There are many resources available on the topic of peer mediation, but we were searching for a reference that could not only give us insight into using peer mediation and and how it fits into the larger picture of conflict resolution, but a book that also gives a day by day training schedule for grades 3-12. The added bonus were the training posters also included! This book includes everything needed to implement a peer mediation program including possible ways to expand an existing program, a tracking form, and ways to evaluate the program. Gilhooley & Scheuch went the extra mile in giving relevent information that other references on peer mediation just don't have.

A Chronicle of Youth.......2001-01-05
This is the single best book that I have read in my life. I think that everyone should read it; like Vera says in her introduction, the more people who read it and are aware of the horrible waste of life, especially young life, that war is, the less people will allow it to happen. This is a great book for anyone, but especially the young- I am a teenager myself (13), as Vera was (she was 19, but oh well), and it is so much more real- what she thinks and feels and believes are so like ours, even written 85 years ago, and it makes her tradgedy seem so much more real when we see how much she was like us. It is a story of what true love is, also; when we read fiction we think "Oh, that couldn't happen in real life": here it is, it did happen, but they were only allowed a taste of what it could have been like before it was snatched away from them again. It's a reasonably hard book, guys, but it is worth it: you'll never read a better book and it will show you, if you havn't realised already, how horrible such a war is in the deaths of people so young, bright, brave, kind, and brilliant people as Roland, Edward, Victor, and Geoffery.

Lineage.......2007-10-21
I was hoping for more family history with this book. I've been looking for years for Pres. Tyler's parents, his father's siblings and forward ancestry, in hopes to open a snag I have in my mom's Tyler line, as her ggrandfather was a first cousin to Pres. Tyler, as my grandfather and siblings often stated. Maybe this John and mom's ggranfathers were brothers or their fathers were connected. I just need a better lineage.

An overpriced pamphlet.......2001-12-04
This expensive booklet of less than 70 pages (including many illustrations) is intended as a souvenir of Tyler's restored plantation house. (Incredibly, although Tyler was born in 1790, the restorer is a grandson, still alive at the time of publication in 2001.) The pamphlet, based completely on secondary sources, is deliberately uncritical and minimizes the more unsavory features of Tyler's presidency. The three-page sketch in American National Biography provides a far more accurate understanding of the tenth president and his administration.

Funny and entertaining.......2007-09-18
Karyn's antics are very amusing, and she keeps your interest througout. I thought the premise was ridiculous - she has the gumption to ask for money to pay off credit card debt, when there are so many more deserving causes out there. But once you read the book, you can't help but feel a little bad for her. The language is a little sophomoric ( saying "anyhoo" once is forgivable but several times is a bit much for a published book) and it has a very bloggish "I went here I did this" style but that was probably intentional. The shopping excursions are fun to read about.
Robbing Peter to Pay Paul.......2007-08-01
This was a cute and funny book. I laughed as I read her justifications for the things she charged. When the light bulb finally turned on for her, she was having to charge on one card and take things back to pay on another card. I applaud her for creative method of paying off her debt.
Quick and fun read.......2006-07-21
If you are a compulsive saver who couldn't imagine being carrying a balance on a single credit card, this book will disgust you. But if you are like most of us, who have found themselves loaded down with the weight of consumer debt due to circumstance and spending habits, you will love this story. Karyn pulls herself out of her self-made pit with wit, humor, and a great attitude. I read the book in two days and loved it the whole way through. I highly recommend this...especially before you go on one more shopping trip with a wallet full of plastic. It just might make you reconsider.
Reading It For the Second Time.......2006-07-07
If you like to laugh and be entertained, you definitely need to read this book, especially if you have credit card debt. I am reading it for the 2nd time right now. I don't carry a credit card balance now, but I wish I had been smart enough to come up with her idea when I did.
Don't save your money -- buy this one!.......2006-04-25
I thought it would be hard to feel sorry for an upper-middle-class chick who makes near six figures and blows it all on Fendi bags and BCBG tees -- but I was wrong. I found myself identifying with Karyn way more than I thought I would in this entertaining, hilarious, and often sad first-person tale of consumerism and search for identity. I shared in her feelings of euphoria as she shopped the streets of NYC, and I felt for her when she hit rock bottom -- and I rooted for her when she started a website and solicited strangers for donations to bail her out.
If you've enjoyed any of the fictional "Shopaholic" stories by Sophie Kinsella, you'll love "Save Karyn."
