Words that come from the heart!.......2000-09-03

I love these books, and the way they make someone feel like they are that person, for even in the story lines.They always keep me thinking what's gonna happen next.And some times when the people in the book start to drive you up the wall because you dislike them so much! But I find most of the people in these books are put there for a reason. But these books make you feel,make you wonder. You began to think will this happen in my life? But the thing I can think of is that in the end Zoey will find the truth. And things might end up not so happly ever after. But these books got me hooked! So keep writing Katherine Applegate!

A complex book with everything needed to be fabulous.......1999-05-04

Zoey's parents got separated, mainly because Mrs. Passmore was cheating with Jake's dad. Also, Benjamin and Zoey learn that they have a half sister. Zoey and Jake comfort each other, while Lucas and Claire become suspicious and go for a little drive. Hmmmm... Aisha tries desperatley to keep Christopher from ruining his life. Benjamin and Nina do detective work to track down Lara, his deranged half sister. TWO THUMBS UP!!! This is a definate Making Out classic.Next book: Aisha Goes Wild.

This was an awesome book!! There were so many dilemma's. At the end Lucas seems like he is fighting for his life. Why? You'll just have to read the book but, I can tell you this much, you won't regret reading it (unless you haven't read the other 6). Katherine Applegate did an excellent job with this series. There are so many cliff hangers. I really suggest you read this series.

My book club had this book on special so I decided to see if I could get it from Amazon cheaper. BOY, am I glad I did! I certainly would not recommend it. I was highly disappointed because there wasn't much for any one under 60 (62 is more like it). Every "deal" she listed is common knowledge. I gave it two stars only because some of the organizations listed...is worth checking out. But now you have the number so save your money for a really good book.

This book was very moving. I laughed and I cried. There were sad stories and poignant stories and many positive stories. I recommend this book to anyone wanting a real look at how the military and their families feel about going through these deployments. I also recomment it for families going through the deployments now. I have learned a lot about what my son may be going through and may not be willing to share with us right now.

Crying, laughing, both at the same time.......2007-03-06

I am a military wife. My young daughter and I survived 12 months while my husband served in Iraq. This book was absolutely amazing. I cannot come up with the words to describe how much this book meant to me. I don't know about other spouses, but no matter how much my husband and I talk, it is not easy for him to communicate his thoughts or feelings on his service in Iraq. It was even difficult for him to describe his life over there when asked directly. I think a lot of it is him trying to protect me, but also, his brain does not work that way. He was there, he did what he had to do as a soldier, end of story. This book brought me insight into my husband. It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me sick. It made me angry. It made me happy. It made me joyful. It made me all of these things at the same time. I am so thankful to the organization(whose name escapes me right now) that made this book possible. It is a book that touched my heart and soul. I will never be the same, and I am greatful for that. It is in know way a "light" read. I read it quickly, as I do everything, but because I was hungry to read more, to know more, to feel more. Do not read it without a box of tissues next to you.

I am a NCO in the army and have been to Iraq 4 times and this book sent chills through my bodie many times with the pure honest look at war. Most of the stories are reflections of events that any service member will identifie with. Then there are some events told in this book only a select few will truely grasp. This is a must read if you would like a insight into the mind of a Military member who has been deployed. I cant recomend this book more then just get it read it and prepair to get choked up. Excellent Audio Version.......2007-01-20

I listened to the audio version of this book. It was one of the most moving panoramic portrait of emotions of this war. Hearing these letters read aloud bring them to life in a way not possible in a reading. My congratulations to the publishers and producers of this work of art. Very very moving. Makes this war more of a reality for me here at home; it doesn't take sides, but expresses the good and the sad about this conflict. I laughed and misted up. A truly beautiful and broad compilation of real life stories.

I'm planning a family camping/roadtrip to Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. This book has been a real asset in the trip planning. I also recommend "Off the Beaten Path, Virginia" and "Off the Beaten Path, Maryland & Delaware".

This is a book not to be missed it has every thing you need to go riding through the U.S.. If you plan on touring the U.S. highways buy this book,its very informative you will being doing yourself and injustice if you don't.

Beautiful but lacking.......2006-11-03

For what it was I was a little disappointed. This book would be perfect for anyone wanting additional suggestions for 1-2 day scenic trips within a larger vacation. We didn't really use it much since we were hoping for suggestions of scenic side roads to substitute for the major interstates on our cross country road trip. The pictures are beautiful though and the suggestions look like fun if you have not already planned out your trip and are looking for suggestions to fill out the rest of your time.

A durable guide - in more ways than one.......2006-02-19

I've been using this book to help me find and appreciate scenic drives for about 4 years now, and while a few items are starting to get dated, it's still amazingly useful. The heavy paper and solid binding has kept it from falling apart in spite of 4 years of being tossed around and spilled on and bent back. Also, the small size (this isn't an atlas) makes it easy to use in the car.

I use the book to choose routes in advance, and when on the actual trip, always supplement it with local guides and maps. I've had good success with taking only parts of the drives, and even doing them in reverse! Highly recommended.
