This book emphasizes that entrepreneurship is a social activity that takes place within and among organizational systems rather than as an individual activity. To provide a comprehensive view of entrepreneurship as an organizational phenomenon, new theory building and empirical chapters are supplemented by previously published work updated to reflect current developments.

Paperback. The Heliosphere is a large volume of space dominated by the expanding solar atmosphere. Spacecraft at 60 Astronomical Units from the Sun (1 Astronomical Unit = 150 Million Kilometers) have not yet encountered the boundary where the Heliosphere ends and interstellar space begins. This publication contains 22 papers, most observational, some theoretical, on heliospheric topics. Most of the observations reported are either from the recently commissioned SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) spacecraft or from the Ulysses spacecraft which had completed the first ever polar obit of the Sun. The SOHO based papers include the first observations of the extended solar corona in the ultraviolet domain, which allow a description of the plasma velocities distribution in the region where solar wind is accelerated, and 'in situ' energetic particles result. The Ulysses based papers include descriptions of how the solar wind parameters (velocity, momentum

                  Book Description

This fourth volume in the series exploring religions and the environment investigates the role of the multifaceted Hindu tradition in the development of greater ecological awareness in India. The twenty-two contributors ask how traditional concepts of nature in the classical texts might inspire or impede an eco-friendly attitude among modern Hindus, and they describe some grassroots approaches to environmental protection. They look to Gandhian principles of minimal consumption, self-reliance, simplicity, and sustainability. And they explore forests and sacred groves in text and tradition and review the political and religious controversies surrounding India's sacred river systems.

                    Book Description

Milo Hamilton has called 11 no-hitters and a World Series, often in tandem with such broadcast legends as Jack Buck, Jack Brickhouse, Bob Elson, and Harry Caray. His work was so well-received that he was enshrined into the broadcasters? wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992. He received an even more unexpected honor eight years later ? election to the exclusive Radio Hall of Fame, of which only seven other baseball broadcasters belong. He has truly managed to work his way up from humble origins. The story he tells in Making Airwaves: 60 Years at Milo's Microphone is a profile in courage, a tale of talent and determination, and a behind-the-scenes look at seven decades of baseball history.

1 out of 5 stars Petty, mean and shallow.......2007-09-29

Message to Milo: maybe all those teams that fired you were trying to tell you something. This book reeks with self-pity and self-promotion. Having endured Milo's tenure with the Braves, I'm not surprised at the tone of this book. Milo couldn't get along with Hank Aaron, who never had an unkind word for anyone. But apparently Milo felt Hank's little home run chase was overshadowing....Milo. If he's still working, I'm glad it's with the Astros, where he has limited influence and exposure.

                    2 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing.......2007-08-09

I loved to listen to Milo when he did the White Sox games on WCFL in the early 60s. I enjoyed Milo when he was interviewed by Roy Firestone on the old Mazda Sports Look on ESPN back in the late 80s/early 90s.

I agree with a previous reviewer that it seems like a book written by a grumpy old man. I might add that it's a pretty self-indulging book. I read the reviews before I got the book from the library, and only made a special request because I loved Milo hoping that I would enjoy the book. Although writing the book for Milo might have been therapy for him, Milo should have then thrown it out. Milo's thoughts would have been better left unsaid. I might add that I'm not a fan of Harry Carey & other announcers that he trashed in the book. Actually there aren't many people that Milo didn't trash.

                    4 out of 5 stars Very frank.......2006-09-12

Overall, a very interesting read. While I wish he wrote a little more about the players (especially the chapter about his all-time team) and not place too much weight on the behind-the-scene stuff, I liked reading about his experiences with the HOF broadcasters, especially about Bob Elson and Jack Brickhouse. These are big names I wasn't too familiar with, so it was really nice to get an account of how they were like back then.

                    4 out of 5 stars Interesting Read.......2006-05-09

Having grown up listening to Milo Hamilton from his White Sox days to the present day with the Astros made this an interesting book. His interaction with other broadcasters, especially Harry Carey, is good along with his memories of past players and stadiums. If you are a fan of baseball and broadcasting I would recommend this book.

