Customer Reviews:
Nuts-and-bolts of a Learning Organisation.......2000-08-02
This is one of the few books that manage to get into the guts of learning organisations, past conceptual pondering and into nuts-and-bolts of turning the concepts into practices.
The structure of this book is somewhat confusing, as it is easy to lose track of the nested levels of subtitles, with about the same size of headings. Several pages long lists do not make it any easier to remember, what is the actual issue of the chapter in question.
This book is widely used in management courses but I would not require my students to memorize those lengthy lists of connected tidbits. In my opinion this is much more applicable as a thought provoker or even a reference for a manager of an emerging learning organisation.
This is not a bad book, far from it. Especially the use of actual cases to stress the point of each chapter works very well.
Clear and practical book on building a learning organization.......1999-03-31
Excellent case studies; based on best theories and practice
The Excellent Book.......1997-07-12
If you want to learn "The Learning Organization", start with this book. You can understand easily what the LO is and how to build it

Book Description
For some, eucalypts are the tree of the future: easily established, quick to grow, and intensively cultivated. For others, eucalypts are a blight upon native landscapes and the livelihoods of indigenous people. This book tells the story of how the eucalyptus--or "gum tree"--spread from its native ranges in Australia to diverse habitats throughout the world. First regarded as an exotic novelty and a popular ornamental in European botanical and residential gardens, the eucalyptus became, especially after World War II, the favored tree of the global pulpwood industry and international agroforesters.
Robin W. Doughty, one of the world's leading biogeographers, discusses various reasons for the tree's popularity throughout history, ranging from the merely aesthetic, to its purported malaria-countering character in swamps and bogs, to its ability to adapt and mature quickly as a source of timber and firewood--a fact which especially appealed to railroad companies in the nineteenth century. Turning to the last half of the twentieth century, Doughty raises important environmental, socioeconomic, and political issues surrounding the eucalypt. In developing nations in Latin America and Asia, for example, the accelerated establishment of eucalyptus plantations has led to a heated debate about their impact upon the environment and about the social consequences of encouraging expansion on both private and community lands.
Customer Reviews:
Pretty dull.......2007-07-09
This is a scholarly tome and was dry reading. Some interesting facts about early planting of eucalypts in countries other than Australia, but that's about it. I was really looking for a handbook on identifcation, but those are fairly hard to find.

Book Description
At the age of forty-two, Wayne Fields set upon a sort of pilgrimage when he waded the near twenty-mile stretch of a small river in northern Michigan with fly rod in hand. He emerged with a beautiful and poignant memoir, a meditation on families and aging, and a whimsical response to what time, and streams, and those we care about bring into our lives.
Customer Reviews:
Oh, it does not get much better than this.......2004-07-10
Cook's Run is a short stream in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Professor Fields wants you to know its every mile, and the complexities of each. That discovery is interleaved with a life in mid current: family, dog, and cabin.
One would expect an instructor in American literature to work the language well, and the reader will get just this. "But wait, there's more": extraordinary understanding of the trout of Cook's run, superb vision of the inhabitants and geography of the U.P. Fishermen/fisherwomen & families take note: this is a special piece of work.
An outstanding reflection of one man life and your own........1999-02-22
The authors challenge of fishing the entire length of Cook's Run takes you on down reflecting path of the authors life and your own. If you have a family and enjoy fishing you should read this book.

Book Description
In 1946, in the northern Australian fishing town of Broome, Hart Penrose remembers. He remembers his parents his silent English mother and bluff Australian father. He remembers the storm that tore open is leg, and his sister Alice, whose exuberance and strength brought him out of despair. He remembers the racism and hatred that roiled Broome in the days before WW2, the unwarranted suspicions of the native Japanese that pulled the town apart. Most of all, he remembers Misty Sennosuke, the warm and beautiful girl next door, the girl he loved, the one he betrayed.
Customer Reviews:
The Divine Wind Review by "Katie".......2005-10-12
A novel of war, culture, romance, drama, and takes place in the 1940's in Broome, Australia. The narrator of this novel is also the main character. His name is Hart Penrose. Some of the other main characters in this novel are Alice Penrose (Hart's sister), and Misty Sennosuke. The theme in the novel is "romance." This book wasn't hard but it wasn't easy, I guess you could say it was just in the middle. Garry Disher uses a lot of imagery in his writing. He does a good job describing the characters feelings. The main character "hart" has a very stressful life between his mom leaving him and then dieing and because his father doesn't pay attention to him. If it wasn't for his sister "Alice" who is also his best friend, Hart would be nothing. Hart has had a crush on "Misty" forever, but for some reason she doesn't go for him. Misty is also Alice's best friend. This novel shows a fight for love. Hart wants to be with Misty so bad, it breaks his heart that he can't have her. It's hard because Misty is Japanese and Hart is Australian. There's a war going on in the novel against Japan. Hart's father is on the Australian side, which makes it hard for Misty, because she came from Japan. Throughout the novel there were a lot of tragedies in the families in the novel, which made it easy for the friends and siblings to stick together and be there for each other. Garry Fisher is an awesome writer. The whole time I was reading I felt like I was actually in the novel. It was one of those novels you can't put down!
the divine wind.......2005-09-11
This is a divine story. It is about Hart, a boy who lives in a small Australian town before World War 2. He lives with his sister, father and before she moves away to London, his mother. Hart also has a Japanese friend named Misty who's smart funny and just plain old fun and in Harts eyes...beautiful. They are best friends Misty and he and when Pearl Harbor is attacked and all of the Japanese have to move to camps Hart and his father take Misty and her mother in to live with them. While living together Misty and Harts relationship expands and they become lovers, but can there love survive the turmoil of war? This is a brutally honest story of war, family, and first love. I highly recommend this story to anyone.
I am so depressed.......2005-07-12
This book would have to be the most depressing book I have ever read, there is nothing good or happy exept a couple of scenes. When I finished this book (and I only finished it because I had to) I threw it down in disgust.
The Devine Wind: A love story.......2003-08-28
The story had great details about the setting and descriced the character beautifully, but it was hard to fallow the plot and who were the characters, i wish there was an ending so we could find out what happens to the characters still living. Other wise--- great book that kept me reading.
The not so Divine Wind.......2003-05-16
What kind of a name is MITSY? And by the way what kind of a name is DISHER? We have been forced to study the Divine Wind in english and we hope this love story (if you can call it that) isn't a re-enactment of Disher's childhood. The characters in this book are undeveloped, the romance is cold and boring, the scene is as well set as a rubics cube. How can this book be compared to Romeo and Juliet? Overall leave romance to the experts.

