Just a manual.......2000-04-07

Book is too basic. Majority covers very basic program functionality that is already present in the help - if you need pretty pictures that tell you when to press the 'next' button or 'ok' button then this book is for you. If on the other hand you already know how to enter a deposit and know how to reconcile your account, I suggest you try another book.

I find it interesting that Microsoft expects to profit from this book when the "instructional booklet" they inlcuded with their software is so clearly deficient.

An organic guide to developing and maintaining healthy soil, this book is organized in two parts. "Understanding Your Soil" explores the chemistry and underground wildlife. "Managing Your Soil" is the hands-on section. Chapters offer prescriptions for problem soils (inadequate drainage, slopes, hardpan, contamination) and catering to the needs of vegetables, flowers, lawns, trees and shrubs, container plants.

While the second portion provides for immediate action, the first half is a readable discussion of the interactions of plants and soil. Gershuny shows how to recognize characteristics of your soil by observing weeds and plant growth, and enters the microscopic world of compost and humus. This book came very highly recommended from Amazon readers but I disagree. The writing is hard to understand, 1918 was'nt that long ago,there's no need for the hard to understand language. Also he does'nt describe other characters well, More confusion! mediocre story about a topic that doesn't have nearly as much written about it as ww2.

Trench Knives And Mustard Gas: With The 42nd Rainbow Division In France by historian Hugh S. Thompson consists of his personal memoirs of fighting in the trenches of World War I. Informed and informative, this is the story of a young man who entered the U.S. Army in 1918 as an officer and served with the 42nd Rainbow Division -- which was one of the first units to secure a sector of the line along the Western Front and experience the horror of mustard gas attacks by the Germans. Thompson barely survived the lethal battles of Lorraine, Champagne, and St. Mithiel, suffering severe wounds to the arm, leg, and back on three separate occasions. He was eventually awarded the Silver Star, the French Legion of Merit, and the Purple Heart with three Oak Leaf Clusters. Ably written with a personal intensity and realism, this battlefield memoir was originally published in 1934 in the "Chattanooga Times". This new edition from Texas A&M University Press has been enhanced with a superb introduction by historian, academician, and World War I expert Robert H. Ferrell. With a dash of humor.......2000-08-20

I wanted to read Mr. Hitchcox's book because since my own diagnosis in late November 1999, I have devoted myself to finding material that can help other men with the disease, either at a Cincinnati OH support group or my Web site. There are books about prostate cancer but too few that approach the subject of intimacy, let alone include it in the title. Mr. Hitchcox not only takes it on but with an even rarer - and much-needed - sense of humor. (How often do you learn the year/make of a writer's car in "About the Author"?)

Although Mr. Hitchcox is a firm advocate of including the companion in the process, I was pleasantly surprised to find "The Wife Gets to Speak" at the close of the book where his spouse gives her perspective on the ordeal. More first-person books should take this route because this disease affects more than the man.

The book is short, laced with cartoons and a fast-read but perhaps exactly what most newly diagnosed men need. At that early stage, one doesn't have much attention span. There's also good resources, a list of questions for your doctor and a good, workable index. And don't let the year of publication (1997) stop you from getting it. He gives an attitude that will be needed as long as there is treatment for this disease.

I enjoyed the book well enough to wonder why it isn't listed at more Web sites. It will be at mine with a recommendation to get it - as I did - from Amazon.com.

Audrey Currie Newton's "Living With Prostate Cancer" is a practical easily understood account exploring the nature of the cancer men fear most. The book is an integrated story examining both the medical as well as the intimate aspects of the disease.

Today's increasing life span combined with advanced diagnosis has revealed prostate cancer as being the second leading cause of all cancer deaths in men. Each man and his loved ones will seek an emotional life-line, a sign of hope, when prostate cancer strikes.

"Living With Prostate Cancer" would be very helpful to those men who contract the disease and to those that love them. The book is a fast paced emotional experience.

Term-paper snoozefest.......2005-11-14

These authors exhibit no real literary feel for any aspect of Vinson's life: his participation in New Deal era, his roots in eastern Kentucky, the Supreme Court, or the personality of the man himself. His years in Congress, for example, or covered with endless quotations from mundane Congressional speeches, and excerpts from unremarkable constituent correspondence. This is biography-as-term-paper, rather than as a transformative effort to place a vital human being in the context of place and time, as the best biographers try to do. (Wikipedia would do just as well, and at less length). Granted, Vinson is not among the more "exciting" figures of 20th century American history, but still he was a man who lived (and achieved power)at a dynamic time. You do not get to know this man in this book.

