest in history and certainly any animal lovers will be captivated by these accounts.
As a combat Marine infantryman I can attest that this chronicle rings true. Mr. Morgan has been there and back and has rendered these stories with an experienced eye and ear.
Mr. Morgan is the founder of the effort to create a war dog memorial in his home town of Suffolk County, New York. His efforts have suceeded with a projected unveiling of the memorial within the next year.
Mr. Morgan has been honored numerous times for his heroic work at the WTC on September12, 2001 along with his Search and Rescue dog Cody Bear. Mr. Morgan has been a life-long dog handler and his rich experience informs the reader on each page of this gripping work

It's hard to classify this book. It's not simply about dogs, and it's not simply about war. What you'll find upon reading this work is that it's a very clever weaving of themes that all happen to come together on the battlefield.

Being too young for Vietnam myself, I never had an understanding of what went on over there. K-9 Soldiers takes a theme we are all familiar with--dogs--and uses it as the foundation for showing us what the war was all about: loyalty and sacrifice and the undying spirit of determination that most civs like me never encounter in everyday life; that is, unless you study a dog closely.

Take that lesson and blend it with the uncommon relationship between a soldier and a dog; then apply it to the scenes of everyday life (Chapters 7-9); and there you have it: a masterpiece that will affect you as much as it will entertain you.

Consider "the perfect soldier". Many history books will tell you that it was General George S. Patton. Perhaps... but he would've been even better if he had six legs. (If you don't get it, read the book!)...

Lenin, after Marx, is the great figure in the pantheon of Communism, and distilled Marx's discoveries about the nature of capitalism and class struggle into concrete revolutionary practice.

This sweeping, authoritative volume gives deep insight into the construction of the Bolshevik party over the two decades leading up to the first World War. Lenin's crucial contributions to the struggle in terms of organization, theory, strategy, and tactics are presented in an accessible and illuminating style. Lenin's insight that a highly organized 'vanguard party' of dedicated professional revolutionaries would be necessary to focus the struggles of the workers sufficiently to overthrow the rulers is presented with great clarity, and the narrative of his tireless efforts to put these insights into practice in struggle is fascinating and instructive.

Highly recommended for those interested in the history of revolution.

Marxism in practice!.......2003-10-20

I think this is an amazing book which displays the application of Marxist theory to the real world. In reading, I found it extremely helpful in clearing up the contradictions ahout Lenin I'd held onto for so long. Tony Cliff's analysis, true to Marxist principles, shows how the revolutionary movement was shaped by the struggle. It shows that Lenin's ideas weren't just bright ideas that popped into his head, but the result of a process including open debate and active participation in the struggle. Overall, Tony Cliff gives a positive view of the kind of open, democratic principles which served as the framework for the Russian Revolution and provides a sharp contrast to the distorted picture of an authoritarian and elitist Lenin we're usually shown.

This book is absolutely ESSENTIAL reading for anyone interested in building a revolutionary organization and it provides plenty of hope for those who wish to see a world in which decisions are made based on human need instead of profit.

Political Biography.......2002-10-20

This work is a politcal biography, in the sense that the major focus is on Lenin's revolutionary activities - specifically in building and organizing the Bolsheivik party - in the years before the first World War. The beauty of this book is that it exposes the "sacred capitalist myth" that ascribes the Marx-Lenin-Stalin progression as one that arises naturally. In 'Building the Party' we see Lenin not as a rutheless bloodthirsty dictator but rather as a brilliant tactical organizer and one of the foremost intellectual-revolutionaries of the Twentieth Century

Great Biography on Lenin.......2002-08-09

This is a great biography on Vladimir Lenin, focusing on his early years. It chronicles Lenin's youth and the history of the early Marxist movement in tsarist Russia. Later chapters focus on his efforts to craft an effective revolutionary party.

This book is chock full of information, but is still very engaging. It is pretty down to earth and doesn't make use of high-falutin language wherever possible. Compare reading this book to the official Stalinist biography of Lenin, or those put forward by right-wing cranks.

Overall, this is a must-read for all activists, especially socialists. I highly recommend this book to people with an interest in politics.
