Customer Reviews:
Useful off-shelf resource.......2002-01-14
As contributed activities form the bulk of the content, some activities (or variations) will be familar to experienced trainers and learning groups. Nevertheless, I found this volume useful. The informal style and sense of humor offers a refreshing antidote to other off-shelf training resources that take themselves too seriously. A few activities may be inappropriate where people are easily offended. 'Health warnings' are however included in the short trainer's guide for each activity. Let your good judgement be your guide.
Overall-recommended to new and experienced trainers alike who need off-shelf resources in the categories listed above. As with all learning resources, review the content first before you buy.

Chemical Pesticides: Mode of Action and Toxicology
Jørgen Stenersen Manufacturer: CRC ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0748409106 |
Book Description
Environmental-friendliness, issues of public health, and the pros and cons of genetically-modified crops all receive regular coverage in the world's media. This, in turn, has led to increased questioning and investigation of chemical pesticides. Stenersen's concise and timely introduction to chemical pesticides describes these compounds according to their mode of action at the cellular and biochemical level. Chemical Pesticides provides answers to questions such as why pesticides are toxic to the target organism and why pesticides are toxic to some organisms and not others. It describes how various poisons interfere with biochemical processes in organisms. The book also explores how resistance to pesticides develops, how resistance can be used to illustrate the theory of evolution, and how it can be used to produce herbicide-resistant crop plants. Legal matters and potential environmental problems are also discussed. By providing an integrated, yet simple description of modern chemical pesticides, the author provides a relevant text for professionals and students in biological disciplines such as biochemistry, medicine, agriculture, and veterinary science.

Book Description
Jabir ibn Hayyan, for a long time the reigning alchemical authority both in Islam and the Latin West, has exercised numerous generations of scholars. To be sure, it is not only the vexed question of the historical authorship and dating of the grand corpus Jabirianum which poses a serious scholarly challenge; equally challenging is the task of unraveling all those obscure and tantalizing discourses which it contains.