3 out of 5 stars "Making Waves" Might Be A Better Title.......2006-04-14

I especially enjoy reading baseball books, and have a number of biographies of baseball announcers such as Red Barber, Mel Allen, Bob Prince, Harry Caray, Russ Hodges, Jack Buck, Bob Wolfe, George Kell, Chuck Thompson, Ernie Harwell, and a few others. I am glad to add Milo Hamilton's to my list. True, there is a lot of bitterness towards Harry Caray in the book, and I feel it is entirely believable from what I have read in other books regarding Harry. Harry's treatment of Josh Lewin when Josh joined the Cubs was inexcusable. Harry felt Josh took the job away from his grandson Chip at the time, which wasn't true. Having said that I have always enjoyed Harry. He made me a Cardinals' fan in the National League where he did his best announcing during the 1950's and 1960's working with Jack Buck. Milo Hamilton has spent a lifetime announcing baseball for various teams and worked with legendary announcers such as Bob Elson in Chicago. Milo gives ample praise to most of those he worked with while, I felt, he also gave ample praise to himself. These types of books also have chapters on the subject's all-time team and their opinions on various baseball issues. I feel these chapters serve as fillers to the book. The book is a quick read, and Milo lets it all hang out in his opinion on Harry Caray. Harry could be difficult to work with, but I think it is time for Milo Hamilton to let it go already.

With no close friends to confide in and only a silent, broken father at home, Keegan torments himself daily with the belief that he is to blame for the dissipation of his once vibrant family. As the only person with his mother when she suffered a mental collapse, Keegan feels responsible for her decline, as well as the infant death of his twin, Michael. In a dark vision of his own beginning, he imagines choosing his life over Michael's, "Even when my hands pulled on his shoulders and pushed him down, away; even when I stood on his body and shoved myself up to be born, my brother never fought." Now Keegan, a devout Catholic, has decided that his short life is worth very little when weighed on the spectral scales of St. Michael the Archangel, his twin's patron saint. So instead of a party, he begins to plan a suicide for his 16th birthday. Only a curmudgeonly coach, a wild card wrestler named Nicky, and an acknowledged place on the school's underdog wrestling team stand between Keegan and all eternity. But will they be enough to encourage an underweight, overwrought wrestler who's lost his will to fight?

A deep, dense book full of contrasts between light and dark, and rich in religious and mythological symbol, St. Michael's Scales is not for the casual teen browser. But for those dedicated readers who champion Keegan through the bleak days before his birthday, the literary rewards are greatly satisfying. (Ages 13 and older) --Jennifer Hubert

                      Book Description

Keegan Flannery was born a twin though his brother Michael did not survive birth. Now, two weeks before Keegan's sixteenth birthday, he has a dream about his own death. Understanding that Michael was supposed to have lived, and it was he who was meant to have died, Keegan sets out to right all the wrongs by planning his own suicide. But in the final weeks before his 16th birthday and his last day on earth, life intercedes in the plan: Keegan joins the wrestling team and a dialogue between him and his father begins. And it may just be enough to change Keegan's ideas about confession, penance, and the gift of being alive.

Connelly makes his readers fall in love with his characters; in particular, Keegan, who is such an identifiable and likable young man that I was practically begging him for the duration of the story not to carry out the plan he sets in Chapter One. Only by reading it can you find out the power in what happens in the end. Wow...what a story.

I was struck by the Cover art-I longed to check the book out just to study the cover. The opening line of "It's not so bad being dead" Caught my attention right away, having read the summary on the jacket I thought immediatly Oh God he actually kills himself the book is told from a true teenager's point of view. From acting out his wish of reading other people's notes to wondering how far his dream girl has gone with her boyfriend this could be the guy who sat next to you in History. As a student of religion and psychology Keagan's thoughts of what he views as sin and finding loopholes to get good with God made me cry and fall over laughing more then once.I recomend to teen, parent, teacher and anyone who's ever thought of changing destiny.