Customer Reviews:
Clearly Communicates Used Car Buying Data.......2003-12-19
Buying a used car? I am. Buy the "Consumer Reports Used Car Buying Guide" first. In it, I found lists of "Good Bets," which are cars the authors consider to perform well over the years. That is guiding my purchase. I won't buy a car not listed there. I also found lists dividing reliable cars by price range, which cars have had recalls, unreliable models (by year), and detailed descriptions of the pros and cons of each vehicle.
That's not all. There are also articles on safety, buying strategies, batteries, insurance, towing, depreciation, tires and child car seats.
It is not a complicated book. It is straight to the point, with minimal car jargon.
I fully recommend "Consumer Reports Used Car Buying Guide." I am confident that because I have read it and refer to it while I shop for an auto online, I am prepared to save money and to buy a better vehicle.

Book Description
In 1976, Scottish engineer Stan Hall organized a landmark expedition to the caves of the Tayos Indians in Ecuador, involving a dozen institutions, joint Special Forces, and astronaut professor Neil Armstrong as Honorary President and participant. Hall was driven by curiosity about Erich von Däniken's report of a Metal Library allegedly found in the caves by investigator Juan Moricz in the mid-1960s (published in von Däniken's 1972 blockbuster Gold of the Gods). This idea was considered unorthodox in the absence of any ancient written script in South America. In Hall's odyssey into the heart of global enigmas he researches The origins of mankind Atlantis Ptolemy's lost city of Cattigara The sudden rise and fall of wonder civilizations This journey ended with his identification of Atlantis and Cattigara, and the entrance to the Metal Library along the Pastaza River in Ecuador. Imagination, action and danger combine explosively in the story of this spectacular British-Ecuadorian expedition to the Tayos Caves of Ecuador.

Author's Review of Rival Capitalists.......2000-09-29
This book is about the factors that explain changes in international competitiveness between 1945 and the late 1980s in three industries -- steel, automobiles, and semiconductors -- in five countries: the United States, Japan, Britain, France, and Germany. It argues that the way in which countries organize themselves internally is the most important factor. Increases in competitiveness occurred in countries like Germany and Japan where there was cooperation between business and the state or between business and labor. Declines in competitiveness occurred in countries like the US and Britain where government, business or labor were dominant in the overall system and therefore did not cooperate with each other. The book argues further that increases in competitiveness occur in countries where the diffusion of new knowledge and technology is rapid and that such diffusion is easier in countries where business, government, and labor are able to work together.

Book Description
Molecular Biology of the Cell, Fourth Edition: A Problems Approach is designed to help students appreciate the ways in which experiments and simple calculations can lead to an understanding of how cells work. Chapters are subdivided as in Molecular Biology of the Cell and provide a review of key terms, test for understanding basic concepts, and research-based problems. Chapters 1-8 and 10-18 from Molecular Biology of the Cell are covered in this way.
The new edition of A Problems Approach (formerly titled The Problems Book) is completely reorganized and revised to match the Fourth Edition of Molecular Biology of the Cell. Detailed answers are provided in the book for half the problems to help students learn how to analyze experimental observations and draw conclusions from them. Problems without the solution contained in the book are useful for homework assignments and as exam questions. Answers to these problems are provided to instructors upon request.

bio book.......2007-09-15
the book is amazing. i got it in great shape, and aside from it weighing 7 lbs...it's a great book for a biology class.
Best Science Book I've Ever Read.......2007-07-09
If you are taking a cell biology book, this is the book to read. Even if your instructor assigns a lighter book, you can still read this and benefit. It's one of those rare books that go into the details while still being readible. It's incredibly well organized and well written.
A thousand carats text!.......2007-06-27
The undeniable importance of the molecular biology has achieved in the last two decades such transcendental outburst of energy, advances and extraordinary finfings that hardly we should devote entirely to be informed about the multiple consequences of its profound implications.
This book is a true effort worthy to admire, because it has been written with this kind spirit of sharing the knowledge wothout pretensions or any other considerations.
Once you open it, you will be absoltely engaged due its relevant interest, because of the fact there`s a lot of secondnary readings and discoveries all over the world that it should be be stated of this way. May one not being aware about the structure of the cell and the mesmerizing devices the nature employs to show us its lavish dynamics.
Additionally the support material of this CD ROM simply is priceless. I insist, you don't need to be an expert in this issue to start.
Decide by yourself and please, dont wait so long.
Molecurar biology of the cell.......2007-05-18