Worthless.......2002-12-30

For the most part, this book contains quotes from Khadafy's three-volume Green Book, an unintelligible collection of his thoughts (if they can be termed that) on history, politics, economics and life in general. Not only are they not particularly entertaining, but the graphics employed by the authors make them difficult to read.

The only entertaining thing in the book is Moammer's rather extravagant claim that, among other aspects of Arab culture that the West has stolen are the works of William Shakespeare -- his real name, it seems, was Sheik Speare. The authors suggest that Moammer said this jokingly, but I have heard from a reliable source that he was dead serious. The man does not joke.

A new kind of silly little book at the checkout counter.......2002-07-22

This strange little book packed with quotes about & from Moammar Khadafi is great. Some parts are funny, others intriguing, and some frightening, but it's all very good & well put together.

Vicious and Cruel.......2006-10-13

No one could stop Jane or anyone else from accusing the Ramseys, for telling negative stories - - not even if they believed they were vicious LIES. But time has helped bring out the truth.

The investigation never found evidence of the ramseys neglecting or abusing any of their children and the latest news we have had was that of an arrest of an INTRUDER suspect.

He was cleared when his DNA didn't match that the killer left behind. The unsourced DNA that didn't come from Karr or JonBenet's parents.

I have written a play - "Murdering JonBenet". It is available on Ebay. If people want to know the truth, they might want to see what I have to say. It does not name the killer, but it tells a lot of truth Jane chose to ignore.

Well, now do you feel stupid?.......2006-08-17

So, it hasn't gone to court yet, but we have a confessed killer for JonBenet. I hope The Ramsey family sues you, Ms. Stobie, for the emotional pain and lies you have spread about them WHILE trying to make a profit from it. You're exposed as a psychic fraud, a nuissance, and other terms not fitting for an Amazon review. The real miracle will be if you can grow out of your waste of a life and become someone good in and for this world.

Fiction NOT FACT.......2004-07-24

This book is for you if you like fiction. I found this book to be a personal attack against the Ramsey's. I see from the other reviews that I am not alone. I recommend you read the book "The Death of Innocence" if you want to find out what REALLY happened. Do not waist your money. This book should be entitled "Revenge: the fictional world of an ex-Ramsey employee" Physic? More like physco! I want my money and time back!

I'm so glad I'm not alone.......2000-07-22

How surprised I was to see reviews by other former Access Graphics employees! We all got along real well except for Jane Moler (now back to her maiden name because hubby dumped her) and she was a conniving, deceitful, dishonest person then. She hasn't gotten any better since. John Ramsey brought Jon Benet into the office more than once and I don't believe she ever spent any time with the author or any of the other employees and she certainly didn't single Jane out as a psychic consultant. Jane would be "lucky" to have ever even spoken to the kid. I decided to read the book just to see what the author might have to say about the murder that the rest of us might not be privy to and I found it disgusting. Jane Moler has no more direct connections to those "in the know" about the crime than the rest of us. She fantasized her "facts" just as she fantasizes her ability to be a psychic medium. Lots of people have the ability to make things up and make them sound real and Jane is one of those people. She always was rather "out there" and sure wasn't a productive member of the Access Graphics staff. Some others who have reviewed the book say they don't like the Ramseys' yet they praise the author. How can people be so gullible? You don't know the author any more than you know the Ramseys yet you choose to believe her.....does that make sense? That's what's wrong with this country...there are too many sheep looking for answers from crackpots like Jane Moler. Jon Benet certainly wouldn't have zeroed in on this "woman" to channel for her out of all the people she met in her short lifetime. Jane was just another nameless face like the rest of Access Graphics' employees. Get over yourself Jane, you just ain't that special.

Disturbed by Negative Reviews.......2000-06-22

I read this book quite some time ago and really enjoyed it. This book confirmed much of what I had already thought happened to this little girl, though some of what is written does not make sense. The author mentions blood being cleaned up after the murder, and everything that I have read on the murder indicates there was none. Other than that discrepancy, I felt the author was right on target.

I was however disturbed by the number of negative reviews written by people who had worked with Jane at Access Graphics. Ordinarily, this would have changed my opinion of this book and the author. However, after reading the book written by the Ramseys themselves, I don't like either one of them. I can see where they could make someone's life a living hell, especially someone who works for them.

Hopefully this book is factual in the sense that the little girl has reached beyond the grave to shed some light on her murder and that she has found some peace. The truth may never be known in this case, therefore the same rings true of all books written about it.