5 out of 5 stars draws you into the story!.......2003-11-19

I could repeat what all the reviews say about Connelly's work, as they are all true. However, I'll just say that Connelly's book has to be one of the best books that I've read in the past few years, if not many of the past years. The way Connelly writes makes it feel as if you are always right there next to Keegan or perhaps next to Nathan or Angela. You feel as though you are a student at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. You can feel Nicky Carpelli's noogies, punches, and pounds. There's never a dull moment in the book, and even if you don't have the time, you'll want to finish reading the book in one day.

"Who is supposed to know more about this book--me the author or you the reader?" -Neil Connelly

In talking to Neil about this book (I am a student at McNeese State Univeristy) I began to understand that this book does not deal specifically with guilt, with suicide, or any one specific issue. Neil deals with the idea, in the manifestation of Keegan, that life is hard and different for evryone, and everyone must deal with it in a different way. He developes Keegan, who has to deal with who he is, and Nathan Looby, who is also forced to look at himself for who he is. Nathan refuses to bend, and tries to answer life with one swoop...that it "has to be this way." Keegan is able to bend and overcome this guilt that hangs over his head, and that's the card he plays in the hand he is dealt. Keegan's mother goes insane over her situation; His father becomes very cold and distant; and brother Patrick runs from his family. Neil makes a very profound statement about life: Life cannot be summed up in a profound statement. There is no one mantra to live life by. Life is a series of experiences, and in those experiences meaning is made of a life. Neil gives the reader glimpses into Keegan's life, memories that shaped him, and, ultimately, guided him to try to rekindle the family love. His use of wrestling, a very physical manifestation of the tumult within Keegan's mind. Michael becomes a face for the inner self that Keegan struggles against, and this is climaxed when Keegan believes himself to be wrestling Michael. A powerfully woven self discovery of a human being that will move any reader to, for lack of a better word, grab life by the horns. Neil weaves a message about life in such a way, using the very simple, powerful voice of Keegan, that it has some resonance within us all. Neil Connelly has something to say, so read this book and listen up, but also listen in to yourself as you will begin to come to your own understanding about the meaning of life.

5 out of 5 stars A book for everyone. Great first novel by Neil Connelly.......2002-06-28

A great story of a troubled teen. Neil Connelly does a great job of drawing the reader into his world at OLPH. I got so drawn in, it is as if I lived some of that life with Keegan. So much can be taken from this book at many different levels. I would recommend this book for high school students and parents of high school students. The book can be used as a tool teach, among many things, the value of communication. I also recommend this book for anyone who is just looking for a fun read. It is a story with which we can learn and a story in which we can just have fun with.

I look forward to his next novel.

This is a good book if you have an extremely low IQ and need chapters and chapters on how to select which car model you want to buy. If that is your biggest problem when it comes to buying a car, then you are either very rich or very stupid. There are much better books around on how to deal with dealers, getting the most for your used car, not getting screwed on a lease, etc. The only adivce this book had on bargaining with dealers was "if you're not comfortabe with what's going on in the dealership, walk out." Sorry, but there's a lot more to negotiating than that.

I was a skeptic. How could everything you are warned about in this book really happen? I am sorry to say it's all true. In fact, I could write my own book about my car-buying experiences! As a single woman shopping alone for a new car, I thought this book was a reasonable investment. But it was so much more. Thanks to this book, I was prepared. I was informed. And I saved both my sanity and thousands in the end. There was a happy ending to my story thanks in large part to what I learned on those pages. Read this book if you are even considering buying a car. It's worth every single penny. I even made my fiance read it a year later -- before he bought his new car!

I had never bought a car before I read this book and I can tell you, after that, no seller could pull ANY magic or hypnotic trick on me. It gave me all the information and references that I needed to buy my first car at a bargain price. I had the confidence of a real pro-buyer! If you're willing to do your homework, you will easily save AT LEAST $1000.

I found this book easy-to-read and easy-to-understand. Some books like this over-promise, but when you get to the dealership their techniques don't work. The advice I got from this book got the job done, and I feel I got a good deal.

                                    5 out of 5 stars Superb Overview.......2006-11-15

Its great to see this valuable book back in print. This is a concise, combined historical overview and structural analysis of the Wilhelmine state. This book is structured in an unusual way. While it provides the basic narrative history, most of it is devoted to describing the basic features of Imperial Germany and how it changed over the period from its foundation to demise at the end of WWI. Berghahn covers basic demography, economic history, and the structures of politics. Unusually for a historian, Berghahn presents a great deal of the information in tabular form. This allows a more concise presentation. Berghahn is superb on the internal strains of the Wilhelmine state, an odd hybrid of traditional authoritarianism with some democratic elements. How these internal strains contributed to the often reckless foreign policies of Imperial Germany is discussed particularly well. The book concludes with the best concise description and analysis of the outbreak of WWI I've read. Recommended strongly for those interested in modern European history.

                                    4 out of 5 stars Statistical Germany.......2000-04-01

This book gives the reader a look at the statistical aspect of germany before the "Great War." It shows the reader why Germany thought it could win the war and also why it fought so well in the war. The book is a little hard to read because it throws quite a few numbers at you, but is still a bit interesting, espescially in the second half.

                                      Book Description

Popular British business forecaster offers a radical view of the pressures facing Europe over the coming decades. He finds that the global market will force Europe to modernize, and that free markets will not necessarily translate into greater international competitiveness. He takes financial services, computer services, and telecommunications as examples. Assumes no background in economics.

4 out of 5 stars In-depth analysis of European future.......1999-05-20

Chris Gentle's book looks at Europe after the deregulation of its industries, particularly with regard to financial, information technology and telecommunications services. It examines the extent to which such market liberalisation should be taken, focussing on the trade-off between free and competitive markets and (regional) social cohesion/parity.

Norton charmed even the most avowed cat haters in the bestselling THE CAT WHO WENT TO PARIS. Now, in Peter Gethers' and Norton's further adventures, the extraordinary feline with the great Scottish Fold ears, is hightailing it to the south of France--and making pit stops all over the globe (with his favorite human, of course). Along the way, Norton and his human companion face change and learn to understand the problems and the pleasure that come with growing up and growing older together. Like its predecessor, A CAT ABROAD is funny, touching, and wise.

4 out of 5 stars NORTON LIVES ON.......2006-07-17

I liked this book, the sequel to "Norton, The Cat Who Went to Paris." This beautiful Scottish Fold with the folded ears is no longer a baby kitten, but a playful full grown cat who travels the world with his owner. Here the reader will learn of Norton's adventures in Germany, Italy, Holland, Spain and his ability to win audiences along the way. Wherever Norton goes, he is given the red carpet treatment.

Gethers' first book was worth a hundred stars; however, this book was a step down from that simply because the adventures in A Cat Abroad seemed to be focused more on Gethers and his career than that of Norton's adventures. The book is still a fantastic book, but not quite up to par with "The Cat Who Went to Paris."

A guy friend bought the Norton books for me when I was having a tough day. He said these will cheer you up! I thought it was comical....and they sat on my shelves for awhile. Then I thought he went to the trouble of getting those books specifically for me that I should give them a go. I could not put them down. Norton is intriguing and his adventures are fun to read. Even better is the style, wit and genuis of Peter Gethers. His life is SO interesting. I would ready any book by him any day!

5 out of 5 stars Yet Another Charming Book.......2005-08-09

When I found Peter Gethers had continued his Norton saga, I was overjoyed to discover that the witty writing had not diminished at all. Now with Norton (and Peter) heading overseas to France, the sweet Scottish Fold endears himself to all of the readers again, as Gethers makes his readers groan with comments about how nice Nice is. A definite must red!

3 out of 5 stars Where is Norton?.......2004-08-31

I am a person who really only likes people who like animals. Humans, in my opinion, exist only to be awed by the beauty and mystery of the other animals on the planet. Nuf said? I'm nuts about animals. So I wanted to love this book, I should have loved this book, sadly, I didn't. Mr. Gethers is an entertaining writer, who is an easy and enjoyable read. However, this book is about the author, his travels, his meeting up with famous people, and his robust and endearing love of food. Norton seems quite incidental to the whole book. Certainly, Norton accompanies the author on his journeys, but at the end of the book I felt I knew the author and his friends, but, when I think about Norton, there really is just a blank. Any cats I have ever been lucky enough to share my life with have had personalities I could rattle on for days about. That famous people are charmed that a cat appears in unlikely situations (restaurants, theatres, etc.) seems to be enough to keep the author enthralled with the experience. But having grumped about this book, I will also tell you that it was an enjoyable (if hollow) read. You won't be made angry, depressed, or offended by anything in it (and anymore, that goes a long way for me). This is an entertaining book for a summer's afternoon diversion.

Before Peter Gethers met Norton, the publisher, screenwriter, and author was a confirmed cat-hater. Then everything changed. Peter opened his heart to the Scottish Fold kitten and their adventures to Paris, Fire Island, and in the subways of Manhattan took on the color of legend and mutual love.

5 out of 5 stars The Best of the Church Mice Books.......1998-07-09

I agree wholeheartedly with the other two reviewers. This was one of my favorite books of my childhood. When gathering books for my children's library I was devasted to find out it was out of print, but managed to find a copy through a book search company. Every time I look at the illustrations I find new things that I didn't notice before; the detail is phenonmenal and the story is hilarious.

5 out of 5 stars Such a memorable line of books!.......1998-03-21

I was so fortunate to have a good librarian when I was a child. She had every Graham Oakley "Church Mouse" book ever made, plus the "Changes" one that is also completely spellbinding. Of course, I was in elementary school in 1976 when these books were still in print - having tried numerous times to find them since, and failing, has been more than disappointing. I agree with the other reviewer - it is a complete SHAME these books ever went out of print. They were hysterically funny, deep (in their own way) and unforgettable. My sisters and I still quote from these books and we're all in our late twenties, early thirties.

5 out of 5 stars The best picture book by the best picture book author.......1997-04-30

All of Graham Oakley's children's books are splendid in all the ways that a picture book should be - the text and plot are simple enough for young children to grasp while entertaining enough to amuse older siblings and adults, and the illustrations are superb. But The Church Cat Abroad is the very top of the line. It's an utter shame that the thing should ever have been allowed to go out of print. The scene of the cat and the mice painting each other in watercolor is not-to-be-missed

5 out of 5 stars They just don't make 'em like this anymore........2004-05-11

What an adorable, lavishly illustrated treasure! I have just discovered the Orlando books for my kids and they make me wish I'd had them in my own childhood. Although these were all originally published sometime in the early 20th Century, apparently they had fallen out of print for quite some time and are just now being made available for a whole new generation.

Orlando is the original sassy orange tabby cat. Oh, he doesn't have a lot of dialog but the exquisitely drawn feline expresses more in a facial smirk and body language than that other orange fat cat ever could ever hope to convey with one-liners. In this adventure, Orlando takes an unexpected detour when his master totes the London bred cat family to a beach day; somehow, he ends up on an ocean liner to France! The precocious hero is not terribly concerned, and with a delightfully human savoir faire he navigates his way through high and low society, enjoying the best that luxury cruises and jazz clubs have to offer along the way.

The artwork is of the sensitively drawn, gorgepus variety that you just don't see anymore in most children's books. There is a lot of subtle wit and humor to be discovered in these pages. Do your family a favor and treat them to at least one Orlando book so that they can experience the pleasure of these genuine masterpieces. Recommended for cat fans or anybody who just loves great children's picture books.
